The Active Recovery Project gives adult survivors of abuse the opportunity to take part in community-based activities. Members of Active Recovery can participate in a variety of group activities with others who share or understand their experience and develop peer relationships, resulting in increasing confidence and reduced isolation. The activities are based on ideas from our members and include water-based activities (such as rowing, canoeing, sailing and kayaking), surfing, trips to community spaces and creative sessions (such as arts and crafts). Activities take place every week. Each activity will last approximately 2.5 hours each. Members can attend the group sessions for up to 18 months. 

Job Purpose: 

We are looking for a warm and passionate leader to come and join the Active Recovery Service.

As an Active Recovery Lead, their job will be to develop and deliver the Active Recovery Project in Bristol and in Somerset. Using a trauma-informed approach, the Active Recovery Lead will create and provide a safe and supportive space for clients from The Sexual Violence Alliance organisations (The Southmead Project, SARSAS, Womankind and the Bridge Sarc) to participate in a variety of group activities, with others who share or understand their experience and develop peer relationships, resulting in increasing confidence and reduced isolation. 
 

Principal Tasks:

1. Run two Active Recovery groups a week, with , with the help of the Practitioner.

2. Provide initial trauma-informed assessment phone calls and/or meetings with potential members as part of the registration process for Active Recovery. This includes assessing need, risk and suitability for the service using a trauma-informed approach. 

3. Create safety plans and tailor activity sessions where appropriate after building relationships with members following the initial phone calls.

4. Plan trauma-informed sessions for members, including producing risk assessments for each activity, visiting activity locations and delivering relevant trauma training to activity providers. 

5. Oversee and lead on setting up, delivering and debriefing about activity sessions with members, volunteers and staff. Ensuring members are clear on each session's ground rules and safeguarding processes, using the Member’s Agreement.

6. Provide trauma-informed face-to-face support to members at sessions who may become overwhelmed or require help dealing with flashbacks and dissociation.

7. To support volunteers and staff with safeguarding queries and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed. To be the safeguarding lead at activity sessions, escalating any onward safeguarding referrals and queries to the Southmead Project Designated Safeguarding Lead.

8. Participate in and support the recruitment and induction training of volunteers.

9. Support and line manage a team of volunteers.

10. Develop and maintain an Active Recovery community through email, phone calls, texts and in person.

11. Develop and drive forward the project’s aim to have the members’ voices at the heart of the project.

12. Collaborate with developing outcome processes in line with the Southmead Project and its funders’ requirements.

13. Analyse data and feedback collected through outcomes processes to adapt and constantly improve the planning and delivery of the project sessions.

14. Contribute content for reports as required. 

15. Build and maintain positive relationships with partnership organisations for the project

16. Manage the day to day budget for the project sessions, keeping accurate records to report to the Head of Active Recovery and planning how the budget will be spent across sessions, within guidelines provided by the Head of Active Recovery.

17. Record data accurately and in a timely manner on Oasis.

18. Produce social media and website posts about the project, including producing and editing videos.

19. Attend monthly one-to-one line management meetings with the Head of Active Recovery. 

20. To attend monthly one-to-one clinical supervision with a Supervisor who is approved by the Southmead Project. Supervision is a requirement of this charity as an organisational member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. 

21. To work within the framework, spirit and ethos of the Southmead Project’s Equal Opportunities Policy, and actively engage in promoting the policy within the charity and in all dealings with clients and other agencies.

Person Specification

ESSENTIAL

• Full drivers licence and access to own transport.

• Professional qualification, such as a Diploma or degree in Counselling or in other relevant fields of work, such as; social work, psychology, mental health, education, support work or similar: or extensive experience in any of these fields.

• A sound understanding of the issues affecting members who have experienced trauma and abuse.

• Experience in managing projects. 

• Excellent administration and organisational skills, including experience of managing sensitive personal information.

• Experience of and confidence in using multiple computer and case management systems. 

• At least 2 years’ experience of delivering groups in the community, preferably activity based.

• At least 1 year’s experience of providing face-to-face support for survivors of abuse. 

• The ability to arrange group activities and liaise with other local organisations to help plan them. 

• The ability to plan sessions in detail to ensure that they are trauma-informed and having the experience and confidence to ‘hold’ groups when things do not go to plan.

