About the role

Location: Bristol

Hours: 2 hours per week

As a Volunteer Group Facilitator, you will play an important role in supporting group sessions and workshops. You will help create a welcoming, inclusive, and comfortable environment where everyone feels valued and able to participate.

Your responsibilities may include engaging with group members through conversation, welcoming participants as they arrive, and supporting the smooth running of sessions by helping with set-up and clear-up tasks. You may also assist with taking attendance at the start of each session.

Full training and regular supervision will be provided, so you’ll feel confident and supported in your role.

This role requires a Basic DBS check, which will be arranged and paid for by Rethink Mental Illness.

As a Volunteer Group Facilitator you will

• Welcome participants and help create a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment
• Support the development of a safe space where individuals feel comfortable sharing as much or as little as they wish
• Assist with setting up before sessions (e.g. arranging chairs, preparing materials, and taking attendance)
• Help tidy and reset the space after sessions
• Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to support the smooth delivery of group activities

About the service

The Bristol Community Support Services team is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support. The service focuses on helping individuals achieve their goals, improve their wellbeing, and maintain independence while living with mental illness.

The team includes a Service Manager, Recovery Coaches, a Digital Officer, a Group Development Coordinator, and a Peer and Volunteer Coordinator, all working together to provide a supportive and effective service.

This is an exciting time to lead Age UK Stockport’s Board. To be the Chair of Age UK Stockport is to be an active volunteer in our community. But it’s not the easiest volunteering role! It can be challenging, but it will be rewarding.

Our Board has recently been refreshed after the recruitment of three new trustees who, alongside our established trustees, complete the Board membership.

The successful candidate would join the Board as trustee and Chair Designate and then be elected Chair at the AGM in the autumn of 2026.

The Chair leads the Board, ensuring that it governs the charity effectively. You will support the Board to work together well and will manage and support the Chief Executive. The Chair is also an ambassador for the charity. 

Main responsibilities of the Chair

• Provide strategic leadership to the charity and the Board, ensuring effective governance and accountability
• Work in partnership with trustees, the Chief Executive and staff / volunteer team to achieve Age UK Stockport’s mission, vision and objectives
• Plan and chair the Board meetings and the AGM working with others to achieve this
• Act as a spokesperson and figurehead for Age UK Stockport

About the role

The Communication & Outreach Volunteer will work closely with the Communications, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (CMEL), assisting in a variety of outreach and communication tasks. This new role will support the communication of the impact of IRMO’s work externally and, crucially, spend time in the community promoting our services directly. 

By supporting this area of our work, you will play a key role in promoting our services, projects and activities to the Latin American community both in-person through outreach activities such as flyering and attending events, and online through the creation of social media posts. 

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to develop their communication, design or promotional skills and professional experience. They will also be able to use their language, creative and interpersonal skills in a positive and impactful way. 

This role is particularly suited to someone who wants to volunteer with IRMO but wants the flexibility to complete their volunteering tasks on a schedule that best suits their availability and enjoys a flexible working environment. The post-holder will be expected to travel to community hubs regularly, but will also be able to complete tasks at IRMO’s offices or remotely. 

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Personally distributing flyers, posters and informative material to key community hubs such as libraries, shops, cafés and churches

• Support with the creation, translation and dissemination of informative material, such as social media posts, videos and printed leaflets

• Create visuals, flyers, posters and other materials using online tools such as Canva or Adobe Photoshop

• Occasionally accompany the CMEL officer to events or activities to take photos and videos, which can be used online

• Assisting the CMEL officer in actively promoting activities, services and events through different channels

We are looking for someone who is/has:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish or Portuguese and good written English

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Experience or interest in using creative tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite 

• Experience or interest in social media management 

• Experience or interest in creating video or photo content

• Ability to work individually and a willingness to engage with community members 

• Confident and enthusiastic about working in a multicultural and multilingual environment

• Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision

The possible tasks included below are not exhaustive or rigidly defined; an exact role profile is dependent on the skill set of individual applicants. An average day might see you talking to students in a camp to tell them about a new class, or supporting the writing of a grant proposal. Tasks could loosely fall within 4 key areas:

Programmes

• Supporting programme coordinators in maintaining the day to day running of their activities with the Youth or Adult Education Programmes

• Supporting our children’s teachers or workshop facilitators in the planning or delivery of classes or excursions outside of camps

• Communicating key messages about our programmes to our students in camps

Admin, Finance & Logistics

• Supporting our management team in liaising with external partners

• Maintaining organisation-wide financial processes

• Coordinating the arrival and housing of incoming team members

Grants & Partnerships

• Supporting in the identification of relevant grants

• Supporting in grant writing activities

 Communications & Fundraising

• Contributing to the written/visual content of Second Tree’s social media output

• Developing social media strategies to expand our reach and impact

• Supporting the planning and implementation of Second Tree’s fundraising initiatives, such as campaigns

About the role

We are looking for a motivated ESOL Teaching Assistant to support the smooth delivery of our ESOL classes at Pre-Entry and Entry 1 levels for Latin American migrants and refugees. You will assist the ESOL Teacher with classroom delivery following our pre-prepared syllabus and teaching materials, along with a variety of audio-visual aids to improve learners’ speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English.

