A Touch of Gentleness is a non-profit CIC shaping a more compassionate culture by putting gentleness, presence, and human connection back at the heart of society, organisations, and everyday life

Please note the locations mentioned are a guide only. This role will require some remote work, and some in-person work around East Sussex. You must be based in the UK to fulfill this role.

Role Purpose

This is a wonderfully social and meaningful role that includes:

• Being a point of contact and support for volunteers,
• Nurturing a sense of community for volunteers in the local area.
• Representing A Touch of Gentleness at network meetings online and in person,

The role provides a beautiful opportunity to nurture community, connection, and gentle leadership in action.

Key Responsibilities

• Reporting to and liaising with the CEO and local Events Co-Ordinator’s
• Contacting  and supporting newly qualified volunteers
• Fostering a Culture of Care amongst volunteers
• Organising occasional coffee meet-ups for volunteers in local areas,
• Networking online and in person with other organisations and charities as an ambassador for A Touch of Gentleness

Skills Essential

• Strong communication, listening and people skills
• A warm and open disposition
• Organised, reliable, responsive and solution-orientated
• Basic IT skills (email, google forms, WhatsApp)
• Ability to work independently while being part of a wider team
• Passion for human connection, inclusion and gentle presence
• A desire to serve others
• Preferably a car driver

• Ability to organise small local fund-raising events.

About A Touch of Gentleness CIC

A Touch of Gentleness is a heart-led not for profit CIC (community interest company ) offering free hand massage and gentle listening presence to individuals in the community and in organisations. With over 150 trained volunteers, we aim to bring more connection through touch and active listening. Through this service we helping to shape a more compassionate culture. One that is grounded in generosity, gentleness, joy and peace.

You'll be raising awareness, & improving understanding of sight loss through delivering RNIB’s Awareness to Action sessions in your local community. Through these engaging sessions, you'll inspire participants to make small changes to their behaviour that make a massive difference in the day-to-day lives of people with sight loss. As a Community Change Champion, this will involve:

• Talking directly with community leaders, businesses, & local groups about ways they can get involved & inviting them to join an Awareness to Action session.
• Delivering RNIB’s Awareness to Action sessions either in person or online, using our resources. You may do this on your own or with a team of other local volunteers, both sighted and with sight loss.
• Sharing RNIB’s information & initiatives so people know we’re here for them.
• If you have a personal link to sight loss, sharing your experience during the session to help give a tangible example of how local people can make a real difference.
• Telling us about any activities you have engaged in via a Microsoft form.

What will you gain from the role?
• First-hand experience in grassroots community engagement & charity outreach.
• The opportunity to develop communication & networking skills.
• Support to learn & or use presentation skills to deliver the Awareness to Action Session in person and virtually.

The Corporate Fundraiser focuses on securing B2B income. You will work directly with businesses and corporate partners, supporting them to organise fundraising activities within their organisation. This includes events such as coffee mornings, sponsored walks or runs, dress-down days, and team fundraising challenges.

No Panic has hundreds of members, and dozens of volunteers. We aim to create a sense of community among our members and volunteers.

The Community Engagement Team Co-ordinator volunteer will be responsible for running activities that will bring this about.

These include holding social events on Zoom and maintaining WhatsApp groups.

The engagement team can use their imagination and interests – events/groups could be anything from book groups to craft sessions. The co-ordinator organises and maintains the activities and can participate in them if desired.
