Hackney Road Project provides 24 hour accommodation based support for up to 31 individuals with complex histories, multiple traumas, complex personality disorder(s) and a varied, disrupted housing history with experience of homelessness as well as individuals who have been diagnosed with severe and enduring mental health conditions who are under the Care Programme Approach (CPA).

What you'll do:

• Support customers with job searches and employment search as well as support with completing job applications and CVs
• Support customers with training and volunteering opportunities

We are opening a new detox centre and are looking for Support Workers to provide safe, compassionate, and practical support to individuals undergoing detoxification in a structured, trauma-informed environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day support to clients during detox, ensuring safety, dignity, and wellbeing
• Recognise and respond to signs of withdrawal, deterioration, or crisis, escalating concerns appropriately in line with protocol
• Act as a keyworker for allocated clients, offering consistent support and engagement
• Carry out regular welfare checks and monitor clients’ physical and emotional presentation
• Support safeguarding practices and report concerns in line with policy
• Assist with drug and alcohol testing in line with training and procedures
• Support safe medication administration in line with policy and competency assessment, and report any side effects or concerns.
• Follow health & safety, infection control, and lone working procedures at all times.

Essential criteria:

About the role

The Regional Communications Officer role is an exciting and varied opportunity to work with Emmaus communities across the South of the UK, helping to raise their profile and engage supporters.

You will work closely with up to four Emmaus communities to identify their communications needs and deliver a mix of activity to help them achieve their goals. As part of a wider team, you will also share ideas and build on each other’s experience to maximise PR, digital and communications opportunities.

This is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility to work from home or from within an Emmaus community.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders will be key to this role. Regular travel to your allocated communities is essential, typically at least once a week, so we are looking for someone based in or around London. You will also attend quarterly team meetings, usually held in Birmingham, although these may occasionally take place elsewhere in the UK and may require an overnight stay.

The Reconnection Team

Working alongside the Sub Regional Rough Sleeping Team as part of an evolving pilot scheme the Reconnection Team work with people who are rough sleeping or placed in temporary ‘off the street’ accommodation by Outreach Workers across six London boroughs. Providing information, advocacy and practical, person-centred support they empower clients to take the necessary steps toward resettlement, enabling them to reconnect with their local area and access the services they need to resettle successfully.

The Role

The role involves working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, ensuring the effective delivery of services tailored to each individual’s circumstances. Based at the 999 Club but travelling throughout Southeast London, you’ll work with a dynamic team dedicated to ending homelessness and making a tangible difference in people’s lives

This role is part of a pilot scheme being run by the Southeast London Sub-Regional Rough Sleeping Coordinator and provides the opportunity to work in different settings alongside teams from several other organisations from the third sector as well as voluntary and statutory services.

One of two Outreach and Project Workers pivotal to the delivery of an exciting new Women at Risk (WaR) project which will support women at risk of rough sleeping, homelessness and exploitation. The ideal candidate will work proactively and enthusiastically, both independently and as part of a team. They will have experience working in a busy, often fast-paced environment and be confident in assessing individual needs and identifying appropriate housing pathways. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of housing and homelessness legislation, along with a solid insight into the reasons individuals experience homelessness. They will be able to effectively support young people presenting with a wide range of needs and barriers.

About the role

As a Housing Rights Worker, you will deliver high quality housing advice and advocacy to individuals and families with the ultimate aim of helping them thrive in their communities. Your work will be in line with London Hub’s priorities of improving the practice of local authorities and Registered Social Landlords and focussing on households disproportionately affected by the housing emergency. Working alongside people who are experiencing homelessness and bad housing to identify issues facing local communities, you will deliver casework to families to resolve their housing situation as well as engaging with community groups, local organisations and individuals to understand and address the housing issues in London.

In your community work you will ensure that people with lived experience of homelessness have opportunities to share their stories, give their views and have their say in the design and delivery of Shelter services. Offering day to day support to volunteers, providing learning, shadowing and mentoring and being a consistent role model for our values are also key aspects of the role.

About you

You will have demonstrable experience of working with families and vulnerable people and/or people with multiple and complex needs, within a safeguarding framework. You have experience and knowledge of housing and homelessness advice and advocacy and are able to carry out casework related interviews, maintain detailed case records, advise and support your clients to make informed decisions. You are able to communicate clearly to a variety of audiences and collaborate with others to get the job done.

Our London hub specialises in providing housing advice and emergency homelessness work, intensive support to families and individuals, people experiencing domestic abuse and people experiencing multiple disadvantage. We provide front line support to over 5,000 people a year and work to bring about systemic change with the ultimate aim of people being able to live securely in suitable, safe, affordable homes.

Based in Old Street, the Shelter London Hub services specialises in providing housing advice and emergency homelessness work, intensive support to families, people experiencing domestic abuse, and people experiencing multiple disadvantage, preventing homelessness and helping them to access safe and affordable homes. The team also support the community to address systemic issues that may prevent families or individuals from sustaining a home, providing targeted advice sessions in community settings, with the aim of building capacity within communities to campaign on housing issues.

• To hold or complete a Level 4 Interpersonal Mediation Practitioner’s Certificate (IMPC). Training will be provided if candidate doesn’t hold the qualification but training will have to be completed before the end of the probation period.

• Experience of working independently and managing own caseload; self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks and carry out efficient organisation and administration.
