For homeless people, or those at risk of homelessness, finding employment and housing opportunities can feel like an uphill battle, even more so if they’re affected by physical, mental health or substance misuse issues. Providence Row works with those affected by homelessness and those vulnerably housed in London, offering an integrated service of crisis support, advice and progression programmes. We ensure that people often excluded from mainstream services gain the support and opportunities they need to create a safe, healthy and sustainable life away from the streets.

Through our Reset Outreach & Referral Service (RORS), we support people in Tower Hamlets affected by drugs and alcohol. Our team takes a harm-reduction approach: meeting people where they are, reducing stigma, and helping them access treatment, health services, and wider community support.

This role is an opportunity to make a real difference—whether you bring experience from substance use services or transferable skills and a passion for supporting people.

The ideal candidate

To be considered for this role, you should be able to:

• Provide outreach and in-reach support to people affected by substance use across Tower Hamlets, including those who may have a history of rough sleeping, be vulnerably housed, or otherwise disconnected from mainstream services.

• Carry out person-centred assessments and work collaboratively with service users to develop support and recovery plans.

• Make timely and appropriate referrals to specialist services (e.g. treatment, health, housing, and social care) to ensure holistic support.

• Develop strong working relationships with partner agencies to coordinate joint support and reduce barriers to engagement.

• Promote harm reduction and recovery-focused approaches, ensuring that people are empowered in their choices.

• Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation of the Reset service.

Based across our hub offices in Brockley and New Cross, you’ll be the first friendly face our residents, visitors and partners meet each day. Working closely with the Duty Worker, you’ll help ensure everything behind the scenes runs seamlessly - from managing calls and appointments to overseeing rotas, supplies and maintenance requests. You’ll play a vital role in keeping the service connected, informed and responsive, helping residents feel secure and staff stay supported. These are innovative roles to develop social prescribing in the local NHS. Based in one of the six Primary Care Networks (PCN) you will work in different GP practices across that Network to deliver their specific priorities. You will join a team of ten Social Prescribing Link Workers working in Haringey PCNs and be part of a wider community-based Borough team which offers information, signposting and short-term support across the eight localities in Haringey.

Social prescribing empowers people to take control of their health and wellbeing through referral to non-medical Social Prescribing Link Workers, who give time, focus on ‘what matters to me’ and take a holistic approach, connecting people to community groups and statutory services for practical and emotional support.

Social prescribing can help to strengthen community resilience and personal resilience and reduces health inequalities by addressing the wider determinants of health, such as debt, poor housing and physical inactivity, by increasing people’s active involvement with their local communities. It particularly works for people with long-term conditions (including support for mental health), for people who are lonely or isolated, or have complex social needs which affect their wellbeing.
At the centre of the social prescribing process is the Social Prescribing Link Worker, working with GP Practices in a Primary Care Network, who connects patients who are referred to a range of activities and services in the local area depending on their needs, interests and capacity for engagement. This is a complex role as the SPLW will need to have good interpersonal skills to engage with the patient and have a comprehensive knowledge of the services and activities available in the local area.

About the role

Reporting in to the Head of Impact for the Multi-Country Cluster (MCC), the Partnership & Strategy Lead for the West & Central Africa region is s responsible for leading a team working across the cluster and across national boundaries, ensuring that the cluster has a wide and diverse programme portfolio of Civil Society partners contributing to Christian Aid’s global strategy and aligning with organisational values and goals to maximise impact.

The role spearheads the decolonised and localised approach across the cluster and ensures that programme delivery contributes to progress towards Christian Aid’s decolonial journey.

The post-holder will ensure that all work is carried out in line with Christian Aid partnership approach and standards, and ensures demonstrable best practice in programme delivery, including quality and consistency.

