Our fundraising events organisers have the exciting and varied role of helping plan and deliver local fundraising events to raise the vital funds needed to help cats. CHAS runs a number of charity shops locally, selling donated stock as well as new goods to raise the vital funds required to care for children and their families. You will be volunteering within our busy retail team, assisting with important stock room management tasks, the day to day running of the shop floor and providing excellent customer service.

By selling goods in the shops you are directly raising the funds that enable us to support children with a life-shortening condition and their families.

You can volunteer Monday to Sunday, in the morning or afternoon. Shifts usually last for four hours, but this can be flexible. This can be weekly, fortnightly, monthly, and even on a bank basis.

Role description attached provides more information on the role and responsibilities.   For this Trustee role we are particularly seeking individuals with demonstrable  experience in Child protection from the perspective of the Family Court, in particular with insights into safeguarding.

Commitment

• Each year, our Trustees are expected to attend four regular board meetings, from 5 to 7 pm in Central London. In addition, Trustees would attend potentially four meetings of any sub-committee of which they are a member. Further time is required for reading of papers before meetings.
• You would also receive invitations to various Childhood First events in the communities, which are optional but strongly encouraged to help better understand the work and feel a connection to the charity.
• We are particularly cognisant of the need to be flexible in the demands we make of Trustee colleagues. Each year there is an opportunity to meet with the Chair for mutual feedback and to discuss ways in which Trustees might wish to develop their roles.​

Ready to make a difference to a young person's life? Team Up is seeking dynamic volunteers to help transform the lives of disadvantaged pupils by improving their grades and building confidence in their learning.

We are recruiting inspirational role models who will tutor English or Maths once a week on one of our 10-12 week online programmes, starting in September 2026. 

You will be matched to a small group of care-experienced pupils who need extra support to reach their full academic potential. Equipped with full training and detailed lesson plans, you will provide them with the academic support, encouragment and inspiration they need to get back on track. Our tuition programmes aim to build not just academic strength, but confidence and positivity towards learning as well. 

All our volunteer tutors receive full training and support from a programme manager throughout the programme. . 

Practical Considerations:

• Our online programme runs on Tuesday afternoons from 17:00 till 18:00.
• The start date is mid-September (date TBC)
• Sessions are 60 minutes and take place via Teams. Tutors are expected to be online 15 minutes prior to their session. There is a 15-minute debrief with your progarmme manager after each session.
• This role requires you to undergo a free of charge enhanced DBS check, arranged by Team Up.

• Strong grades in English or Maths
• Experience working with young people

This is a genuinely low-commitment opportunity focused entirely on governance and strategic oversight. There are no operational duties, fundraising targets, or delivery responsibilities, just informed decision-making and supporting the long-term development of the organisation.

Providing a confidential non-judgemental listening ear to Residents and Staff. Supporting those wishing to develop their spiritual journey from a Christian perspective. The role will be based across one of our hostels in Watford, Borehamwood, Bishop's Stortford, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield or High Wycombe, 

Activities include:

• Proactively engaging with Residents and staff to build safe relationships and trust
• Offering a ‘listening ear’ to all and giving emotional support
• Sensitively discerning when to offer prayer and support from a Christian perspective, and when to use faith based language

About the role: 

This volunteer role involves providing information, support and advice, particularly around welfare benefits and housing to Carers through one-to-one case work.

Our Charity:

Role Overview

The Volunteer Safeguarding Lead will be responsible for ensuring that Guardian Light Foundation and Guardian Light Enterprises Ltd maintain the highest standards of safeguarding for children and vulnerable individuals. This role is critical in creating a safe, compliant, and supportive environment across all services and activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and regularly review safeguarding policies and procedures

• Act as the main point of contact for all safeguarding concerns or incidents

• Provide guidance and support to staff and volunteers on safeguarding matters

• Ensure all team members understand and follow safeguarding protocols

• Manage and document safeguarding reports, ensuring appropriate action is taken

• Liaise with external agencies (e.g. social services, local authorities) where required

Requirements
