About the Role

As a Maintenance Volunteer, you will help maintain and improve the homes and environments of people with autism, sight loss, and learning disabilities. Your support will help create safe, comfortable, and welcoming spaces where people can thrive.

This role involves practical tasks such as painting, decorating, gardening, and general DIY. Please note that electrical, plumbing, and gas work are not included in this volunteer role.

We are looking for football coach volunteers to help lead and deliver our weekly football sessions to support residents to rebuild body and mind.

Session is currently being run in a park a 5 minute walk from Ditchmore Lane, Stevenage 

Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays 4 to 5pm

Project Resilience provides easily accessible opportunities for our hostel residents to take part in a variety of social and sporting activities to boost overall health and wellbeing.

We are looking for football coach volunteers to help lead and deliver our weekly football sessions to support residents to rebuild body and mind. 

Your responsibilities will include:

· Plan, prepare and deliver engaging weekly football sessions

· Helping with set up/tidying of any equipment 

· Managing and maintaining focus of residents to support their fitness progress and development

· Working closely with Project Resilience Coordinator, maintaining open lines of communication and feedback 

· Assist with any related events such as organising tournaments or community football events 

This role offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to inspire and mentor vulnerable residents, contributing to their health and personal growth. Your commitment to excellence in coaching and resident engagement will not only enhance your professional skills but also make a significant impact on the community.

You will need:

· Previous experience in coaching/running football sessions 

· Being able to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative

· Being empathetic and understanding to the needs of vulnerable residents who may have differing fitness skills and levels 

· Some sort of formal sports training - doesn’t have to be specifically for football but we would like to see some level of education e.g. Level 2 gym instructor plus 

What we will provide:

· A full induction to the role and site will be provided

· You will be required to undertake mandatory e-learning and a menu of optional training will be made available 

· Ongoing supervision and support from your line manager

· Access to organisational events and celebrations throughout the year 

 Please note: You will be required to undergo a DBS check and we will need 2 x references.

About Us

Mind of the Student is a youth mental health charity that works with schools, young people and families to support emotional wellbeing and improve mental health awareness.

Our programmes include EmpowerU, Empowering Young Minds, school mental health workshops, Mind of the Parent and Ambassador Training. Through these projects, we aim to create safe spaces where young people feel heard, supported and empowered.

The Role

We are looking for Programme Support Volunteers to support our delivery team during workshops, school sessions and community programmes.

This is a supportive role where volunteers work alongside a Project Lead or Lead Facilitator to help sessions run smoothly. Volunteers will not be expected to deliver content but will play an important part in supporting students, helping to manage group activities, maintaining appropriate ratios and contributing to a positive environment during sessions.

This role would suit someone interested in mental health, youth work, education, psychology or counselling, as well as anyone looking to gain experience working with young people.

Applicants can express an interest in supporting one or more of these dates. Further information about the session times and venues will be provided to successful applicants.

Responsibilities may include:

• Supporting Lead Facilitators during sessions and workshops
• Helping to create a safe, welcoming and engaging environment
• Encouraging student participation and engagement
• Providing general pastoral support to young people where appropriate
• Supporting behaviour management alongside staff
• Assisting with setting up and packing away resources
• Helping to monitor student wellbeing during sessions
• Escalating any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns to senior staff
• Supporting the general organisation and smooth running of programmes

We are looking for people who:

• Are passionate about supporting young people
• Have an interest in mental health and wellbeing
• Are approachable, reliable and professional
• Feel comfortable working in school or youth settings
• Work well as part of a team
• Are willing to learn and take part in training

Previous experience is not essential.

We especially welcome applications from students or individuals looking for placements or practical experience within mental health, education, counselling, psychology, youth work or related sectors.

• Be based within a 20 mile radius of Havering, Islington, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Newham, Croydon or Southend on Sea
• Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
• Be able to commit to between 0 and 8 hours per week

• Animate the Grid: Turn raw photos and smartphone footage captured by our frontline team at the "SUNSHINE Programmes" into joyful Reels, TikToks, and posts that showcase our real-world impact.

The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) gives old buildings a future - and we’re looking for an experienced strategic thinker and inspiring leader to be our new Chair of Trustees in our 150th anniversary year and beyond.