• The ability to work flexibly within a team and support those within it. 

• Experience in managing volunteers. 

• Knowledge and awareness of how particular activities and social situations could improve people’s self-esteem, self-confidence, build friendships and reduce their isolation. 

• A sound understanding of safeguarding and experience of supporting others to act in accordance with safeguarding policies and within the best interests of the Active Recovery member or those at risk.

• Experience in managing a long-term budget.

• Knowledge of survivors’ voice work.

Operations Director:

 

A new post at the Longford Trust, created at an exciting time of growth and development for the charity.

- A 3 day-a-week role;

- Reporting to the Director and working as part of the Senior Management Team of the trust, within an overall cohort of eight, all part-time posts;

- Paid pro-rata of £50-55,000 depending on experience via PAYE with pensions contributions;

The Longford Trust was set up in 2002. Each November, it stages an annual Longford Lecture and awards an annual Longford Prize. Aims and scope of the post

The aim of this post is to ensure sound financial management to support the organisation’s ongoing charitable work. The Finance Manager is responsible for CT’s financial strategy, timely and accurate financial administration, maintenance of financial and management accounts, as well as cash flow, stock control, payroll and pension.

Responsibilities and tasks

Budgeting and forecasting

• Produce annual budgets, quarterly reforecasts, and scenario models for the organisation budget.
• Support budget forecasting for project tenders, ensuring due diligence and financial viability.

Reporting

• Produce quarterly management accounts, including variance reports, analysis by income streams, and cashflow forecasts.
• Prepare and present financial reports for the quarterly board meetings and biannual audit committee meeting.
• Produce minutes of the audit committee meetings and contribute to the minutes of board meetings.
• Complete statutory reporting to Companies House, the Charity Commission and HMRC.
• Submit the relevant reports to funders to ensure timely receipt of grant payments.

Financial management

• Process supplier invoices and carry out twice-monthly payment runs.
• Raise customer invoices for consultancy work, licensing agreements, training, and other income due.
• Carry out credit control for overdue customer invoices.
• Manage payroll, including monthly payments to HMRC, payroll year end, and pension contributions.
• Manage CT bank accounts, including weekly monitoring of transactions and income matching, managing bank mandates and online access.

• Act as the main point of contact to external auditors, providing all required information.

Risk management

• Lead on maintaining the organisation’s strategic risk register.

• Regularly review the reserves policy to ensure that it meets the needs of the organisation.
• Carry out regular reviews of systems, procedures and financial controls to ensure they are fit for purpose.

Line management

• This role does not line manage any staff

About the Space to grow Programme

Space to grow is a nationwide partnership between The Children's Society in England and Wales, Children First in Scotland, and MACS in Northern Ireland.

The programme is funded by a £1 million grant from funding partners BBC Children in Need, The Health Foundation, and Impact on Urban Health, their single biggest award through an open funding programme, called the 'Million and Me Award'. To amplify and increase our impact and to reach as many children as possible, The Children's Society is investing a further £1million meaning we have £2million over the next two years to truly change the lives of children.

The funding is going to create a early support programme which will support children aged 8 - 13 years-old across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland with a strong focus on those children and families who are not represented in emotional health and well being and mental health services. Our ambition is to support children and their families as early as possible to help prevent children developing and experiencing and mental health difficulties as they become teenagers.

The programme will offer one-to-one time-limited wellbeing interventions to children and their families. We will utilise solution-focussed approaches to provide children and their families with a toolbox of strategies to help support the child's emotional health and wellbeing and manage their feelings. The direct work with children and families will be supported by digital interventions, through the use of our own wellbeing app “Me Time”.

APB exists to support Religious Order Bursars (and others) involved in the management of their charities. A vacancy in the post of General Secretary will arise later this year due to the retirement of the current post holder.

The General Secretary is responsible for the day-to-day administration and management of the Association which has over 200 members. The General Secretary ensures the APB website is kept up to date and useful resources are available to support members in their work. Each year an annual conference is held over either 3 or 4 days, and the General Secretary is responsible for the organisation of this. 

This is a home-based position that will require attendance at in person meetings from time to time and at the 3 or 4-day annual conference each October.