As a key member of the MCC Senior Leadership Team, the role collaborates closely with the other leads within the cluster and with global programme colleagues to ensure that advocacy is rooted in community experience for impact, and that learning is carried out in a way that is mutually beneficial to CA and our partners.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Partnership & Strategy Lead includes:

• Lead the cluster programme team to identify, foster and build potential new active and inactive partnerships (e.g. local partners, civil society networks, alliances and relevant government bodies) that can contribute to greater impact in the priority countries.
• Ensure efficient and effective management of Christian Aid’s programmes across the cluster by setting objectives that align to organisational values and goals and ensuring that grants and initiatives are co-designed, strategic and that they connect partners and communities across diverse geographies.
• Oversee both restricted and unrestricted budgets and effectively engage resources required for the MCC partnership portfolio to achieve success.
• Use the decolonised and localised approach as the framework to support cluster-based and dispersed staff to build a diverse portfolio of partners that can deliver locally led responses, be prepared for crises and challenge systems that drive poverty.
• Ensure work is happening across national boundaries, that the local is connected to the global, while horizon scanning and keeping a watching brief for radar countries linked to the cluster.
• Collaborate with MCC Leadership Team, particularly the Advocacy and Policy Lead to ensure advocacy and policy work at national and global levels are connected and rooted in community experience to drive meaningful change.
• Foster a leadership style which reinforces collective responsibility, mutual accountability, open communication, dynamism, interdependence, and organisational learning to support a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Liaise with head of operations to oversee delivery of donor commitments and ensure that contracts are managed by the Restricted Funding Manager to enable funds to be released.
• Lead innovative approaches to supporting Civil Society, particularly alongside the ACT Alliance, in Christian Aid’s thematic areas, building alliances, reaching new audiences (including donors) and working with new and different entities to ensure programmes, partners and communities have what they need to eradicate symptoms and challenge structures of poverty.

Oursupport 35 young people at risk of homelessness, operating 24/7 across these two sites. This is more than a night shift role - it’s an opportunity to make a real difference, working as part of a dedicated team committed to helping young people thrive.

We adopt a trauma informed and psychologically informed approach to supporting our residents to help them build essential life skills, identify their goals and work towards aspirations so that they can move on to enjoy fully independent futures. We have a dedicated team of Support Workers, Night Workers and additional Bank Workers who provide support, guidance, and signposting around areas such as housing, budgeting, living skills, jobs and relationship building. Situated in the centre of Hove, the service has strong links with and contributes to the local community.

Main areas of responsibilities are:

Safety and security

• Provide a friendly and professional front-of-house welcome to residents, visitors and staff, and ensure the building is safe, secure quiet and welcoming 
• Maximise the wellbeing of residents and visitors by ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols and house rules, all within the terms of tenancy agreements
• Assess and monitor the risks presented by residents to ensure they can keep themselves safe and, where possible, continue their development
• Record all incidents and accidents and share appropriately with the wider team, your manager and, if necessary, the central safeguarding team 

Engagement with residents

• Welcome residents home and provide informal and responsive support so they can articulate their aspirations and ambitions and acquire the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives
• Ensure resident’s views, aspirations, concerns, and ideas are sought so they can play an active role in influencing the services they receive
• Proactively promote the services on offer and ensure residents are encouraged to engage with those services
• Contribute to, or support, evening groupwork activities so that residents can access tailored solutions that meet their needs, wishes and aspirations

Administration and housekeeping

• Undertake tasks as directed, including but not limited to: inputting data, assessments, reviews, case notes onto our client database and entering new residents details/closing ex-resident records
• Completing health and safety/compliance checks, and recording estate inspectors and room checks
• Adding maintenance requests to our property services system

General

• Work as part of a team, on a rota four on four off shift pattern, alongside another Housing Night Worker, ensuring young people at the service have non-judgemental, objective at night, along with taking responsibility for personal safety during periods of lone working
• Contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations
• Participate in relevant continuing professional development and utilise Reflective Practice Supervision as part of leading psychologically informed practice

Becoming a Homicide Caseworker is a unique opportunity to support families and individuals bereaved by and, eyewitness to murder and manslaughter. The National Homicide Service is a fast paced, specialist team funded directly by the Ministry of Justice to provide exceptional trauma informed practical and emotional support every day.
