The management team spearhead a dedicated team of volunteers who manage a significant turnover of stock weekly.

The team relishes any opportunity to dress up and are often seen in a variety of fancy-dress costumes.

Global Health Access Trust is looking for a Governance & Charity Administration Volunteer to help strengthen the records, policies and administrative foundations of an international charitable organisation working towards registration.

This opportunity would suit someone with governance, legal, charity administration or senior administrative experience who enjoys bringing order, accuracy and follow-through to important organisational work.

Mandy, her staff team and their loyal volunteer team provide first class customer service and have built relationships with our lovely regulars who shop with us, very kindly donate their pre-loved items as well as buy their weekly lottery ticket.

Our Cardigan shop is a long narrow shop on the high street. This space is put to great use with stock displayed on beautiful handmade display pieces, made by the shop team.

There's also a haberdashery section with fat quarters, button bundles and more, created from stock that would usually be unsaleable.

Diane, our shop manager, has been with us from the start and used to fundraise along with family members for Tŷ Hafan before the shop opened.

Amy is a jewellery expert and generates thousands each year because of her specialist knowledge.

Term of opportunity: This opportunity involves participation in two Mosaic programmes during 2026-2027 academic year

Commitment:

• This role involves attending a mandatory in-person training session at the King’s Trust Leeds office, along with up to 3 hours of online training.
• Each programme runs for eight weeks, with approximately one hour per week spent delivering sessions in schools, plus additional time for planning and preparation.
• Education Mentors are expected to support two programmes per academic year, and attend at least six out of eight Mosaic sessions during each programme. 

The King’s Trust Mosaic programme is a group mentoring scheme for learners aged 11-18. Mosaic is delivered on-site with school partners and aims to raise learner aspirations, build self-belief, and develop employability skills for young people. 

As a volunteer Education Mentor, you'll join a dynamic team to deliver the Mosaic scheme in a local school. Mosaic is structured as 8 mentoring sessions delivered over 8 weeks that will aim to build group rapport and cover essential topics like communication, goal setting and problem solving. These sessions will be delivered with a consistent group of young people, ensuring you can build meaningful connections and see their progress over time. Most Mosaic projects conclude with a ‘World of Work’ visit with a local employer, giving young participants first-hand experience of what it’s really like in a contemporary UK workplace.

We are seeking volunteers in the Leeds area who have a passion and drive to make a difference to the lives of young people.

For success in this role, you will need to be an excellent communicator and confident facilitator of group activities, with a willingness to try out new things in a collaborative environment. An educational background is not required, but a genuine interest in engaging with and developing the skills of young people is essential.

Session content and full support is provided to all volunteers via a King’s Trust Youth Development Lead, who can expertly assist with guidance and materials that will help you to make a significant impact on the lives of young people. Full training will be provided to help set you up for success.

In return for your valuable time, you'll become part of a dedicated community of volunteers. You'll experience the satisfaction of directly impacting the success of young people, many of whom face significant barriers and challenges.

Key Considerations:

• This role involves attending a mandatory in-person training session at the King’s Trust Leeds office, along with up to 3 hours of online training.
• Each Mosaic programme runs for eight weeks, with approximately one hour per week spent delivering sessions in schools, plus additional time for planning and preparation.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who combines professional expertise with a genuine desire to create positive change.

You will ideally bring:

• 3+ years’ experience in sustainability management, health and safety, environmental management or a related field.
• Experience developing and implementing sustainability, HSE or environmental strategies.
• Strong understanding of relevant policies, standards, risk management and compliance.
• The ability to translate strategy into practical policies, processes and measurable outcomes.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• The confidence to work across cultures, countries and different organisational environments.
• A collaborative and pragmatic approach, with the ability to influence without relying solely on formal authority.
• A genuine commitment to social impact, environmental responsibility and community empowerment.
• Experience within the charity, non-profit or international development sector would be advantageous, but it is not essential.

