About the role
We are seeking a PR and Communications Manager to join our ambitious team. We know that incredible work goes on behind the scenes at Smart Works, and that what we do meaningfully helps to change the lives of thousands of women every year. But we need you to help us shout from the rooftops about our service and impact, actively seeking media opportunities and press coverage, to increase our public profile. Your work will make a real difference – spreading the Smart Works message not only to the women we exist to support, but fundraisers, referral partners, volunteers and the public too.
Duties and responsibilities
- You will amplify and lead existing integrated campaigns, including the Smart Works Unemployment Index, International Women’s Day and International Day of the Girl. With the support of the Digital Marketing Manager, Graphic Design Manager and Digital Communications Manager, you’ll ensure our campaigns are widely noticed and talked about, in the press, online and local community.
- You will develop and manage media opportunities (proactive and reactive), including owning our press office, writing and distributing press releases, building relationships with journalists, tracking coverage, and briefing spokespeople.
- You will lead and develop our Client Champions programme and case studies, ensuring the client remains central to the charity’s external voice, proactively seeking opportunities to tell their stories to encourage support/donations from external communities, and managing any nationwide communication moments/events.
- You will support our engagement with Patrons and Ambassadors, managing relationships where appropriate and seeking new advocates who can authentically help tell our story, to reach more people.
- You will lead the coordination of our internal communications calendar and reporting, working with internal stakeholders across Partnerships, Operations and our local centres to ensure that key moments are recognised, with support at a national level where appropriate.
- You will support with other team tasks, such as social media scheduling and content creation.

The successful candidate will report to our Director of Communications and Marketing. The role has no line management responsibility but will work closely with colleagues – including our Digital Marketing Manager, Digital Communications Manager and Graphic Design Manager – so you should be used to collaborating with others, in a dynamic environment.

- Proven experience in a PR, communications, or similar role, ideally within the charity.
- Demonstrable success in securing media coverage, developing and delivering PR plans, managing relationships, and working with ambassadors.
- Outstanding writing, editing and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail, including when working with limited resource and/or under pressure.
- Ability to craft compelling stories, press releases and pitches.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Role overview
· As a member of The Nightingale’s Leadership Team reporting into the CEO, the Fundraising Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the strategic direction of the charity.

Responsibilities
· With an emphasis on High Value Fundraising, develop and implement a multi-channel fundraising strategy to grow and develop The Nightingale’s income stream including major donors, trusts and foundations, individual giving, events and corporate fundraising.
· Provide leadership and supervision to the fundraising team, setting income targets and delivering strategic support.
· Build sustainable, long-term relationships that align with The Nightingale’s fundraising priorities and the creation of clearly defined, measurable targets and KPIs.
· Develop fundraising tools and materials, creating bespoke, high-quality materials that resonate with major donors and support broader fundraising activities such as printed materials, e-marketing, and web-based materials.

The Social Team is made up of a Senior Social Media Manager, two Social Media Managers and a Social Media Assistant. We sit in a wider Brand and Engagement team that includes digital marketing, email and brand.
In this role you will be leading on content, managing the calendar and working with our wider teams on the planning and delivery of Marie Curie campaigns including the Great Daffodil Appeal and the Nobody Should Die in Poverty campaign. You will be responsible for:
Channel management and reputation: you will manage daily content across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and other social platforms with a combined audience of nearly 800,000 followers.
Social media strategy: you will also be responsible for the development of social media strategy for key campaign activity, e.g. Great Daffodil Appeal, National Day of Reflection, and brand campaigns, as well as ensuring social media is integrated into wider communications and marketing plans.
Content creation: leading on content across our national channels, you will work with colleagues in the PR, Content and Creative teams to plan and develop daily content.
Budget management and paid activity: you will lead on our organic paid strategy, working closely with our Digital Marketing Manager, and liaise with external agency on a weekly basis to review and refine our approach. You are the budget holder for this activity, including decision making to optimise best performing content and to maximise reach and engagement.
Regional strategy: you will lead on our regional social media strategy reflecting our aim to become a place-based organisation, working with key stakeholders across the nations, to ensure our local presence is engaging, vibrant and complements our national activity.

