About the Role
We are seeking a volunteer Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide strategic and operational leadership across our national and local operations. Chill-in Youth Club - ages 11-25 years - less complex needs. Every other Tuesday 4.30-7.30 in Herne Bay. Children love to make slime, do crafts, enjoy outside play and games, bake cakes and much more! This can be a lively session, depending on which children book on, so your help is much needed so we can keep an eye on all the different areas.
Family Days out - families with all needs. These are held during all school holidays and range from a day at the beach or pool, diggerland, bowling or Mote Park. Providing support from staff and volunteers enables many families to attend, so your support is crucial. Play with children, provide an extra pair of hands at the beach to keep children safe, or create fun games at the park.

DofE Award Program Manager / Co-ordinator

Summary
CAG was formed in 2009 and became a charity, CAG Trust, in 2019. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a UK charity that makes a difference to young people’s lives and prepares them for life and work. Young people from every possible background take part in the DofE programme each year to broaden their horizons, develop their leadership skills, learn to work with others, volunteer in their local communities, increase their employability, and prove to themselves they can succeed at a serious challenge.
The DofE Manager will perform a vital role to ensure that The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is operated in accordance with the terms of the CAG Licence agreement and support the DofE’s mission. They will develop, support and promote the delivery of the DofE within the remit of CAG.
Description
We are looking for someone to manage and coordinate our DofE program. To get the most out of this role, you’ll probably have worked with young people before and have a love of the great outdoors and maybe into paddling, cycling, mountain biking and walking. You’ll be comfortable with the skills needed to complete expeditions (e.g. navigation, map reading, using a compass), and be able to cope with changing and challenging situations.
Formal qualifications in outdoor leadership (e.g. BEL or ML awards) or other skills (e.g.canoeing) are welcomed but not essential.
The key tasks of the role are to:
Young People
Ensure the delivery of high quality programmes and identify opportunities for increased participation.
Manage the provision of safe and enjoyable DofE programs for participants.
Issue badges and certificates on completion of Awards.
Arrange suitable opportunities to celebrate young people’s DofE achievements.
Purchase Welcome Packs and assign Participation Places.
Deal with complaints and queries in an efficient manner.
DofE Groups
Authorise, manage and set up sufficient DofE groups to ensure access to a DofE programme for all participants who wish to take part.
Approve the appointment of Leaders, Instructors, Supervisors and Assessors and ensure they have access to appropriate training/qualifications for their role.
Manage and support Leaders – support them in their role, ensure they have undergone appropriate training and actively manage the recruitment of new Leaders when necessary.
Use eDofE to actively manage DofE groups and leaders.
Ensure that all DofE groups are adhering to the correct policies and procedures.
Run an active volunteer recruitment programme.
General
In conjunction with the relevant DofE Regional/Country Office develop, implement and review a DofE development plan, which includes supporting the DofE to meet its strategic aims.
Use eDofE to support the delivery and management of DofE
Use the eDofE reporting functions to measure performance and set development targets.
Attend at least one meeting/event organised by your DofE Regional/Country Office per year to keep up to date with DofE developments.
Ensure compliance with all aspects of the DofE Licence.
Be a champion for the DofE within CAG and actively promote the DofE within the local community.
In addition you must undertake the e-induction and Introduction to the DofE courses.
Ideally you should have / be:
An ability to communicate with adults and young people, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities:
You will be working as part of a team to provide safe, creative and appropriate challenging activities for young people aged 10 - 18 years.
Activities will include fun activities and games both indoor and outdoor and supervising off-site trips and much more.
You will have the opportunity to lead and inspire our different age groups: “Smalls” (age 10 - 13.5), “Bigs” (age 13.5 - 16) and Young Leaders (age 16 - 18).

