Why do we need you?

What activities will I be involved in?
• One to one, hour long appointments with service users
• Adjust accessibility settings and teach how to use speech and voice feedback
• Introduce Apps that can help users read documents or listen to audio books.
• Help to troubleshoot technical issues
• Explain the benefits of IT to those who are wary of, or intimidated by modern technology.
What skills and abilities will I need to have?
• A good understanding of using smart phones and tablets.
• Knowledge of Android, Apple or Microsoft operating systems
• Understanding of accessibility settings
• The ability to share your knowledge and skills in a constructive and supportive way
• To be flexible and a problem solver
• Patience and a good sense of humour helps
How much time should I offer?
• This role is flexible but we do look for a regular commitment.
• IT appointments are at our support centres at locations around Warwickshire.
• Rugby, Nuneaton , Coleshill, Atherstone and Bedworth
• Depending on the location sessions are weekly or monthly either 9:30am to 11:30pm or 2:30pm to 4:30pm
Is there an induction and training?
• You will receive an induction when you start
• We will provide any training you need to complete the role
What on-going support/guidance will there be?
• You will be supported by our IT4U team

Will I need my own transport?
• Access to your own vehicle would be an advantage.

What is a Divisional Treasurer?
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas. These are divided into small local areas that we call divisions. Each one has a treasurer to look after the accounts and funds in that division. This is a key role involving financial administration.
Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.
Our branches support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
One of the key ways we help clients is by tapping into various sources of funding on their behalf. Monitoring and reconciling this flow of funding in and out of SSAFA accounts is important to ensure clients receive the support when needed and we can account for all charitable funds in our care.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home. This flexible role involves using our on-line financial management system and on-line bank accounts and so can be done when and where suits you best.
What would you be doing?
- Maintaining and reconciling local bank accounts and recording transactions
- Ensuring funds are available to caseworkers, to provide immediate grants where appropriate.
- Making and recording all authorised payments
- Preparing year end accounts
- Working with the divisional secretary, advise on a local fundraising plan to cover divisional running costs.
- Identifying and returning any surplus monies from grants as appropriate
- Providing reports to the local SSAFA branch and to SSAFA’s Central Office
- Maintaining accurate records on our on-line finance management system
- Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer or fundraiser.
- Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

- Access to a range of e-learning courses
- Support from the Finance Team and Volunteer Experience Team based at our central office.
- Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses
- Volunteers will be covered by SSAFAs Public Liability Insurance whilst carrying out the role.
What are we looking for?
- Friendly and approachable people with some experience of financial administration
- Good written and spoken English.
- Ability to be respectful and non-judgemental with volunteers, other agencies and SSAFA colleagues,
- Ability to send and receive emails – you will receive your own SSAFA email address,
- Willingness to use our on-line banking and on-line finance management system (this is covered in training)
- Reliable attitude: contact volunteers promptly, keep appointments etc.

We are seeking experienced complemnetary therapists, preferably trained massage therapists, to join our team of volunteers offering therapies to our clients affected by cancer here at our Centre in Isleworth, at other agreed local community venues in Richmond or Hounslow, or ad-hoc at local community events. We are particularly keen to recruit massage therapists but we will also consider applications from therapists for reflexology, EFT, acupuncture, shiatsu and reiki.
Applicants need to have spare time of a weekday and be able to travel easily to our area.
All our therapists need to be CNHC registered, have insurance and have or be prpeared to have an enhanced DBS check.

Marie Curie and Northern Health and Social Care Trust have joined together to offer a service to support people at the end of life.
Spending time with patients and/or their relatives, we’re looking for volunteers to provide emotional support, a listening ear, and to simply be there for patients with a palliative diagnosis and their loved ones.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING.
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Support patients in line with agreed boundaries and procedures
- Spend time listening and talking with patients, family, friends, and carers.
- Signpost families and friends to other services, as appropriate
- Write and submit, to the Volunteer Manager, a brief report on each visit.
- Keep the Service Manager informed of any changes of significant happenings in connection with the client, either in person or by telephone
- Be an active part of the team of Marie Curie Companions and the wider team of Antrim Area Hospital’s volunteers.
- Attend regular group support and development sessions for Marie Curie Companions
- Help with other related tasks when necessary.