Aim of this role
Assessor volunteers support the drop-in sessions in our offices and outreach. They discuss with clients the issues they have come to us for help with. After this (and with full support from the supervisor), assessors discuss next steps and actions with the client to help resolve their issues.

As an Assessor, you will be a part of the service delivery. You will:

• complete an induction to Citizens Advice and training for your role

• help with the drop-in sessions

• complete full assessments with our clients, following CAML processes and procedures

• record a summary of your interactions with clients in our Case Management System and consult with the Supervisor on the day regarding the relevant next steps

• ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion are promoted in our work

• adhere to Citizens Advice Merton and Lambeth’s aims and principles

• maintain all relevant GDPR rules and regulations

Locations
Our main offices in Kennington, Morden and Mitcham and different outreach locations in Merton and Lambeth. All three offices are well-connected to public transport, and the office in Mitcham has a car park.

What we are looking for

You don’t need specific qualifications or skills but you’ll need to:

• excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential

• be friendly and approachable

• respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own

• have good IT skills

• be able to understand information and explain it to others

• be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality and data protection

• be willing to undertake training in your role

Satisfactory references are required before joining the charity.

And we’ll reimburse expenses, too.

Commitment
This role requires you attend our offices or outreach locations in person.

Our offices are open to the public from 9.30am to 3pm, five days a week. During your training, you are required to contribute at least one day in one of our offices and Wednesdays each week for online training. After your training is completed, you required to attend one of our offices at least one full day per week in office. Ideally we ask for a commitment to volunteer with CAML for at least 12 months.

Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is seeking to appoint additional independent members to join our International General Assembly (IGA).

Following appointment to the IGA, independent members are eligible for nomination to the BoT after 1 year as an IGA independent member.

Appointments on the BoT are for a 4-year term limit.

The IGA is the highest body of the new Islamic Relief Worldwide governance structure and consists mainly of representatives elected by Islamic Relief family members across five continents, creating a body that is truly globally representative. It is from the IGA that IRW draws its trustees.

We would like to hear from exceptional applicants with considerable experience and specialist knowledge in a range of professional backgrounds: law, accountancy, audit, humanitarian programming, PR/communications, marketing or fundraising, IT, charity financial policy and strategy, shariah compliance. Those selected will play a vital role in IRW’s strategic work and in helping us respond to key challenges.

As a member of the IGA, it is expected you will be fully committed to the organisational objectives of IRW, sharing our vision, mission and values. You will be expected to attend meetings and be willing to devote the necessary time and effort to the role and to act in the best interest of IRW’s work and its rightsholders.

The Role

Key responsibilities:

• Participate in the oversight of the organisation in accordance with its statutory obligations, making sure that IRW satisfies its regulatory and legal requirements as a charity
• Act in a manner which supports the organisation in meeting aims and objectives as set out in IRW governing documents and in ensuring IRW long-term security
• Focus on strategic planning and governance when setting IRW priorities and objectives
• Participate in the approval of annual plans, strategies and budgets

• Support the financial stability of the charity and contribute to its effective and efficient administration, reviewing and approving financial strategies and monitoring income and expenditure, to ensure the organisation is in good financial health
• Promote IRW’s vision, mission and values and demonstrate IRW’s values in all of the IGA’s work.

About You

We are seeking exceptional candidates with a breadth of leadership experience who can enhance the strategic development of IRW and have the following skills and qualities:

• A deep commitment and passion for IRW’s faith-inspired values, vision and mission
• An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
• Considerable professional experience and specialist knowledge in one or more of the following – law, accountancy, audit, humanitarian programming, PR/communications, marketing or fundraising, IT, charity financial policy and strategy, shariah compliance
• Strategic vision and critical thinking skills
• Skills in problem solving and conflict resolution
• Legislative and operating framework for charities/voluntary and community sector organisations, especially an understanding of Charity Commission requirements
• A good understanding of the context IRW operates within
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; enjoys teamwork
• Willing to be an ambassador for IRW
• Demonstrates past public conduct, statements and behaviour that are in line with IRW’s values and expectations of the role
