About Us
We are a mission-driven Community Interest Company dedicated to early intervention against online harms and the prevention of child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSEA) and violence against women and girls (VAWG). Rooted in a behavioural science approach combined with systems thinking, we work to understand the contemporary online context for children and young people and pathways to engaging with harmful content, develop evidence-based interventions which support healthier sexual and social development, and create safer communities through primary and secondary prevention.
Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and proactive Volunteer Researcher to help us on our Insight and Understanding workstream; conducting primary and secondary research as well as providing guidance on commissioned research. This is a key voluntary role for someone with a background in social research who wants to use their skills to make a measurable difference in a sensitive but vital area of public benefit, increasingly recognised as an urgent issue and one in receipt of growing governmental attention.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on experience and availability, responsibilities may include:
- Conducting desk-based research and literature reviews (academic, policy, and grey literature)
- Contributing to the establishment of the organisation’s Research Ethics Policy
- Supporting the design of research projects, including research questions, methods, and tools
- Assisting with data collection (e.g. surveys, interviews, focus groups), where appropriate
- Supporting data analysis (qualitative and/or quantitative)
- Summarising findings into clear written outputs (briefings, reports, blogs, or presentations)
- Supporting evidence gathering for funding applications, policy submissions, or advocacy work
- Contributing to the maintenance of research logs, references, and documentation
- Adhering to the organisation’s research ethics and data protection policies at all times
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Experience in social research, public policy, or social impact
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

- Ability to work on highly sensitive topics related to issues including: pornography, violence, sexual offending, and misogyny.
Desirable
- Undergraduate or postgraduate study (completed or ongoing) in a relevant field (e.g. social sciences, psychology, criminology, education, public health, data science)
- Familiarity with research methods such as surveys, interviews, and digital ethnography
- Experience conducting literature reviews or academic research
- Thematic data analysis skills
- Understanding of issues relating to online harms, child safety, or digital wellbeing and familiarity with safeguarding
- Familiarity with behaviour change frameworks (e.g. COM-B, Behaviour Change Wheel)
Time Commitment
- Approximately 10-20 hours per month
- Flexible schedule, with occasional online meetings
- Project-based with ability to work on discrete project or ongoing basis, as preferred

Would you like to work with our Museum team on Fabric of Community: St John Ambulance Uniform and Volunteer Identity, a two-year project to transform the way we care for and share our extensive uniform collection.
his is a hands-on role that will give you the opportunity to work with historic objects, all while unlocking the potential of an important and fascinating collection.
The project has been made possible with Art Fund support. What will you be doing? Working as part of a team to identify, audit and research the uniform collection. Sharing new discoveries through supporting blog posts and other public engagement activities. Representing St John positively and in line with our HEART values.
Requirements for the role? An interest in the history of St John’s lifesaving work. Passion for sharing heritage with new audiences and making good-quality data accessible. Close attention to detail. Familiarity with Office 365. Volunteering will take place at the Museum of the Order of St John in London.
Full training will be provided and no previous experience working in Museums or Archives required. How often will you be volunteering? The commitment is one day per week, Wednesdays, 10am – 4pm. There will also be a conservation workshop on Wednesday 4 March which all team members need to attend (10am – 4pm).

About the Role

We’re looking for two Community Connectors, over the age of 18 years old, based at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Infirmary Square, Leicester.

Harry’s HAT is a UK-based charity focusing on paediatric hydrocephalus.

Are you passionate about the world of gaming? STAMMA’s Minecraft club is a project which aims to bring young people aged 7-14 who stammer together through the exciting world of Minecraft! Our club plays in a private virtual realm where we can build exciting creations and collaborate on imaginative group projects. And you can be part of it too!
We know that the world can feel like a lonely place for young people who stammer. We want to help people connect and show them how great being part of the stammering community can be.
We’re looking for people to join us to be Minecraft session leaders. We’ll support you to lead short 1-hour ‘play together’ sessions in our virtual world 2x a month on a Tuesday or Thursday evening 6-7pm.
Please note that this volunteer role is only open to people who are resident in the UK.
Basic information
Hours: 3 hours a month plus one quarterly catch-up session on Zoom (amounts to 2 sessions a month of 1.5 hours)
Day and time: A regular slot on either Monday/Thursdays 5.45-7.15pm (session runs 6-7pm)

What does the role involve?
As a Minecraft Session leader, we’re hoping you’ll feel comfortable to:
- Run a ‘play together’ session for young people who stammer either on your own or with another session leader. Sessions are usually run by two volunteers working in partnership.
- Help to keep our Minecraft realm a friendly space for everyone.
- Support new players, such as showing them around the world, introducing them to other players and answering any questions they have.
- Helping families to set up Minecraft on their device and access the session for the first time.
What support would you get?
We'll help you through a training programme, which will include online training modules and some shadowing. This training is likely to take around 5-6 hours in total and can be completed in bite-sized amounts to suit your schedule. We will also provide ongoing support through our quarterly catch up sessions for Minecraft session volunteers to share experiences and explore any concerns or challenges.
What would you need?
- A quiet place where you can work in privacy and not be overheard during calls
- A console/computer with Minecraft installed
- A second device where you can take part in a Zoom call
- Stable internet connection which supports gaming
Who might enjoy this volunteer role?
You’re likely to enjoy volunteering with our Minecraft groups if you:
- Are experienced at playing Minecraft.
- Enjoy listening and talking to young people.
- Have a genuine curiosity about people and their experiences.
- Are passionate about making the world a better place for people who stammer.
It’s not essential to stammer if you are interested in volunteering with us, but you may particularly enjoy this role if you do. Your personal experience of stammering can be very useful!
Other Information
As a volunteer you can, of course, step back from the role at any time. However, both you and the Minecraft club are likely to get most out of the opportunity if you’re able to volunteer with us for at least 12 months. By gradually learning and developing your confidence in the role, you can have the biggest impact.
This is a volunteer role and is unpaid. As this is a role where you will be working with children and young people, we will need you to complete a DBS check with us before you can lead any sessions on your own.

