We are recruiting a PR and Media Lead who shares our compassion and commitment for animal welfare. This is a key role within the marketing and communications team which will lead on Mayhew’s PR activity and presence in the media. You will work with the Head of Engagement to deliver a considered and an exciting PR strategy for the organisation, that focuses on reaching new audiences, positioning Mayhew as a thought leader in the sector and ultimately, helping many more dogs and cats both in London and overseas.
This role would be ideal for a highly organised, motivated and creative individual who is comfortable working on integrated communications and PR campaigns and working with stakeholders from across the organisation to find the story. You’ll be curious, always looking for new and inventive ways to shout about Mayhew and grow our audience. We partner with local organisations and communities to deliver our locally rooted programmes, using evidence to drive learning and the refinement and scale up of programmes to create maximum impact for the most children at the lowest cost. Part 1: Role Purpose:
We are seeking an outstanding Programmes Officer for an exciting opportunity to support Street Child’s programme portfolio in Liberia and Sierra Leone. This role will cut across Street Child’s programming in the region, including a specific focus on the $12.8m Education for Every Child Today (EFECT) Project which aims to enrol 96,000 out of school children in school across West Africa over a 4-year period.
The key objectives of this role are to work closely with Street Child’s federal partners to support the effective implementation of adaptive programming, and to support accurate and timely donor reporting across a range of institutional, trust & foundations, and corporate donors. The ideal candidate will have strong written and excel skills, with experience of MEAL and financial management processes. The role will engage regular, detailed interaction with Street Child’s UK and European fundraising community.
The role holder will work in close collaboration with Street Child’s regional Head of Programmes, based in Freetown, as well as partner Programmes, MEAL and Finance teams to coordinate timely and quality implementation and reporting across the programmes portfolio.
Based in Monrovia, whilst serving a regional brief, the role-holder will be expected to be especially involved in supporting the programmes, and wider life, of Street Child of Liberia. This aspect of the role in particular demands a confident, ‘self-sufficient’ and motivated personality – who is excited by the opportunity and attendant career potential, as opposed to being overawed by the inevitable, multi-dimensional challenges.
Part 2: Key Responsibilities:
Reporting & Programme Funding Engagement – 35%
- Review narrative and financial quarterly reporting from country teams and provide feedback.
- Lead on the consolidation of narrative reporting (low-mid value donors) for a variety of donors within the portfolio.
- Ensure regular information flow to Street Child communications and fundraising teams, inclusive of collection and drafting of case studies and photos.
- Supporting income-generation opportunities - potentially including supporting donor visits, in-country donor engagement and broad-based support to the group’s global programme-funding efforts for both Liberia and Sierra Leone.

In this role, you’ll help to deliver our mass market ‘DIY fundraising’ programme. This will involve looking after our fundraising pack fulfilment, supporting on our email stewardship, and managing day to day enquiries from our incredible supporters.
You’ll work closely with the wider community fundraising team to provide operational support and, reporting into the senior community fundraising operations officer, you’ll also assist on a variety of projects. This could include anything from analysis and reporting to stewardship communications and making sure our supporters have the materials they need for their fundraisers.

Overview of the Role
As Communications Director, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Crisis Action’s unique model of campaigning by driving maximum innovation and impact in our campaigns; communicating Crisis Action’s story in new and compelling ways to our diverse network of partners and donors; and by building allies and creative coalitions globally. We are looking for an exceptional changemaker who is an all-in-one storyteller, strategic communicator, newshound, and mentor, with the ability to ensure maximum innovation and impact in our campaigns and communications for the protection of civilians from conflict.
This is not a typical Communications Director role. We do not want our profile raised: in fact, while keeping us entirely behind the scenes, you will help our campaign teams and partners develop and deliver ever-more creative, strategic, and digitally aware campaigns that can achieve cut-through in a dramatically changing geopolitical landscape.
Our new Communications Director will be a seasoned communications professional with a strong understanding of the media landscape, but also an experienced changemaker with the soul and energy of an activist. You understand how change occurs and have a demonstrable passion and track record for making it happen. You seek and drive excellence but are also unafraid to embrace experimentation and failure. Location: Nairobi, London, or Johannesburg
Salary: Nairobi and Johannesburg: US$90,000 per annum , London: UK£80,000 per annum
Travel: As required (up to 20%)

Supply chain transparency: Trase is a data-driven transparency initiative that revolutionises our understanding of the international trade and financing of agricultural commodities which drive tropical deforestation. Its unique supply chain mapping approach brings together disparate, publicly available data to connect consumer markets to deforestation and other impacts in producer countries.
Trase’s free online tools and actionable intelligence enable governments, companies, financial institutions and civil society organisations to take practical steps to address deforestation. Trase is jointly led by the Stockholm Environment Institute and Global Canopy, with many further partners and collaborators.
You will be part of a leading, multinational, multidisciplinary, and multilingual team of experts, delivering this exciting program in a way that is effective, manageable and fun! We value diversity, inclusivity and creativity at the core of what we do.
This role will lead the delivery of the Trase communication strategy over the next 5 year strategic period.
Working as part of the Impact team within Trase, alongside colleagues responsible for content production and those engaging directly with companies, governments and financial institutions, you will take responsibility for leading all aspects of public relations - press, media, events, promotion and publicity.

Writing - demonstrable experience of creating compelling and concise written pieces both from scratch and from detailed technical information, accurately and creatively.

Planning - demonstrable experience of creating communications plans for the release of new data sets, to share new insights, or in response to external events, to deliver on Trase’s priorities and strategic approach.

Engage and influence - demonstrable experience of developing and maintaining relationships with key people and organisations including journalists and partner organisations.

Decision-making - able to make sound tactical decisions on the right public relations approach to ensure our external communications work remains tightly aligned with our strategy for engagement and impact.