The Woodland Trust is looking for a Forestry and Harvesting Manager. The Forestry and Harvesting Manager is a key role in Wales which will work alongside our Site Managers for the Woodland Trusts Wales Estate. The role will be responsible for implementing and supporting the planning, preparation and delivery of harvesting and forestry operations. This will include infrastructure projects across the Wales Estate.

The Role: 

• This role is a key role in Wales which will work alongside our Site Managers for the Woodland Trust Wales estates. The role will be responsible for implementing and supporting the planning, preparation and delivery of the harvesting and forestry and tree safety operations and will include some infrastructure projects across the Wales region.
• Actively plan, specify, tender, procure and supervise the implementation of contacts on the estate to the highest professional standard, ensuring full compliance with our FSC certification and following the Woodland Trusts Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• You will conduct qualitative standards, mapping, timber mensuration, tree inspections, tree safety management and other data gathering to support the delivery of operations throughout the estates.

The Candidate: 

• Experience in managing forestry and land on sites of high conservation importance with experience in writing and reviewing harvesting plans.

• Understanding of planning consents, felling licenses, access agreements, EPS, EIA’s and other species consents.

Parenting for Lifelong Health (PLH) aims to empower parents to improve child development, reduce family violence, and promote mental health. We give parents the support they need, the skills that work, and trusted advice they can count on to protect and support their children’s health, safety and development. Our parenting courses are developed with families, powered by low-cost and accessible technology, backed by rigorous evidence, and delivered within systems. Originally founded as an initiative in 2012 in collaboration with UNICEF and the WHO, Parenting for Lifelong Health was established as a UK charity in 2022 and since then has reached over 8 million families in more than 35 countries.

About the role:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Officer will play a key role in coordinating core operational and HR processes across the organisation. This role is well suited to someone looking to build a career in charity operations and people management, who is comfortable working across multiple functions in a remote, international organisation and who brings strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

Operations & Systems Coordination

• Maintain PLH’s internal systems, including shared drives and databases, ensuring information is accurate, accessible, and managed in line with GDPR and data protection requirements.
• Act as a first point of contact for operational queries via PLH’s central inbox, exercising judgement in responding to requests, signposting information, and escalating issues where appropriate.
• Support the development, documentation, and consistent application of internal policies and procedures, working with the Operations Manager to ensure alignment with UK charity best practice, safeguarding standards, and employment legislation.
• Identify opportunities for improving operational processes and support the implementation of agreed improvements.

Travel, Expenses & Events

• Coordinate organisational travel arrangements, ensuring bookings are safe, cost-effective, timely, and compliant with internal policies.
• Administer staff expense processes in collaboration with the Finance team, including checking submissions, tracking approvals, and following up on discrepancies.
• Coordinate logistical arrangements for in-person and virtual meetings and events, including scheduling, communications, and follow-up actions. 

Finance & Operational Reporting

• Coordinate the collection of staff timesheets and attendance data, producing accurate monthly attendance summaries for the Finance team.
• Liaise with colleagues across the organisation to ensure timely provision of operational and financial information. 

People Operations & HR Support

• Coordinate HR administration processes, including contracting, onboarding, and maintenance of staff records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with GDPR.
• Support the administration of PLH’s performance management framework, including tracking review cycles, documentation, and agreed actions.
• Assist in coordinating internal learning and professional development activities, supporting staff development and organisational capability.

Culture & Organisational Development

• Support initiatives that promote an inclusive, values-led organisational culture, with a focus on staff wellbeing, equity, and professional growth.
• Assist in coordinating internal communications and activities that strengthen connection and collaboration across a distributed team.

Essential criteria: 

• Bachelor's degree.
• 3 years experience of coordinating operational processes such as HR administration, finance processes, travel coordination, or internal systems ideally within a UK charity.
• High level of attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage information systematically.
• Confidence using digital tools and systems (e.g. shared drives, databases, spreadsheets, HR or finance systems) and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Ability to identify process improvements and support the implementation of agreed changes.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills. 2
• Basic understanding of data protection principles (e.g. GDPR) and the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding in organisational operations. 

Preferred criteria: 

• Experience working in a remote or distributed organisation.
• Working knowledge of UK employment practices and charity sector policies.
