Breaking the cycle of youth homelessness through education, advice and support for young people and their families

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
About the role:
Real change rarely happens in a straight line. At our Ashley Road project, you’ll work alongside people who have experienced homelessness, trauma and multiple disadvantage, offering the consistency, practical support and belief that can help them begin moving forward.
As a Project Worker, you’ll hold a caseload and build purposeful, trusting relationships with clients. You’ll complete assessments, develop person-centred support and safety plans, and help people identify goals that feel meaningful and achievable to them. This could include supporting someone to improve their health, address substance use, manage their accommodation, strengthen their daily living skills or reconnect with services and opportunities in their community.
You’ll be there when situations become challenging, responding calmly to risk, safeguarding concerns and periods of crisis while continuing to recognise each person’s strengths and potential. Working closely with colleagues and external partners, you’ll advocate for clients, coordinate joined-up support and help remove the barriers that have previously prevented them from accessing the help they need.
This is a hands-on and varied role where no two days will look the same. Alongside direct support, you’ll contribute to the safe and effective running of the accommodation, maintain clear and accurate records and help create an environment where clients are treated with dignity, respect and hope. You’ll also receive ongoing training, reflective practice and development opportunities to strengthen your skills and build your future career within SHP.
The working rota for this post is Monday - Friday, with no weekend shifts. The rota will consist of a mixture of earlies (8am - 3.30pm) & lates (3pm - 10.30pm).
About you:
- You know how to meet people where they are, building trust with people who may be facing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use, trauma or other complex needs.
- You bring patience, creativity and warmth to your work, especially when someone has been let down by services before or needs time to feel safe accepting support.
- You’re confident holding a caseload, but you never lose sight of the person behind the support plan — their strengths, choices, goals and hopes for the future.
- You understand that progress rarely happens through one service alone, and you’re ready to work closely with health, social care, housing and criminal justice partners to help people get the right support.
- You believe recovery looks different for everyone, and you’re motivated by helping people build confidence, independence and a more stable life at their own pace.
About us:
We’re London’s leading homelessness charity – and we get things done.
In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.
We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. Every day, we put people first in everything we do, challenging injustice and barriers that keep people from the safety, stability and opportunity they deserve. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.
Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that’s bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.
We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We listen. We learn. And we push forward, together. Because this isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to lead with empathy, spark change, and help build a London where no one is left behind.

Closing date: Sunday 9th August at midnight

About the role:
At Single Homeless Project (SHP), we’re driven by the belief that everyone deserves a place to call home and the chance to build a life that feels fulfilling and hopeful. In our Hammersmith and Fulham service, we provide that opportunity through one high support hostel and two medium support hostels, where 24 Londoners are rebuilding their lives while managing their mental health and other complex challenges such as substance use or past offending. This is a place where progress is measured not just in milestones but in moments of courage, connection and growth - and where your work has the power to change the direction of someone’s story.
As a Project Worker, you’ll play a leading role in helping clients understand and manage their emotional and mental health needs, while developing the confidence and skills to live independently. Through meaningful one-to-one work, you’ll carry out detailed needs and risk assessments, identify achievable short-term goals, and help clients strengthen relationships, expand social networks and access training, education or employment. Every day will bring new opportunities to inspire change - whether supporting a resident to manage a difficult day, celebrating progress towards recovery or working alongside a dedicated team to keep our 24-hour service running smoothly, including on weekends.
This is more than a job, it’s a chance to grow your career in a place that values your ideas, invests in your development and champions innovation in homelessness support. At SHP, you’ll be part of a tenacious, forward-thinking team determined to do what works, to go further, and to make London a place where everyone can thrive.
*Please note that this role involves shift work, including a combination of early shifts (8:00 AM – 3:30 PM) and late shifts (2:30 PM – 10:00 PM), with shifts scheduled every other weekend.
About you:
- You’ve supported people experiencing mental health challenges and complex needs, and you know how to build trust by seeing the person, not just the problem.
- You understand safeguarding, risk and mental health legislation, and can use that knowledge in a way that keeps people safe while respecting their choice and independence.
- You’re confident getting to the heart of someone’s needs, creating clear support plans and helping people take realistic steps towards recovery.
- You understand what makes a residential service feel safe, settled and homely, from tenancy support to the small everyday details that matter.
- You enjoy working alongside partners, including mental health, substance use and other specialist services, to make sure people get the right support at the right time.

About the role:
At the heart of Camden’s response to street homelessness, the Rough Sleeping Outreach & Hub Service works across streets, transport hubs and a central support hub to ensure that no one is left facing rough sleeping alone. This is an integrated, borough-wide service focused on early engagement, reducing harm and supporting people to move away from the streets towards safety, accommodation and longer-term stability.
As an Outreach Worker, you’ll be a consistent and trusted presence for people sleeping rough or at risk of rough sleeping. Working flexibly across street outreach and hub-based support on a rota basis, you’ll build meaningful relationships, carry out trauma-aware assessments and coordinate practical support that helps people take their next steps.
You’ll work within a 'No Wrong Door' approach, supporting people wherever and however they engage. That might mean meeting someone early in the morning on outreach, supporting them to access the hub later that day, or working alongside partners to remove barriers that have kept them excluded in the past.
This is a role with variety, challenge and real impact. You’ll respond to complex situations, manage risk thoughtfully, and support people through moments of crisis and change. The work can be unpredictable and includes early, late and weekend shifts as part of a 7-day rota – but you won’t be doing it alone. You’ll be supported through reflective practice, supervision and training, as part of a skilled, compassionate and determined team.
If you’re motivated by persistence, partnership and meaningful outcomes, this is a chance to grow your skills while helping others move forward with dignity and hope.
About you:
- You’re motivated by helping people move away from harm and towards stability. You understand that progress isn’t always linear, and you bring patience, persistence and empathy to your work.
- You use a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach and can stay calm and professional when situations are complex. You balance compassion with clear boundaries and use your judgement to manage risk and safeguarding effectively.
- You work well in a fast-moving environment. You can manage competing priorities, work independently in the community and keep clear, accurate records that support continuity and accountability.
- You value partnership and collaboration. You’re confident working alongside housing, health, substance use and community safety services to deliver joined-up support and meaningful outcomes.
- You’re flexible and reliable, and comfortable working across a rota that includes early and late shifts, evenings and weekends. You’re open to working both on outreach and within a hub setting, adapting to service need while keeping people at the centre of what you do.
