Community Events Coordinator

The Volunteering & Events team at KCLSU are looking for a Community Events Coordinator. To ensure that our students thrive and enjoy the best possible experience at King's College London, the focus of this role is to connect students through a diverse range of events across the academic year. 

Partnering with over 300 KCLSU student groups, this role is one of two Community Events Coordinators who deliver: 

• The KCLSU Community events programme; overseeing the successful delivery of Welcome & Social Connection Events (Freshers), Liberation Events and Faith & Culture Events. 
• The KCLSU Reach events programme, which offers bespoke activities for students identified as harder-to-reach, such as postgraduates, online learners, or those who study at our Denmark Hill campus. 
• KCLSU flagship events, such as the Welcome Fair and KCLSU Awards.

We are looking for a Sports Development Coordinator (Equity & Inclusion) to provide training, knowledge and hands-on support for club committees as well as supporting on the delivery of campaigns and events. The Role

What will I be doing?

As Accreditation Coordinator you will part of the Membership and Inclusion team. The role is ideal for someone with strong administrative skills, with an eye for detail and a commitment to upholding quality and standards. We are looking for an organised, resilient individual who can work without close supervision.

Duties include:

• Organising degree accreditation visits, accreditation events, and committee meetings
• Responding to a wide range of enquiries from internation and external contacts
• Conducting initial reviews of degree accreditation applications

Projects you work on may include:

• Development and delivery of assessor training
• Supporting the development of a course endorsement scheme
• Assisting with the enhancement of doctoral training accreditation

Who will I work with?

Purpose of the job

Key responsibilities

Programme delivery

• Account and contract management of relationships with a portfolio of Delivery Partners and Grantees within your geographical location

• Ensure that Delivery Partners and Grantees understand their programme and grant requirements and are successfully delivering against those

• Support Project Managers in coordinating and administering a range of project activities through the project lifecycle including contracting, onboarding, monitoring progress, event management and delivery and data collection

• Conduct visits to youth organisations engaged in our digital and physical delivery

Facilitation and training

• Deliver engaging and effective facilitation, training and events across both digital and physical platforms.

• Translate curriculum, content and workforce development tools into impactful delivery for youth workers and young people across both digital and physical platforms.

Network Development

• Build knowledge of the provision of support for young people in your geographical location to enable you to act as an effective relationship builder, networker and connector

• Actively engage individuals, organisations and specific networks that can support development of our delivery (e.g., employment networks, regional infrastructure organisations, Violence Reduction Networks)

About the role

This is a key role within the Communications team at RUSI, focused on collaborating with colleagues within the team and across the Institute to ensure all research outputs are effectively promoted across various channels. You will be the main communications point of contact for our seven research groups, requiring you to develop a deep understanding of our research portfolio and devise and manage plans to significantly increase the impact of RUSI’s research.

Key tasks

Providing cover for maternity leave, the role will include, but not be limited to:

• Serve as the primary point of coordination for the Communications team, streamlining communications and lines of effort between research and communications teams.
• Lead the management of the Communications team's forward planner. You'll coordinate with other supporting functions including Publications and Events to proactively capture upcoming content, and ensure this information is shared effectively.
•        Lead the development and execution of communications plans for new research reports and activities, overseeing the entire project lifecycle.
•     Manage the plans for upcoming publications by collaborating with the Head of Research Governance and Editorial Publications. Proactively schedule meetings with researchers at key points in the publication timeline.
•        Oversee the logistical and administrative needs for research communication plans, including calendar management for key personnel, preparing post meeting materials, and overseeing project correspondence to ensure seamless communication.
•        Coordinate with the publications team to set strategic release dates for publications, aligning with the institute's overall calendar and major events.
•     Manage the publication of web content for various RUSI outputs, primarily podcasts by overseeing updates and maintenance to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and optimal performance.
•        Support the Marketing Manager in the promotion of events across multiple channels, including drafting and scheduling email campaigns, reminders, and follow-ups, as well as contributing to wider promotional activity.
•       Assist the Marketing Manager in coordinating with other teams to prepare newsletters and managing distribution to the appropriate mailing lists.

Essential skills and experience:

•  Able to work independently and as part of a team, quickly forming effective relationships with colleagues and   other teams. The role requires close coordination with our research, publications and events teams and within the communications function
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, track deadlines and coordinate activity across different teams.
•  Ability to take complex topics and be creative in packaging them for different audiences, making them accessible to both experts and non-experts.
•  Experience with CRM Systems: Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools for managing contact databases and segmenting email audiences.

Desirable skills and experience:

•  Direct experience working within a think tank, academic institution, or policy-focused NGO, ideally in a communications capacity, is a significant plus.
•   Email Marketing Experience: Practical knowledge of using Email Service Providers (ESPs, e.g.: Mailchimp), for drafting, scheduling, and deploying email newsletters.
•    Social media management and analytic tool experience: preferably Sprout.
• Basic Design Skills: Competence with design tools (e.g., Canva or Adobe Creative Suite) for creating basic visual assets like social media graphics, simple charts, or report covers.

About the opportunity 

Working closely with the Fundraising Manager and Head of Philanthropy, you will support a range of fundraising activities, most predominantly researching new avenues for funding within trusts, foundations and corporate partners, completing grant applications, carrying out communications and reporting to existing funders and raising the profile of the charity through representing Action Tutoring at funder or networking events. As a Campaigns and Student Engagement Coordinator you will be a crucial part of our student voice team. In this role, you'll work closely with our elected officers, staff, and external organisations to facilitate, support, and monitor student-led campaigns, ensuring that every student thrives at Brunel. You will be the driving force behind campaign development, providing guidance, resources, and support to officers and student groups. You will lead on empowering our students and volunteers to improve the student experience at Brunel, and ensure that the impact we are having in this area is effectively monitored and reported upon.
