Main purpose of post
This is a new role for the marketing team at Weston Park Cancer Charity. The Communications and PR Manager will play a critical role in telling our story, championing our mission, and amplifying the voices of patients, families, clinicians and supporters.
To lead and deliver impactful, brand-building communications and PR activity that increases awareness, deepens engagement, and strengthens Weston Park Cancer Charity’s reputation across South Yorkshire and beyond. The Communications and PR Manager will work closely with the Marketing Manager, Campaigns Manager and Digital Marketing and Social Media Officer to create compelling copy for charity news stories, press releases and campaigns, ensuring consistent and meaningful communication across channels.
This role will:
Communications Strategy & Planning
· Support the Marketing Manager in delivering the annual marketing plan through communications and PR opportunities.
· Support the Campaign Manager with the charity’s multi-channel campaigns that raise awareness of services, research, events, and fundraising initiatives.
· Monitor and evaluate performance of communications activity, using insight and data to inform continuous improvement.
Media Relations & PR
· Build, maintain and grow strong relationships with local, regional, and national media.
· Act as first point of contact for media enquiries and manage press office activity.
· Lead proactive PR campaigns to highlight the charity’s work, impact and partnerships.
· Prepare press releases, statements, briefings and media packs.
· Support senior leaders and spokespeople with media interviews and messaging.
Communications & Storytelling
· Oversee the creation of high-quality communications across all external channels – website, newsletters and print materials.
· Support the delivery of communications through the charity’s digital channels by working closely with the Digital Marketing and Social Media Officer.
· Provide oversight on social media messaging, online storytelling, and website content.
· Lead on gathering patient, supporter and staff stories, ensuring sensitivity and ethical storytelling.
· Produce compelling copy that strengthens the charity’s brand and inspires action.
Brand & Reputation Management
· Provide staff members with regular training on the charity’s tone of voice, ensuring high standards of output.
· Ensure consistent application of the charity’s brand identity, tone of voice and key organisational priorities.
· Protect and enhance the organisation’s reputation through effective issues management.
· Work with the Marketing manager and Leadership team as needed on reviewing and updating the charity’s strategy, tone of voice and branding.
Stakeholder Engagement & Team Support
· Work collaboratively with clinical partners, fundraisers, volunteers, ambassadors, and community groups.
· Support internal communications to strengthen engagement across teams.
· Represent the charity at events, briefings, and partnership meetings where required.
· Represent the Marketing Manager/Campaign Manager and support the marketing team as needed during annual leave/sick leave.

