The Role

We are looking for a Class 2 HGV Driver to make daily collections from our food partners in the Midlands region and deliver to warehouses across the West and East Midlands. This role is most suited to individuals with an aptitude for driving, who have excellent customer service skills combined with a professional attitude, as you will be dealing directly with our customers as a representative of FareShare Midlands.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work with the Supply Chain Team to collect surplus food from partners and deliver to the right regional centre.

• Provide excellent customer service to food partners in person and by phone, offering a highly professional impression of the charity in a friendly manner.
• Adhere to all laws, Road Transport Regulations and HGV Working Time directives.
• Support the Supply Chain Team by collecting stock offered from the food industry and delivering it to Regional Centres in a timely fashion, communicating ETAs and delays.
• Maintain records of collections and allocations e.g. provide paperwork and temperature readings to the Regional Centres on delivery.
• Identify any barriers or opportunities and feedback any developments or challenges e.g. delays, maintenance concerns, instruction errors, etc.
• Ensure deliveries follow the assigned order, the routes are planned appropriately in the given timescale and all delivery windows are met safely.
• Highlight and respond quickly to any anticipated delays or difficulties, using problem solving skills to mitigate any unforeseen circumstances e.g. taking breaks while queueing or changing the order of collections subject to permission from the Supply Chain Team.
• Ensure the quality of the product delivered is accurate against notes, making detailed visual inspections and flagging any concerns or discrepancies before the vehicle is loaded.
• Strengthen existing relationships by providing a reliable and friendly service.
• Adhere to all health and safety and operational requirements at all times.
• Ensure the vehicle is properly maintained, serviced and cleaned to a high standard.
• 6 am to 3 pm shifts & occasionally 7am to 4pm shifts.

This position will involve handballing and lifting with the provision of lifting equipment. You may be required to complete other duties as requested to suit the needs of the charity. Some work on Saturdays with notice will be required.

• Class 2 UK Driving License – (Not more than 3 points & at least 2 years of previous experience is required).
• A valid CPC and digital tachograph card
• Required to undertake heavy lifting with suitable equipment

• Good Midlands geographic knowledge

Shannon Trust Reading Strategy Facilitator – HMP Bristol

Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led learning programmes at HMP Bristol. Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will support the management of a prison-wide reading strategy designed to encourage reading across the prison. It will also lead the delivery of a reading and numeracy programme for learners working below Level 1, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.  

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. 

This role is a fixed term role until 31st March 2027 with the opportunity for extension subject to contract renewal.

You will bring knowledge, experience, or relevant qualifications in housing and homelessness legislation, including private rented housing, the Homelessness Reduction Act, eviction processes, and tenants' rights. You will also have a good understanding of welfare benefits legislation and health and safety, alongside experience addressing the causes of homelessness and developing effective interventions with service users. Job description

We are looking for a Strength & Conditioning Coach to lead the programming and delivery of Strength & Conditioning for the TeamUCL High Performance Programme. 

The role is a part time, averaging 14-18 hours per week. This role is based at our Bloomsbury campus with occasional delivery at the UCL East gym site, and across London for testing and pre-season.

Do you have experience in teaching advanced strength and conditioning techniques? Do you understand how best to programme for elite athletes? If the answer is yes, then we want to hear from you.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• A Level 3 qualification, or above, in Personal Training/Gym Instruction
• An understanding of the principles of periodisation of training schedules, incorporating all aspects of a strength and conditioning programme, including testing.
• Experience of working with elite athletes in a high performance environment

The Gurkha Welfare Trust has supported Gurkha veterans and their families in Nepal for nearly 60 years. Gurkhas have served in the British Army for more than 200 years as soldiers of extraordinary courage, loyalty, and bravery. When their service ends, we make sure they are not forgotten. We deliver financial aid, medical support, clean water, education and housing through 21 Area Welfare Centres in Nepal and India, supported by a passionate UK fundraising team based in Salisbury.

The opportunity

This is a brilliant role for someone who thrives on variety. You will be at the heart of the Trust's community fundraising programme, supporting individuals and groups raising money on our behalf, managing our presence at events like Armed Forces Day and country shows, coordinating volunteers, and helping to grow a programme that is actively expanding its national reach.

It is a fixed-term maternity cover role of at least one year, with the option to extend. The team is experienced, ambitious and supportive and this is an exciting time to be joining, with a new strategy driving real growth.

What you'll be doing

• Supporting community fundraisers - individuals, groups and volunteers - with materials, guidance and stewardship
• Managing the Trust's attendance at appropriate third-party events including Armed Forces Day and country shows engaging with supporters
• Recruiting and coordinating volunteers, helping them champion the Trust in their local communities
• Working with the Communications team to promote community fundraising across digital and social channels
• Monitoring income, reporting on KPIs, and analysing fundraising activity against budget to improve results
• Helping to develop new initiatives and set up accessible sign-up processes

What we're looking for

• Excellent communication skills; warm, confident and clear, whether on the phone, in writing or face to face
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities without dropping the ball

About you

Working within the communications and marketing team, you'll be confident in managing our social media accounts (we have many), ensuring we're using platforms to get our messages out to both wide and targeted audiences with engaging and timely content.

You'll be happy using tools for social listening, interacting with our audiences and building our reach. You'll be familiar with key metrics for social engagement and will be reporting back to colleagues and other stakeholders - and using this data to constantly improve our communications.

You'll be skilled in writing longer form content for our members' magazine, Caring, proof reading articles, posting content on our websites, creating graphics and making sure our content is engaging, audience focused and dynamic. Oh, and you probably know your way around an emoji set and are not scared of a well timed pun. We're a small but effective communications team and pride ourselves on getting stuck in and supporting each other when we need to deliver big on fast moving projects, so you'll need be able to juggle lots of demands while recognising the importance of always hitting deadlines.

Methodist Church Connexional Faith-Rooted Community Organising Officer

Salary: £48,129 per annum (including London weighting for hybrid working arrangements. Homebased salaries may differ)

Hours: full-time (35 hours)

Location: This is a hybrid position, with an average minimum of 2-3 days based in our London office, with the rest working remotely from your home, and some travel around Britain. However, homeworking arrangement requests will be considered.

The Vacancy

This is an exciting role advocating for and delivering faith-rooted community organising (FRCO) practices in the Methodist Church, to support organising for justice, develop existing congregations and begin new forms of Christian communities.

The successful candidate will develop and implement the Church’s FRCO strategy and grow a network of officers based in Methodist Districts around Britain in support of our vision to become an inclusive, justice-seeking, evangelistic, growing Church.

You will be a member of the Justice Team, working collaboratively with the Evangelism and Growth Team and others. You will also be part of the wider Mission Team, playing a key role in the implementing its strategy in response to Our Calling and the Methodist Way of Life.