Role purpose
As Digital and Social Media Manager, you will be using digital communication channels to support the engagement of our community of supporters, partners, patients, families and staff in the work of the charity and helping realise our shared ambition with the Trust to be national leaders in the delivery of patient care and health innovation.
The Digital and Social Media Manager is part of a collaborative and creative team responsible for the development and delivery of the CW+ Communications and Marketing strategy, including on- and offline communications, PR and media, donor stewardship and marketing collateral, and events support.
Reporting to the Head of Communications and Marketing, the Digital and Social Media Manager will be proactive in shaping and managing the charity’s digital presence (including the website), with a strong focus on tracking and using data. They will inform the direction of multiple exciting strands of work by providing insight into digital trends and performance.
Highlights for the year ahead include:
- Maximising the impact of the charity’s new website (launched September 2024) and ensuring that tracking and conversion metrics are optimised.
- Building and sustaining momentum for the Thirty at Thirty campaign, ensuring that we are consistently focused on building relationships and widening our supporter base via digital channels.
- Celebrating the continued success and impact of the CW Innovation programme, which marks its five-year anniversary in October 2024.

JOB PURPOSE
UK for UNHCR is looking for a Digital Communications Officer to join its team, raising vital support for displaced people around the world through creative campaigns such as the Refugee Dictionary, Cuppa Hope as well as fundraising appeals and partnerships.
Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager, the Digital Communications Officer will have particular focus delivering day to day social media communications, including community management, publishing, content management and development. This role will also support wider digital communications activities, such as with the Senior Digital Communications Officer who manages the website.
This involves identifying opportunities to amplify appeals, campaigns and partnerships through social media to support UK for UNHCR’s fundraising and public advocacy objectives. Raising awareness of global refugee crises and UNHCR’s humanitarian operations forms a central part of this storytelling, as well as thematic campaigns and PR moments throughout the year.
One of your first focuses will be helping grow and verify UK for UNHCR’s TikTok account and LinkedIn presence, in addition to transitioning the charity’s channels to a new social media management tool. You will also work closely with the wider Communications team in supporting online and offline fundraising appeals.
The Digital Communications Officer will also work with the wider Communications team to identify and support storytellers (including refugees and supporters) to share their stories through the charity’s social media channels.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning, coordination and growth
- Deliver and schedule social media content on a daily and weekly basis, with flexibility to respond to news events and emergencies at short notice.
- Produce or commission multimedia content, including videos, graphics and photography to support charity activity on social media.

This is an exciting new role within our Integrated Marketing and Media department, managing a talented Media and PR team, creating impactful moments that inspire action and drive change for men.

As Communications Executive, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our internal and external communications. Collaborating closely with our Head of Communications, you will create impactful content, manage digital channels, engage with media outlets, and ensure our brand and mission resonate with key audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation: Develop compelling written and visual content for multiple platforms.
- Social Media and Digital Presence: Oversee and grow our digital footprint.
- Internal Communications: Foster clear and engaging communication within the team.
- Media Relations: Build relationships with media outlets and secure positive coverage.
- Event Support: Assist in planning and promoting events and campaigns.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Connect with donors, partners, and beneficiaries.
- Brand and Reputation Management: Safeguard and enhance our public image.
- Administrative Support: Provide operational support for communications activities.
What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications, Skills, & Experience:
- Education: Degree in Marketing, PR, Journalism, or related fields is preferred but not essential with equivalent experience.
- Experience: 1-3 years in communications, marketing, or PR, ideally within the charity or public sector.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in content creation tools, social media platforms, and CMS systems.
- Communication Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication.
- Project Management: Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Creativity: A flair for storytelling and design.

We’re recruiting a Social Impact Project Manager for our small team who will do all of this, and more. Working in a small, purpose-led business, our new recruit will find the right non-profits to partner with businesses, project manage the programmes we devise and get stuck into lots of other elements of making a small team a successful one.
The role would be well-suited to people from charities who are looking to move into the CSR / sustainability / ESG space and work more closely with a range of businesses, or your experience might instead have been gained in a corporate or intermediary organisation. You will love the idea of working in a small, purpose-led business and bring loads of initiative and creativity to our small team!