As Chair, you'll guide us at Board level, champion the SPAB Approach, attend meetings, support our activities and be an ambassador for the country’s oldest heritage organisation.

About Us

We help people to look after old buildings, making them fit for the future while keeping their historic character. We do this through casework, technical research and advice, education and training, awards, outreach and events across the UK and Ireland. 

Our work is underpinned by a conservation philosophy that encourages people to preserve historic fabric. The SPAB Approach provides a well-tested basis for practical decision-making in building conservation. We also encourage excellence in new design to enrich and complement the built historic environment. 

Founded in 1877 by William Morris and his fellow campaigners, the SPAB continues to advocate for old buildings almost 150 years later.

​Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Board in its strategic and policy roles​

• Chair the Board and other meetings to facilitate positive discussion and development​

• Ensure the Board fulfils its legal and charitable responsibilities for the governance of the SPAB​

• Establish a constructive working relationship with the Chief Executive and Honorary Treasurer​

• Reviewing the performance of the Chief Executive and Board​

Key Tasks

• Campaigner: for the SPAB Approach and the conservation of built heritage​

• Strategist: implementing and refining the SPAB’s strategy for 2025-30 by responding to emerging opportunities and risks​

• Fundraiser: supporting the SPAB in fulfilling its fundraising needs​

• Networker: making connections and influencing at a senior level (not just in the heritage sector)​

• Publicist: raising the professional and public profile of the SPAB and its members in the UK and overseas​

• Teambuilder: developing Board members and staff​

• Organiser: facilitating Board processes and leading on improving governance practice​

As the Head of Communications, you'll lead the development and delivery of North West First Responder Group's communications strategy, ensuring our story reaches communities, supporters, volunteers and partners across the North West.

What you'll do

As Head of Communications, you will:

• Develop and implement the charity's communications and marketing strategy.
• Lead and support our team of Communications Officers.
• Oversee the creation of content across social media, our website, newsletters and other digital platforms.
• Ensure all communications reflect the charity's brand, values and objectives.
• Plan and coordinate campaigns to support fundraising, recruitment, awareness and community engagement.
• Build positive relationships with media outlets, partners and external organisations.
• Produce or oversee press releases, media statements and promotional materials.
• Monitor communications performance and identify opportunities to increase engagement and reach.
• Work closely with the Chief Executive, senior leadership team and trustees to promote key organisational priorities.

What we're looking for

• Experienced in communications, marketing, public relations or digital media (professional or voluntary).
• A confident writer with excellent attention to detail.
• Passionate about storytelling and community engagement.
• Experienced in managing social media platforms and digital communications.

• A supportive leader who enjoys developing and motivating volunteers.
• Creative, strategic and always looking for new ways to increase the charity's impact.

Experience within the charity sector is beneficial but not essential.

What you will be doing

• Activity Organisers - Love planning? Help coordinate amazing events like charity dinners, carol concerts, and local fairs.
• Event Champions - Be the friendly face of SSAFA! Help at events, chat with visitors, sell merchandise, and spread the word about our work.
• Promoting SSAFA Services - Help provide a warm, welcoming presence at Veterans Breakfast clubs, cafes or hubs - offering information about SSAFA services and signposting as appropriate.
• SSAFA Storytellers -Deliver engaging talks to organisations and groups, sharing SSAFA’s incredible history and mission.
• Community Connectors - Collaborating with the Community Engagement Manager to establish a local network, promote SSAFA's services, and respond to community opportunities such as gardening projects.
• Fundraising Heroes - Whether it’s rallying local businesses, organising events, or getting creative with unique fundraising ideas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping SSAFA’s support going strong.
• Administrators - Are you detail-oriented and love keeping things organised? Assist with branch and event administration, manage schedules and branch calendars, and ensure everything runs smoothly currently being undertaken.

The skills you need

• Be friendly and approachable.
• Confident to engage with the public, potential clients, volunteers and SSAFA colleagues face-to-face.
• Reliable attitude, staying connected with your Branch and/or Community Engagement Manager about your availability.
• Access to public transport or a car to get to events if necessary.
• Basic IT skills would be an advantage.