What would you be doing?
- Managing the branch office (if applicable) and providing support to all volunteers, especially new ones
- Work with the branch Chairperson, treasurer, and others to ensure smooth running of the branch.
- Accepting referrals and coordinating SSAFA caseworkers, visitors, and helpers accordingly
- Oversee all SSAFA casework across the branch ensuring clients get support that is effective and timely.
- Monitor volunteer numbers against the demand for support and recruit new volunteers as needed
- Working with the local training officer to ensure all volunteers are kept up to date with the training and information they need.
- Build relationships with regional and central office staff to ensure an effective flow of information.
- Maintaining accurate records of volunteers and cases, submit accurate data to Central Office
- Providing administration for an annual programme of meetings including an AGM, recording, and implementing decisions

This role is about coordination and administration. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home. The role would suit someone looking to offer a regular time commitment each week.

- Acting as the first point of contact for SSAFA in the local area
- Taking enquiries from potential clients and potential volunteers
- Matching new clients to available caseworkers
- Supporting caseworkers, particularly new volunteers
- Working with the local publicity officer to promote SSAFA locally.
- Providing reports to the local SSAFA branch and to SSAFA’s Central Office
- Maintaining accurate records on our on-line case management system
- Coordinating SSAFA Visitors and Helpers (if applicable)
- Organising local meetings to keep all volunteers up to date with the latest training and information.
- Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer or fundraiser.
- Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

- Mandatory on-line training modules to complete at home, so you are up to date on how to keep clients, their families safe and personal information safe.
- Access to a range of e-learning courses
- Local induction
- Support from the branch secretary.
- Access to the Welfare Team and Volunteer Support Team based at our central office.
- Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses
- Volunteers will be covered by SSAFAs Public Liability Insurance whilst carrying out the role.

There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas. These are divided into small local areas that we call divisions. Each one has a treasurer to look after the accounts and funds in that division. This is a key role involving financial administration.

One of the key ways we help clients is by tapping into various sources of funding on their behalf. Monitoring and reconciling this flow of funding in and out of SSAFA accounts is important to ensure clients receive the support when needed and we can account for all charitable funds in our care.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home. This flexible role involves using our on-line financial management system and on-line bank accounts and so can be done when and where suits you best.
What would you be doing?
- Maintaining and reconciling local bank accounts and recording transactions
- Ensuring funds are available to caseworkers, to provide immediate grants where appropriate.
- Making and recording all authorised payments
- Preparing year end accounts
- Working with the divisional secretary, advise on a local fundraising plan to cover divisional running costs.
- Identifying and returning any surplus monies from grants as appropriate
- Providing reports to the local SSAFA branch and to SSAFA’s Central Office
- Maintaining accurate records on our on-line finance management system
- Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer or fundraiser.

RNID Near You volunteer
Role description
Our volunteers are vital in helping us make life fully inclusive for the 12 million people in the UK who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus. RNID hugely value the contribution of our volunteers and we achieved the Investing in Volunteers quality mark in 2023.
What you’ll be doing
RNID Near You volunteers help us provide free, in-person drop-in sessions for people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus, or want to get their hearing checked. Our volunteers:

Meet and greet people visiting our services, find out what service or information they’re looking for and direct them to the right place.

Support hearing aid users by doing basic maintenance on their hearing aids and providing tips for getting the most from hearing aids.

Help people to take the RNID online hearing check. They take people through the steps in person on a digital tablet.

Provide information on a range of topics related to deafness and hearing loss.

Help us to find supporters and donors by talking to people and providing information on supporting us.

Support us with administrative tasks for the service.
You don’t have to do all types of activities; you can pick the activities you find most interesting and match your skills and experience. Usual time commitment varies but is typically three hours per month.
Full induction and training is provided and you’ll be assigned a supervisor to provide you with on-going support and to introduce you to our community of volunteers.
Requirements
You need to be 18 or over for this role. You may need to be able to travel by car or public transport to different places. We’ll reimburse your expenses in line with RNID’s expenses policy.
We have a legal duty to make sure that all volunteers working either in person and/ or online with children and adults at risk on a regular basis are suitable.
In addition to requesting references, we’ll carry out appropriate pre-volunteering checks in-line with regulations such as Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks in England and Wales, and equivalents in Northern Ireland and Scotland.
