Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled CiviCRM Specialist / Developer to optimise and manage our CiviCRM platform. You will customise systems, resolve technical issues, and enhance workflows, ensuring our data, reporting, and processes run smoothly.

This is a key role that will directly influence how we engage with members, volunteers, and stakeholders. While initially a volunteer position, there is strong potential for this to become a paid role as the organisation grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Customise and configure CiviCRM (modules, forms, workflows, reports)
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs and system issues
• Develop new features and functionality to support organisational needs
• Integrate CiviCRM with platforms such as Drupal or WordPress
• Train staff and volunteers on system use and best practices
• Monitor performance, data integrity, and system security
• Recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and user experience

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience with CiviCRM development and administration
• Strong knowledge of PHP, MySQL, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and APIs
• Experience with Drupal and/or WordPress integration (preferred)
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Experience building workflows, automation, and reports
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities
• Excellent communication skills, including training non-technical users

As a maintenance (handyman) volunteer at SeeAbility, you will support the facility in maintaining a safe, functional, and pleasant environment for people we support and our teams.

This position requires a reliable, skilled, and proactive individual who can carry out general maintenance tasks and assist with small repairs around the property. Your efforts will directly contribute to the well-being of the people we support and ensure that the home remains a comfortable and secure place for all.

Skills Required 

• Perform general maintenance and minor repairs to the building and facilities, including but not limited to:  carpentry, painting, decorating and repairing

• Assist with the installation of furniture, fixtures, or equipment, ensuring they meet safety standards.

• Ensure that all tools and materials are properly maintained and stored safely.

• Help identify potential maintenance issues before they become problems.

• Report more complex repairs or safety concerns to the Facility Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.

• Support the care home during renovation or redecoration projects.

• Work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff to ensure the upkeep of the home.

• Would not be asked to carry out and electrical or plumping works

• Adhere to health and safety guidelines, ensuring all tasks are completed with care and in compliance with regulations

All these courses will take approximately 40-60 minutes, apart from the First Aid which is 2 hours

Introduction to African Adventures Foundation

African Adventures Foundation is a registered charity set up in 2013 to provide support to 34 schools in developing areas of Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar.

These schools provide education, health and food security, and social support to young people whose access to these basic services would otherwise be very limited. African Adventures Foundation helps by funding food security programmes, the construction of important school facilities, and hygiene projects that will benefit children’s health and education.

Our mission is to provide more children with a quality education and better opportunities in life.

 All trustees are responsible for governing a charitable company and directing its management and operation. They must also ensure that the trust complies with all legal and statutory requirements.

About the role

The Secretary supports the effective governance and administration of the African Adventures Foundation. The role ensures that the Board of Trustees operates efficiently, meetings are properly organised and recorded, and the charity complies with regulatory and administrative requirements. The Secretary works closely with the Global Chair, Treasurer, and other Trustees to ensure the charity follows best practice in governance and maintains accurate records.

As an ambassador, they also support external stakeholder and donor activities ensuring compliance to the standards required. 

Key Responsibilities 

Governance and Administration

• Support the Global Chair in ensuring AAF is effectively governed and operates in line with its governing document.
• Ensure trustee meetings are properly administered, including preparing agendas, coordinating papers, and taking accurate minutes.
• Ensure that trustee decisions and discussions are clearly recorded and stored appropriately.
• Maintain up-to-date records of trustees, governance documents, and key organisational information, including steward of the governance schedule for all territories.

Meeting Management

• Ensure that trustee meetings are properly administered and recorded.
• Circulate agendas, minutes, and supporting papers to trustees in a timely manner.
• Ensure other meetings, such as the Annual General Meeting (AGM), and key organisational events are properly administered.
• Ensure that minutes from meetings are approved and maintained as part of the charity’s official records.

Compliance and Record Keeping

• Ensure that records required by regulators are properly maintained, including those required by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
• Maintain accurate governance documentation, including trustee appointments, resignations, and declarations of interest.
• Ensure that Charity Commission and other relevant organisation records are maintained and kept up to date.

Regulatory Reporting

• Ensure required information is filed with regulators in accordance with statutory deadlines.
• Submit annual returns and other required filings to regulatory bodies in the correct format and within required timescales.
• Support the Board in ensuring compliance with relevant guidance from bodies such as the Charity Commission for England and Wales and the Fundraising Regulator.

Monitoring Actions and Board Support

• Maintain an action log for trustee meetings.
• Monitor committee member action points and follow up where necessary.
• Support trustees by ensuring they have access to relevant governance information and documents.
• Assist the Board in maintaining good governance practices and transparency.

What we are looking for

• Strong, organisational and administrative skills.
• Ability to take clear and accurate meeting minutes.
• Good attention to detail and record-keeping ability.
• Understanding of governance responsibilities within the UK charity sector.
• Ability to communicate effectively with trustees and stakeholders.
• Previous experience as a charity trustee or secretary.
• Ideally familiar with governance requirements of the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
• Experience supporting boards, committees, or governance structures.

Terms of appointment

Terms of office

• Trustees are appointed for a 2-year term of office, renewal for 2 further terms to a maximum of 6 years.
• This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Time commitment (Estimated at one day per month, but can vary)

• Attend the board meetings – a mix of online and in person.
• Additional time for preparation and distribution of meeting documentation. Time to manage governance records and regulatory submissions throughout the year.

Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

Role Responsibilities

You can choose the areas that best suit your skills and interests. The role is flexible, and volunteers may opt to support one area or several.

1. Stock & Donations Management

• Sort donated items to ensure they are appropriate for sale or event use.
• Organise and manage stock ahead of upcoming events.
• Monitor stock levels and identify when outreach or additional donations are needed.

2. Event Support

• Attend fundraising events, engaging confidently with the public and sharing information about our work.
• Assist with setting up equipment and displays and help with packing away after events.
• Ensure stalls are well presented, welcoming, and visually engaging.
• Support sales of merchandise and the running of games/activities.
• Take photographs throughout the event for promotional use and reporting.
• Observe and record visitor numbers, engagement levels, and which stall features attract attention.
• (Optional) Act as a Stall Leader, taking the lead on the day to coordinate volunteers and ensure a smooth event.

3. Transport & Logistics

• Transport equipment, displays, and stock to and from event venues (using your own vehicle if appropriate).
• Help with stall setup upon arrival at the venue.

4. Admin Coordination

This is a key support role that helps keep the fundraising function organised and running smoothly.

• Booking events and completing relevant forms.
• Maintain a current contact list of volunteers.
• Manage and update volunteer availability rotas.
• Keep the fundraising project spreadsheet accurate and up to date.
• Update the “cat book” or event information pack ahead of each event.

What We’re Looking For

• Friendly, confident communicators who enjoy speaking with the public.
• Organised, reliable volunteers who can work both independently and as part of a team.
• Individuals happy to support practical tasks such as setting up stalls or sorting stock.
• Volunteers with basic administrative skills (for those taking on admin coordination).
• A willingness to try new things and get involved in a variety of event activities.
• Ability to carry light–moderate items for event setup (helpful, but not essential).

Time Commitment

This is a highly flexible role and can fit around your other commitments. Whether you can spare occasional hours for events or prefer a regular admin-based role, your contribution will make a meaningful difference.