About this key role
You’ll join us in mentoring children and young people who are victims of, or have been affected by exploitation, or who are frequently missing from home. Receiving full training, including a Level 3 Information Advice and Guidance qualification, you’ll provide support to SOS+ caseworkers developing and delivering educational sessions to children and young people between the ages of 10-25 years, on topics such as: weapons awareness; the reality of prison; gangs; county lines; and child sexual exploitation.
We positively encourage applications if you’ve previously worked on a client-led support project, and/or have had personal adverse experiences such as homelessness, substance misuse, debt, involvement with gangs, etc. This includes having had experience of the criminal justice system and serving a prison sentence. (You will need to demonstrate how your lived experience supports your ability to benefit our clients).
What we are looking for
- Relevant knowledge/understanding, preferably with lived/personal experience of the Criminal Justice System, and/or having been affected by criminal or sexual exploitation.
- Experience with socially excluded children, young people and/or adults.
- Experience of providing advice and guidance and/or mentoring (not essential).
- Award in Education & Training and/or Mentoring Level 3 qualification (or willingness to work towards).
- Ability to communicate and understand different experiences and perspectives without judgement.

Detailed description
You’ll find plenty of ways to use your listening skills as well as being a first point of advice for practical concerns that young people face or for supporting them in fun and exciting activities and games. We have our Youth Sessions based in Watford, Hatfield and Cheshunt.

You will be:
Supporting youth work activities and workshops
Supervising young people in discussion sessions
Building positive relationships with young people
Working with other staff to plan and evaluate activities by gaining feedback

East London Waterworks Park is looking for volunteers to lead social media and content creation for communications and campaigning for our community-owned park.
East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces.
We are looking for social media and content creator leads to participate in our community-led working group who are promoting public awareness and support of the project.
There is opportunity to lead on projects across communications, content creation, social media, PR, newsletters, film, podcasts or any other channels of interest, and facilitate the direction of the working group.
The Comms Circle currently meets every 4 weeks on a Tuesday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely.
You will be at the forefront of our digital strategy to create a huge new biodiverse park and natural swimming ponds. We’re looking for creative and strategic thinkers who can craft compelling narratives and visually stunning content. You should have a deep understanding of social media platforms and analytics tools to measure and optimize our campaigns. Your ability to build and engage with online communities is crucial, as is your skill in managing media relations. We value individuals who are passionate about our mission and can bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the role. You will be comfortable with community-led processes. This friendship group was started to provide opportunities for people with learning disabilities to make friends, go on monthly trips and overall have a lot of fun. You can help us make that happen!
An opportunity is available to volunteer at a friendship group for adults with learning disabilities No prior experience is required. Enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and a supportive attitude are what matter most.
Projects You May Support
Volunteers can choose to help with one or both projects:
1. Friendship Group
- When: Every Tuesday during term time, 1:30pm–4:30pm
- Where: Canning Town Library
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting participants during various activities (e.g., reading tasks).
- Encouraging communication and helping build friendships.
- Boosting confidence through positive interaction.
- Assisting with setting up and packing away activities.
- Helping individuals get refreshments.
- Building trust through calm, kind engagement.
- Reporting any concerns, incidents, or disclosures to staff.
2. Joy Hub
- When: Usually the last Tuesday of each month during term time (timings may vary; activities announced up to 4 months in advance).
- Purpose: Monthly free outings planned by the Friendship Group—examples include bowling, cinema, theatre, and museum visits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring everyone feels included.
- Encouraging individuals to participate and build confidence.
- Helping with practical tasks such as navigating meeting points, refreshments, and transitions between activities.
- Building rapport through supportive, calm interactions.
- Reporting any concerns or incidents to staff.

Project overview:
Alfriston Outreach Service is dedicated to helping older and vulnerable people in Kingston. We provide services such as Hot Lunch delivery, Shopping, and Laundry delivered into people’s homes, with our aim to support older people to remain independent in their own homes.
About us:
Mind in Kingston supports people with mental health issues and raises awareness within Kingston and surrounding areas. We provide training, supervision, and opportunities for career development.
Volunteers are extremely valued within our team and a vital part of our service delivery. We welcome applications from people from all walks of life, including those who may have personal or professional experience of mental health. While lived experience can bring valuable perspective, it is not a requirement for volunteering with us. Our focus is on providing volunteers with the training, guidance and supervision they need to feel confident in their roles and to develop their skills. Volunteers are supported to succeed and offered opportunities to connect with trustees, staff and other volunteers both professionally and socially. Above all, we value the contribution volunteers make to our community and are committed to recognising their achievements.
Main purpose of the role:

Support and assist the Lunch Delivery.

Deliver the Hot Lunches into people’s homes.

Report any observations or concerns about service users’ wellbeing to the supervisor.
Tasks will include:

Supporting the Driver on the Lunch Delivery.

Carrying Hot Meals into Service Users Homes.

Using Key Safes to open doors where necessary.
-
Delivering Laundry and Shopping to some Service Users.

Provide a point of contact for Service Users.

Reporting on changes in Service Users well-being.

Reporting back any safeguarding concerns immediately to the supervisor.

Maintain regular contact with the supervisor.

Attend meetings and supervision sessions.

We ask volunteers for two references, one of which must come from someone who has supervised you recently in your work or studies, such as a current or previous employer or a tutor. You will also need to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, as you will be working with vulnerable adults.
