Job description

VOLUNTEER FUNDRAISER & GRANT WRITER

HELP POWER SUNSHINE’S MISSION TO BRIGHTEN LONDON

London • Flexible Time • Hybrid & Remote VOLUNTEER Roles

A thoughtful, creative, impact‑driven role for someone who loves storytelling, strategy, and securing the support that helps a new charity grow.

SUNSHINE is getting ready to launch. Our charity status is imminent, our foundations are strong, and our first pilot programmes are on the horizon. Now we’re looking for a warm, organised, persuasive volunteer to help build our fundraising foundations — from writing compelling grant applications to shaping fundraising campaigns that bring SUNSHINE to life.

If you love crafting stories, building relationships, and helping a mission you believe in thrive, this role has your yellow fingerprint heart all over it.

About SUNSHINE

SUNSHINE is London’s new volunteer‑powered movement for connection, belonging, and brighter days. Our symbol is a yellow fingerprint heart — because every person is unique, every story matters, and every act of kindness leaves a mark.

To grow our services and reach more people, we need strong, simple, human‑centred fundraising — and that’s where you come in.

The ROLE

As our Volunteer Fundraiser & Grant Writer, you’ll help secure the resources that allow SUNSHINE to deliver its programmes, support volunteers, and reach people experiencing loneliness and disconnection.

You’ll help us:

  • Research and identify suitable grants, trusts, and funding opportunities.
  • Write warm, compelling, evidence‑based grant applications.
  • Support the development of fundraising campaigns and appeals.
  • Create simple fundraising materials and case‑for‑support documents.
  • Track deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements.
  • Build relationships with funders and supporters.
  • Bring clarity, creativity, and sunshine to every funding opportunity.

This is a role for someone who loves using words, strategy, and storytelling to create real‑world impact.

Who YOU ARE

You’re someone who enjoys writing, planning, and helping good ideas find the support they deserve.

You might be perfect if you:

  • Have experience in fundraising, grant writing, bid writing, or persuasive communication.
  • Enjoy crafting clear, compelling narratives.
  • Are organised, reliable, and comfortable managing deadlines.
  • Understand (or are keen to learn about) charity fundraising.
  • Love supporting a mission that leads with heart.
  • Have a fingerprint heart that shines bright.

You don’t need to have been a Fundraiser before — just bring your writing skills, your organisation, and your sunshine.

What You’ll GET

  • A chance to shape the financial future of a brand‑new charity.
  • A meaningful role with real, measurable impact.
  • A close, collaborative partnership with the Founder and early team.
  • A joyful, human, values‑driven environment.
  • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and charity development.
  • The pride of knowing your words helped change lives.

Your writing will help thousands of people feel less alone.

Ready to Help SUNSHINE Grow?

If you’re excited by the idea of crafting compelling funding stories for a charity rooted in warmth, belonging, and human connection, we’d love to meet you.

Apply now on CharityJob.

Every heart leaves a mark. Let yours help SUNSHINE shine.