As an ESOL Teaching Assistant, you will encourage learners to communicate using the structures and vocabulary they have learnt, with a strong emphasis on dialogue and role-playing, alongside more formal exercises and language games.

We are seeking a volunteer holding either a formal teaching qualification (e.g. CELTA, CertESOL or similar) or prior experience in teaching English to speakers of other languages. 

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Support with the planning, preparation and delivery of high-quality ESOL lessons in a community setting

• Mark and provide appropriate feedback on oral and written work

• Guide the class according to the syllabus and learning outcomes as instructed

• Ensure learners participation during class and monitor attendance

• Create a safe and inclusive learning environment, identify gaps and adapt activities to learners’ needs

• Provide one-to-one learner support in class as required, to ensure needs relating to learning difficulties and disabilities are met

• Prepare and set exercises, materials and examination papers as necessary

• Undertake administrative tasks, such as keeping student registers and attendance records

• Provide logistical support with arranging the room, setting out refreshments and class tidy upContribute towards outcome and impact measurement for learners at the end of each term

We are looking for

• A recognised ESOL qualification, such as those listed on the TESOL website, is essential (e.g. TEFL or CELTA) or equivalent experience

• Verbal and written communication skills in English and either Spanish and/or Portuguese

• A flexible and enthusiastic person who is confident working in a multicultural and multilingual environment

• An empathetic approach to working with beneficiaries whose needs may vary or change over time

• Ability to work resourcefully and in collaboration with others

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Support with the planning, preparation and delivery of high-quality ESOL lessons in a community setting

• Mark and provide appropriate feedback on oral and written work

• Guide the class according to the syllabus and learning outcomes as instructed

• Ensure learners participation during class and monitor attendance

• Create a safe and inclusive learning environment, identify gaps and adapt activities to learners’ needs

• Provide one-to-one learner support in class as required, to ensure needs relating to learning difficulties and disabilities are met

• Prepare and set exercises, materials and examination papers as necessary

• Undertake administrative tasks, such as keeping student registers and attendance records

• Provide logistical support with arranging the room, setting out refreshments and class tidy upContribute towards outcome and impact measurement for learners at the end of each term

We are looking for

• A recognised ESOL qualification, such as those listed on the TESOL website, is essential (e.g. TEFL or CELTA) or equivalent experience

• Verbal and written communication skills in English and either Spanish and/or Portuguese

• A flexible and enthusiastic person who is confident working in a multicultural and multilingual environment

• An empathetic approach to working with beneficiaries whose needs may vary or change over time

• Ability to work resourcefully and in collaboration with others

• Good IT skills, including in using Microsoft and Google suite packages, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases

• Good interpersonal and communication skills with attention to detail

• A caring, sensitive and non-judgemental manner

• Knowledge of how to deal with sensitive and confidential information

• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to CRM systems

The difference you will make to cats and people

 Every penny counts when it comes to improving the lives of the thousands of cats and kittens across the UK that need our help each year. Our collection box fundraising volunteers help our volunteer groups raise vital funds by collecting and distributing collection boxes in their local area. Making a difference can mean as little as raising 20p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day, to £150 which is the average cost of a cat in our care.

 What we need from you

You’ll be:

· overseeing the collection and delivery of collection boxes in different locations

· recording donations and thanking local businesses and supporters

· researching local areas for collection box ‘hot spots’

· sharing fundraising ideas with other volunteers and putting these into practice 

· sharing your passion for cat welfare and promoting the work of Cats Protection

Time expectation

Our collection box fundraising volunteers usually spend 1 to 2 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Our fundraising events organisers use their passion for cats and people to plan cake sales, barn dances, quiz nights and everything in between.

Time expectation

Our fundraising events organisers usually spend two to three hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

Cats Protection in Poole are looking for a Volunteer Cashier in our charity shop.

Ideally you'll enjoy fashion, and the fun of a charity shop - you'll help shoppers find hidden gems. You'll help keep us looking beautiful - maintaining the shop floor, filling up our clothing rails, and using your creativity to help create exciting displays. You'll also be meeting our customers and helping them shop, as well as our kind donors, supporters, and cat-lovers!

Your kindness and hard work will help us care for cats and kittens in the Dorset area, with links to our Ferndown homing centre.

Full training will be provided, so experience is not necessary - but enthusiasm is a must!