You and the team will be responsible for keeping the premises clean and tidy and ensure the safekeeping of any equipment in conjunction with the Quartermaster.
You will liaise with parents where necessary for any feedback required.
Maintain and uphold good behaviour of the members.
Work in conjunction with the Safeguarding Lead and Group Leader.
Be able to work on a rota with other leaders and be available for Tuesday nights during term time.
Communicate frequently with the Group Leader & CAG Management Committee to keep them up to date.

Help4Homeless is a youth-led charity in Peterborough delivering £10 wellbeing packs to people sleeping rough in our city. As our Community Outreach Volunteer, you'll be the eyes and ears of Help4Homeless - heading out into Peterborough to locate rough sleepers, build trusted relationships with them, and report back so we can get packs to the right people at the right time.
No experience needed. Just compassion, reliability, and a genuine desire to help the people in our community who need it most.

CANW has been in existence for over 130 years since the founding of Blackburn Orphanage in 1886, we’ve been caring for children and young people from some of the most deprived areas of the region.
CANW exists as a modern charity providing quality services to children, young people and families across the Northwest.
The inequality that exists up and down the country means that many communities face complex challenges -simply getting by is tough.

About the Trustee roles
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with skills in one or more of the following areas:
Finance and Commercial: we welcome applications from candidates who are financially astute, can read a set of accounts, and bring business acumen and commercial exposure. You will bring senior strategic finance experience developed in the voluntary, public, or private sector to help ensure that CANW is financially sustainable over the long term so we can continue to deliver vital services to children, young people and families across the Northwest.
Fundraising: whilst the majority of CANW’s income comes from commissioned services, we are still working to make sure that our income streams are robust and well diversified. Part of this strategy involves building up our efforts with respect to trusts, foundations, and major donors.
Children’s Services: from the criminal justice system and residential services to support for neurodivergent children and young people and residential services, CANW operates a broad portfolio of services designed to give families the best chance at success in life. It is important that our board has deep expertise in these and other services.

Role Purpose
This is a senior volunteer leadership role designed to provide strategic and operational resilience across the department.
The Deputy Head works across both the Ethics Team and the Research Reporting Team, ensuring that ethical standards, research integrity and high‑quality reporting are upheld across all departmental activity.
Core Duties
Support the Head of Department in delivering strategic and operational leadership.
Provide continuity, stability and leadership resilience across the department.
Lead delegated strategic initiatives or operational areas as assigned by the Head of Department.
Share responsibility for departmental planning, performance monitoring and reporting.
Support Senior Managers and Managers, offering guidance, oversight and problem‑solving support.
Contribute to departmental policy development, risk management and quality assurance.

Competency Requirements (Deputy Head)

Operational oversight skills, including planning, resource management and performance monitoring.

Ability to support and develop others, including Senior Managers, Managers and wider volunteers.
Commitment to GDPR compliance, responsible data handling and good governance practices.
Adaptability, particularly during the interim leadership period and subsequent transition.
Role Requirements (Deputy Head)
Given the seniority and responsibility of this volunteer role, the following experience is required:
A PhD is required, along with postdoctoral research experience, or significant academic or practical research experience at an equivalent level, demonstrating advanced expertise in research design, ethics, governance or reporting.
Substantial experience in research ethics, research governance or research leadership, ideally across multiple projects or teams.
Experience in strategic planning, departmental oversight or senior‑level decision‑making, whether in a volunteer, academic or professional context.
A strong track record of ethical decision‑making, particularly in roles where judgement, integrity and risk assessment were central.
Experience with research reporting, research communication or academic publication processes is highly beneficial.
A strong interest in ethical governance, research integrity and maintaining high standards across research projects.
Familiarity with GDPR and responsible data management practices, or willingness to develop this knowledge quickly.
Experience working with volunteers or mixed‑experience teams is advantageous.

Join FARA, a charity with over 30 years of experience and 39 charity shops across London. Our FARA Chiswick Kids shop is seeking a enthusiastic and detail-oriented Toy Detective Volunteer to help create a fun, safe, and well organised toy section within the shop.
