Fundraising and supporter engagement

• Engage and support individuals, communities and local businesses to fundraise for Duchenne UK, providing outstanding stewardship and care throughout their journey.
• Recruit participants for both ‘run your own’ and third-party challenge events (runs, cycles, walks, skydives, etc.), developing long-term relationships with supporters – including families directly connected to the Duchenne community.
• Manage and grow Duchenne UK’s community fundraising programme, including in-memory giving, birthday fundraisers, and local community initiatives.
• Respond promptly to fundraising enquiries and proactively inspire new audiences to get involved.
• Project-manage a calendar of third-party challenge events, overseeing logistics, communications, and participant stewardship from sign-up through to completion.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential experience:

• At least 2 years’ experience in a fundraising, events, or community engagement role within the charity sector.
• A proven track record of meeting income targets and growing a supporter base.
• Experience engaging and supporting a diverse range of fundraisers including individuals, schools, community groups, and local businesses.
• Experience recruiting, supporting, and motivating volunteers.

Essential skills and attributes:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a wide range of supporters.

Camden People First is a user‑led organisation run by and for adults with learning disabilities. We promote independence, equality, and self‑advocacy across the London Borough of Camden. Key Responsibilities

Advocacy & Empowerment

• Support adults with learning disabilities and neurodivergent) to express their views, wishes, and concerns in their own words.
• Provide independent advocacy during meetings, assessments, reviews, and care‑planning processes.
• Support people with a range of communication needs using accessible approaches (signs, symbols, photos, multimedia, etc).
• Help service users understand information and choices using accessible communication (Easy Read, plain English, visuals).
• Encourage and develop self‑advocacy skills so service users can speak up for themselves.

Community Engagement

Administration & Reporting

About the role

Sitting within the Community & Events Team, and more broadly the Income & Engagement Department, the Community Fundraising Officer plays a vital role in supporting the long-term growth, development, and delivery of Sands’ community fundraising activities.

This is a new role at Sands, and it is an exciting time to join our growing team. Main Responsibilities

Community Fundraising Delivery & Growth

• Working with the Community Fundraising Manager, develop and deliver a community fundraising strategy for both new and existing activities.

• Maintain regular communication with supporters via email, phone, and social platforms, ensuring prompt responses, clear guidance and automating where appropriate to improve efficiency.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a newly shaped role following a restructure that has created space to further strengthen and grow our community fundraising programme. As Community Fundraising Manager, you will play a central role in shaping a fundraising programme with lasting impact. You will take ownership of growing income, expanding supporter engagement, and building long-term relationships across the community.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Growth:

• Work with the Head of Fundraising (C&E) to develop and deliver a refreshed community fundraising strategy.
• Shape and implement plans to grow income, engagement and supporter involvement.
• Set clear income targets, KPIs and growth priorities.
• Develop a diverse and sustainable pipeline of community fundraising opportunities and supporters.

Supporter Engagement & Stewardship:

• Build strong supporter and volunteer relationships, delivering high-quality stewardship and supporter care to enhance journeys, maximise retention and grow long-term engagement.

 Fundraising Delivery:

• Lead delivery of a range of community fundraising activities, including individual fundraising activities and challenges, in celebration and in memory fundraising.
• Identifying and developing new community fundraising opportunities.
• Create engaging campaigns and opportunities that attract new audiences and grow engagement with existing supporters.

Recruitment & Communications:

• Recruit, support and develop volunteers and fundraisers across a range of activities.
• Encourage progression of volunteers into active fundraisers and community leaders.
• Provide ongoing guidance, tools and support to enable successful fundraising delivery.
• Support the promotion of fundraising activity through social media, digital channels and campaign communications.
• Contribute to marketing activity aimed at attracting new supporters and engaging existing audiences.

Systems, Insights & Reporting:

• Use CRM systems effectively to manage supporter data and activity.
• Monitor income, engagement and performance against agreed KPIs.
• Analyse results to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
• Use insight to inform future planning and campaign development.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with internal teams to align community fundraising with wider organisational goals.

About you

Experience:

• Proven experience in community fundraising at manager level.
• Strong track record of growing income and supporter engagement.
• Experience delivering a range of community fundraising activities and campaigns.
• Experience working with volunteers and supporter communities.
• Confident use of CRM systems and supporter databases.
• Experience in marketing, audience growth or supporter recruitment.
• Worked for a medical or research charity (Desirable).

We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Fundraising Officer to join our team, covering the South region. Based within easy reach of our London Head Office, you’ll play a vital role in generating income and building lasting relationships to support families in need.

Our charity

The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that provides a welcoming ‘Home from Home’ where families with a sick child in hospital can stay. But we’re more than bricks and mortar, our friendly, caring staff are there to support families when they really need it.

Hospital can be a lonely and scary place for anyone, but especially a child. Providing around 3,500 families a year with somewhere to stay together just minutes from the hospital means that they can be by their sick child’s side and have one less thing to worry about.

The Role

This is a varied and rewarding community fundraising role, focused on building strong relationships and delivering income growth across the South.

You will engage and support individuals, schools, community groups and local businesses to fundraise, delivering excellent stewardship and supporter care.

You’ll recruit participants for both ‘run your own’ and third-party events, while developing long-term relationships including with families connected to the charity.

Working collaboratively with House Teams and colleagues, you’ll help increase awareness, manage supporter activity, track income, and maximise opportunities through partnerships and communications.

You’ll also represent the charity at events and within the community.

This role requires a proactive and organised approach, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet income targets.

 About you

 We’re looking for someone who is passionate about community fundraising and motivated by building meaningful relationships.

You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will equally be as comfortable supporting families who stay with us who want to fundraise, as you are presenting to a room full of students, or potential volunteers.

You have good organisational skills and are comfortable working to objectives and targets. You are able to work with a level of autonomy and innovation to develop your fundraising portfolio and to increase our profile particularly in the areas close to our houses.

Ultimately this is a great role for anyone who loves community fundraising and understands that no two days are the same.

As a member of the Community Team, you will provide vital support to people who have completed our course in prison and are now in the community working to find the stability they need to realise their potential, achieve their goals and rebuild their lives after prison.

This is an exciting time to join our Community Team as we look to broaden and deepen the support we offer participants as they leave prison. You will help shape our offer to participants; drawing on your experiences and creativity and working with our other Community Coaches to trial new approaches.

Partnership working plays an important part of the role, and you’ll get to connect with employers, partners and statutory organisations to support participants as they build a life after prison.

The Role
Position: Community Fundraiser
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (part-time or compressed hours can be considered)

What You'll Be Doing

• Focus on both stewarding existing relationships and cultivating new ones, ensuring an exceptional donor experience throughout
• Act as the entry point for long term supporters and be responsible for the visible presence in the community

• Contribute to the wider national Community Fundraising direction

About You

• Proven experience of effectively managing relationships with volunteers, supporters, and/or external stakeholders/audiences
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and public speaking skills with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of audiences
• Demonstrable experience in community fundraising and/or events management
• Ability to manage a varied workload and take initiative to prioritise
• Proven record of securing, growing or maintaining income, funding, contracts, partnerships or comparable resources 
• Fundraising experience could be beneficial but not essential
• Physical ability to lift bulky and heavy equipment, to stand for long periods and to travel as required for the role
