We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan. We’d love the general public to understand what we do and how they can help us.
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
Volunteer Caseworkers are the lifeblood of SSAFA, supporting a growing number of people in need of financial, practical, and emotional support. Clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like Iraq or Afghanistan.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
The essential part of the role is visiting clients, so you will need access to a vehicle or another way to travel to meet clients at home or in a care home setting. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but you can complete the administration part of the role from home as long as you have access to IT equipment and the internet.

The Government of Uzbekistan is prioritising improved English language learning across the education system as part of national development reforms. In partnership with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, VSO will place experienced and passionate volunteer teachers in public secondary schools to strengthen English language teaching and learning outcomes.

• Leading extracurricular language activities and English clubs
• Integrating technology and modern teaching methodologies in the classroom
Eligibility Criteria
• Graduate in Education / TESOL / Linguistics or related fields
• Final-year undergraduate or master’s student (who completes the course by July 2026)
• Fluent in English language (minimum C1 level)
• CELTA / TEFL / TESOL / DELTA preferred

As a First Response Volunteer, you will help find those rough sleeping quicker, and enable Outreach workers to spend more time supporting those found to move away from the streets and get connected to other local services. First Responders play a crucial role to ensure people sleeping rough receive vital support. This is not a client-facing role and therefore is well suited to somebody looking for their first role in the homelessness sector. However, we do also offer development opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge about rough sleeping for those interested.
On shift, you and a partner volunteer will be given a list of people who have been seen sleeping rough. Your role is to identify those who are sleeping rough, and pass information about referrals to the Outreach team to follow up on – they will help the person find accommodation and link them into non-accommodation-based support for example around physical or mental health.

What is the role?
The RAF Museum has acquired large collections of photographs showing aviation at the end of the 20th century. Help is needed with the digitization and cataloguing of the collections with the aim of getting them online. It is also hoped these images can be used in the new exhibition being prepared for the RAF Museum’s Midlands Development Programme and will add value to the project.

What will I be doing?
This role will involve tasks such as
· Sorting the collections and storing in conservation grade materials,
· Digitization of the transparencies and negatives,
· Cataloguing and indexing of the images,
· Filing the digital images according to Museum policy and updating the digital asset management system,
· Providing images for the team developing content for the new exhibition at the Museum’s Midland site.
This role is perfect for you if you…
· Have a good knowledge of 20th century aviation,
· Can work independently,
· Seek accuracy and attention to detail,

How much time would I need to commit?
There are two collections needing volunteers, Monday to Thursday, 10am to 5pm with an hour for lunch. Ideally each volunteer will allocate one day a week but we can be flexible.

A bit about this role
At Cats Protection we passionately believe that neutering cats before they can breed is an essential part of cat ownership, and without neutering the UK’s cat population would quickly get out of control. Our neutering volunteers help spread positive neutering messages and make it easier for owners on low incomes to get their cats neutered. They help raise awareness of the benefits of neutering, promote our neutering schemes and respond to enquiries from members of the public.

Time expectation
Our neutering volunteers usually spend between two to four hours a week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

At Chestnut Tree House we will be opening a brand-new Kitchen Garden to supply produce to our hospice kitchens. There are large beds which will cultivate vegetables as well as an area for fruit bushes and trees. An activities area with raised troughs for the children, young people and families to enjoy planting will be at the centre, with paths around the fruit and vegetable beds.
We are looking for someone with passion and knowledge to help us keep the area in tip top condition maintaining and developing the space.

We have an opportunity for a volunteer based in our Salisbury office to support our busy supporter care/membership team. You will help the team to ensure our members and supporters receive the highest standards of care and an excellent experience.
What you will be doing
This dynamic opportunity could involve anything from answering supporter queries and letter stuffing, to updating supporter records, filing and researching.
Location – This role is based at Plantlife Head Office in Salisbury, Wiltshire, so we are looking for a volunteer who is based in or around Salisbury. Ideally, we would prefer someone who lives in close proximity to our office.
Time commitment – We are looking for someone who can volunteer one day per week with us in our Salisbury office, aiming to give 5 hours or more (Wednesday or Thursday).
