We provide consulting, training, and capacity-building to help queer and trans-led organizations grow safely.

Q+ Collective addresses the systemic barriers faced by queer and trans leaders, which include underfunded organizations, discriminatory policies, and a lack of affirming leadership infrastructure. These structural inequities, particularly for those at the intersections of race and class, limit their access to funding, resources, and influence, ultimately weakening community power and representation in decision-making spaces.

The solution is a consulting and capacity-building hub led by and for queer and trans people. Q+ Collective provides operational support, risk assessment, and strategic guidance to ensure queer-led businesses and nonprofits can grow safely and sustainably. The core model combines: Consulting and coaching for small queer-owned businesses; Organizational strategy to help larger nonprofits strengthen community engagement; and Training and advocacy to create safer, more inclusive environments. Their approach centers joy, safety, and collective care, empowering queer and trans leaders to not only survive but thrive and maximize their impact.

Fundraising & Grant Writing Support

Support Q+ Collective’s fundraising efforts by researching grant opportunities and donors, assisting with grant applications, drafting cases for support, and tracking submission deadlines and reporting requirements. Help organize fundraising pipelines to sustain Q+’s pro bono and reduced-cost services.

Charity Trustee

You and Me Counselling are currently recruiting volunteer trustees to complement the committee members already in their role.

This is a home working role and will be for immediate start.

Our charity

You and Me Counselling is a charitable organisation established in 2011. We are a counselling and psychotherapy service based in Hornchurch, Essex that works with children, young people, adults, and their families in the boroughs of Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest. Our counsellors and therapists work both within schools and from our counselling rooms located in Hornchurch and Ilford.

You and Me Counselling are an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). This means we are fully governed by the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Job Description

As a trustee you will need to:

• Acknowledge emails at least once a day.
• Give a minimum of one hour per week to the role.
• Attend quarterly trustee meetings online.
• Ensure that You and Me Counselling pursues its stated objectives
• Ensure there is regular review of changes that might affect the organisation (political, financial, demographic, etc.)
• Ensure that the charity complies with charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
• Monitor finance to ensure that the charity applies its resources exclusively for its charitable objectives.
• Uphold the good name and values of You and Me Counselling.
• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place.
• Ensure the financial stability of the organisation.
• Supervise, support and appraise the chief executive officer.
• Hold the chief executive officer to account for the management and administration of the charity.
• Ensure that the organisation acts in accordance with employment law and exercises a duty of care to its employees.
• Identify major risks to the organisation and put systems in place to mitigate or minimise the risks.
• Ensure that the organisation has a governance structure that is appropriate to a charity of its size/complexity, stage of development, and its charitable objectives
• Regularly review your own training needs and create an expectation of continuous professional development throughout the organisation.
• Ensure that trustees have an agreed code of conduct and comply with it, and that there are mechanisms for the removal of trustees who do not abide by the principles stated therein.

Specific Skills

The ideal candidate would have one of more of the following:

• Experience in law and governance

• Knowledge of counselling or psychotherapy (as a therapist or client)

• A parent of a young person who has experience of mental health issues

Board Member

Maker Mindz is seeking a mission-driven Board Member to help guide our long-term strategy, expand corporate partnerships, and strengthen our organizational capacity. This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys connecting vision with execution, opening doors to new relationships, and helping a nonprofit scale its impact in STEM education.

Key Responsibilities (in one or more areas):
1. Strategic Alliances & Sponsorships

• Identify, pursue, and help secure corporate sponsorships aligned with Maker Mindz’s mission.
• Advise on partnership strategy with corporations, foundations, and industry stakeholders.
• Leverage professional networks to create meaningful collaborations and funding opportunities.

2. Strategic Direction & Governance

• Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the organization.
• Provide guidance on growth, sustainability, and long-term impact.
• Participate in quarterly board meetings to review progress, challenges, and strategic priorities.

3. Talent & Resource Development

• Assist in identifying and recruiting additional board members, advisors, and volunteers.
• Help connect the organization with technical resources, including engineers, product developers, educators, and industry experts.

• Act as an ambassador for Maker Mindz within professional and community networks.

Evolving Communities is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company that specialises in patient, public and stakeholder engagement and insight to drive and support improvements in health and social care.

Working a national, regional and local level, Evolving Communities delivers local Healthwatch services and Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnerships, and consultancy/advisory work for those who commission, provide and develop health and social care services and products.

About the roles

Evolving Communities is looking to expand its Board with a view to building on the company’s success in health and social care and consultancy/advisory and so develop and expand its business into other areas where the experience of the public voice translates. This could be, for example, care, housing or education.

Key responsibilities include:

• Constructively challenging and helping to develop business proposals and strategy.
• Overseeing the performance of management in meeting agreed goals and objectives and monitoring the reporting of performance.
• Ensuring the integrity of financial information and that financial controls and systems of risk management are robust and defensible.

Who we’re looking for

The existing Board is looking for people to complement their individual and collective skill set and who are interested in and supportive of public advocacy. Candidates may have experience in either:

• Communications and marketing (Ideally within a health-focused organisation)
• Service development within the health and/or social care sectors
• Business development/sales/commercial (ideally from the health and social care sectors)
   

Candidates will also demonstrate a range of knowledge and skills, such as:

• Strategic thinking and planning. Able to analyse complex information, including statistical data. Able to draw logical conclusions and contribute to rational decision making.
• Entrepreneurial mindset.
• Strong communications and interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with a wide a range of stakeholders and audiences.
• An interest in health, social care and wellbeing issues and how these may affect people.

Time commitment and term

This is a voluntary role with a term of three years, with the option to serve for a further two years if invited to do so by the Chair. The commitment involves attending a Board meeting every other month (option to join in person or virtually), and other ad hoc meetings such as training and away days. Overall, this is a role requiring a time commitment equivalent to approximately two days per month.

Community researchers wanted to help East London Waterworks Park ensure our community-owned park is inclusive and welcoming for all.

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are looking for community researchers specialised to contribute to our community-led working circle who are working on on a listening project to ensure often underrepresented voices in conservation and environmental projects are heard and centred. 

There is opportunity to lead on projects and facilitate the direction of the working circle.

The Inclusivity Circle currently meets monthly on a Wednesday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely.

While your experienced research skills are crucial, we also value your ability to engage with the community and build partnerships. Experience in conducting community-based research or working with community organisations is important.