JOB PURPOSE
This is a pivotal role within The Passage’s Fundraising Team, created to help support the transformation of our supporter data systems and ensure we become a more data informed, insight driven organisation and fundraising team. You will be the main contact for the fundraising CRM working with the fundraising team and other teams within The Passage such as finance and IT to ensure the smooth running of all systems and processes.
As the dedicated data and CRM Manager for Fundraising and Communications, you will support colleagues with reporting, analysis, campaign set-up and selections, and data strategy. Your work will ensure our data is accurate, accessible, and GDPR-compliant, enabling smarter decision-making, improved supporter journeys, and to help grow income. You will also be working with the Marketing and Communications team to implement email soft opt-in for our supporters. This is a unique opportunity to shape how we use data to engage, retain, and grow our supporter base at a time of exciting change.
MAIN DUTIES
1. Fundraising CRM Project Leadership
Manage and maintain the current Salesforce system, ensuring it remains functional, accurate, and fit for the purposes of stewarding donors and maintaining accurate records of donations
Act as the day-to-day lead for the CRM system within the Fundraising and Communications team, ensuring it meets team needs and supports strategic goals.
Document workflows, integrations and processes to ensure the long-term sustainability and usability of the system for vital processes such as donation processing and gift aid
Work with IT and the fundraising team to evaluate onboard 3rd party platforms to support fundraising initiatives. Ensure any changes are approved with senior stakeholders and documented.
Be a custodian of GDPR within the Fundraising team and be the main point of contact with The Passage’s Data protection lead and ensure all policies and procedures are up to date and in line with current fundraising regulations.
2.CRM and Data Management
Work collaboratively with the IT team and procurement team as the fundraising representative to recommend improvements to the current CRM and any other related projects.
Maintain and improve the quality of supporter data through regular cleansing, deduplication, and tagging to ensure accuracy and GDPR compliance.
Ensure ongoing system performance and data integrity by embedding data hygiene routines and best practices.
Work with the Finance team to support integration between the CRM and finance systems for seamless donation and income reporting.
Working with data flows and setting up integrations, ensuring the system runs smoothly on an ongoing basis, making updates, troubleshooting issues whilst maintaining data consistency.
Work on system migrations and leading on maintaining proper process structures and documentation during those transitions. Keep track of installed packages, security keys, and their passwords and related administrative processes.
Be responsible for all data imports from our 3rd party platforms, ensure that data is uploaded in line with regular upload schedule in an accurate manner.
Work with the Marketing and Communications team to help implement soft opt-in
Manage one database volunteer to complete database tasks.
3. Data Selections, Segmentation and Campaign Support
Collaborate with the Fundraising team to perform targeted data selections for appeals, newsletters, stewardship journeys, and events.
Develop and maintain segmentation structures and logic to support personalised supporter journeys and strategic targeting.
Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to provide campaign-ready data for fundraising, advocacy, and engagement activities.
4. Reporting and Insight
Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports that provide real time insight into fundraising performance, donor behaviour and campaign results.
Create and deliver regular and ad hoc fundraising analysis to inform strategic decisions and performance tracking.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve donor retention, upgrade journeys and lifetime value through data driven insight.
5. Cyber Security
Work closely with the IT team to manage security/GDPR of the Fundraising crm
Develop knowledge in this area and undertake training as required.
6. Other Duties:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

2. Audit the database regularly to ensure data is clean, accurate, archived in line with data retention policies and that users are following procedures for data entry and management.
Develop and implement a programme of training to support all database users to maximise the benefits the CRM brings:
1. Develop and deliver comprehensive induction and ongoing training and associated ‘How to’ documentation for users.
2. Develop, implement, communicate and regularly review database protocols and procedures ensuring they are up to date and being followed by staff.

You will research grant and funding opportunities, produce background notes, and develop and manage a database of funding sources that will support delivery of the charitable outcomes of the Garden. You will play a critical role in supporting development of the Garden by advising and guiding the team on funding sources and the preparation of funding bids to the highest possible standard, as well as identifying and implementing fundraising initiatives. You will work in close co-operation with staff across a range of disciplines to maximise access to funds. A passion for sustainability and the Garden’s wider mission is highly desirable. Fluency and confidence in written and spoken Welsh will be an advantage.

This fixed term role is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative, forward-thinking partnership, combining holistic, patient-led care with trauma-informed values and support.
KSS Provider Collaborative provides inpatient secure services to adults across the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex area, including women detained under the Mental Health Act. In partnership with The Women’s Support Centre Surrey, Brighton Women’s Centre (BWC) will be delivering 1:1 wellbeing support and group activities to women based in secure forensic units.
The goal is to co-design and deliver weekly group activities aimed at improving well-being, confidence and support. The Women’s Senior Enhancement Worker will also be responsible for a small caseload of women, providing 1-1 support around transitions into the next appropriate setting, which could mean another hospital, supported accommodation or independent living.
Alongside your own caseload, you will provide trauma-informed, strengths-based line-management to a team of two Women’s Enhancement Workers based in other hospitals. Together you will be creating safe, non-judgmental spaces in which to co-produce support across a range of needs, building on your service-users knowledge, confidence and connections.
The Women’s Secure Senior Enhancement Worker will be informed by BWC’s values, policies and procedures and will understand the importance of building trust and self-esteem with service users while working collaboratively with key staff and agencies.
You will be responsible for promoting this service within the partnership and across external pathways, as well as overseeing and completing reporting requirements for this project on the BWC database.
