The Philanthropy Manager will join our recently established Philanthropy and Partnerships (P&P) team to help us develop and nurture a range of corporate and philanthropic relationships. Together, we will significantly increase our income in support of the world leading research, treatment, and care that takes place across our hospitals in areas such as: childhood cancer, rare diseases, neonatal and maternal health, children and young people’s mental health, and critical care.

We’re looking for an experienced Philanthropy Manager to play a pivotal role in securing significant philanthropic income from high-net-worth individuals and charitable trusts and foundations to support the vital work of our hospitals. Leading a team of three, this role is responsible for cultivating and managing existing high-value philanthropic relationships, expanding our high-value networks and further embedding a culture of philanthropy across our hospitals and charity.

The ideal candidate will have strong understanding and experience in working with high-net-worth individuals to secure 5-6 figure gifts. Communication skills (both verbally and in writing) ideally gained within a fundraising or sales/business development environment. They will be a self-starter with an appetite to make unsolicited approaches to individuals, along with the ability to develop and grow lasting relationships with high-net-worth individuals, charitable trust and foundations.  They will have strong time management skills, a motivation to work towards and achieve targets, and an appreciation of working for the NHS.

Campaign Planning & Data Selections Officer

Contract type: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract. Full Time, 35 hours per week

The WaterAid Data Selections team works with stakeholders across the entire Fundraising directorate. This is a great role to quickly learn how charities use data for their fundraising communications.

About the Role

As our data savvy Data Selections Officer, you will update and write SQL scripts to enable WaterAid UKs fundraising mass communications, and champion our supporter’s experience ensuring supporters receive communications that are relevant to them. 

In this role you will collaborate with stakeholders across Fundraising, interpreting their data requests into SQL scripts, and work closely with the Data Engineering team to update our data warehouse as the organisations data requirements evolve. 

You’ll also: 

• Review current SQL scripts and optimise them
• Work with teams on setting up, and updating our supporter journeys
• Advise stakeholders on using data effectively, creating variable outputs or segmentation for testing
• Work closely with the Analytics team, implementing their findings and collaborating on propensity models
• Champion data quality, and work with relevant teams to constantly improve the data in the data warehouse.

Requirements

The successful applicant will have a keen eye for detail and be able to interpret natural language data requests into complex SQL queries.

To be successful, you’ll need: 

• Experience of writing SQL syntax, including the creation of views, stored procedures and processes.
• Good knowledge of data protection legislation and its application.

Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:

• Experience working in a Fundraising or charity environment.
• Demonstrable understanding of a data warehouse.

The ideal candidate

• Relevant Health and Safety qualification

The Events Officer is a pivotal member of the Events HQ team, responsible for assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of a diverse portfolio of events as outlined in the Events HQ roadmap. About the opportunity

We're in a fantastic position to have recently have partnered with the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) for an evaluation of our programmes. 

We are now recruiting for a Programme Coordinator for our schools in Manchester.

• The Manchester Programme Coordinator oversees a caseload of up to seven partner schools. They manage the logistics and organisation of each school’s tutoring programme, working closely with the schools and pupils and managing the pool of volunteer tutors. They attend the weekly tutoring sessions at each school, as well as overseeing the quality of face to face and online tutoring, always working to deliver a great impact.
• The Manchester Programme Coordinator supports the recruitment of volunteer tutors, manages the tutor sign up process, develops relationships with schools including their Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers, collects data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, and works with other internal teams on business development opportunities.

• Update and accurately maintain Action Tutoring’s database, including collecting timely data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, such as attendance records, baseline and interim assessments and pupil surveys. Reporting regularly on key performance indicators to key stakeholders and using them to enhance programme delivery. Work with the Programme Manager on business development, approaching new schools that might be interested in working with Action Tutoring.

This role forms part of our Operations Team, currently comprising our Chief Operating Officer, our Head of Finance and Operations (HoFO), our Chief of Staff, our People and Culture Manager and our Operations Officer. A key part of your role will be acting as finance business partner to our other teams - impact, fundraising and communications - and demonstrating a customer service mindset in helping them achieve their objectives.

We’re looking for a finance professional, newly-qualified or working towards a chartered accountant qualification, wanting to develop their skills and career in a comprehensive finance role and contribute to our mission of helping young people thrive.

Roles and Responsibilities

Accounting (40%)

• Oversee day-to-day transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, for both the UK charity and the newly created US charity
• Ensure that accurate and comprehensive records of accounting evidence for all transactions are maintained
• Monitor cashflow
• Support the HoFO in the month-end process
• Oversee and control monthly payroll with external payroll provider
• Oversee and control VAT returns with external accountants
• Check monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Develop the purchase order system

Financial Planning & Analysis (35%)

• Support the HoFO in the preparation of the monthly management accounts
• Control all accounts payable in dialogue with budget holders
• Finance business partnering with budget holders and the Senior Leadership Team
• Control and account for the use of restricted funds, in alignment with donor requirements and with the Impact team
• Collaborate with the fundraising team to support forecasting and income tracking

Statutory accounts and audit (10%)

• Support the HoFO in the year-end processes
• Support the HoFO in the preparation of statutory accounts, supervising outsourced accountants
• Support audit requests
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards, including charity-specific requirements

Operations (15%)

• Responsible for the financial management of grant payments, in coordination with Grant Managers and Grant Budget Holders
• Drive good practice in procurement and manage the relationship with suppliers
• Support the wider Ops team in ad hoc projects and activities

Skills and experience

Essential

• Newly qualified or part qualified, working towards a chartered accountant qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Able to be hands-on in a small finance team
• Able to drive relationships with outsourced accountants
• Fluent in using spreadsheets for financial information
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly explain complex financial data and concepts to non-finance staff and stakeholders to support decision-making
• Strong critical thinker with keen attention to detail
• Experience of project management and knowledge of project management principles
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in finance or accounting roles, preferably within the non-profit sector

We are excited to be searching for a Men's Player Education and Welfare Officer to join us on a Casual basis. You will organise, facilitate and deliver an outstanding learning environment in all scheduled education sessions with England Development team players whilst they are on England international duty.

What You'll Do?

• Set up and organise all player education equipment for the duration of the camp or tournament.
• Print and organise all player education tasks ahead of each learning session.
• Ensure that all scheduled education sessions are delivered and supported whilst on camp, and to lead on this delivery.
• Provide flexible educational support, tailored to player's individual needs.
• Collate feedback and share with all education providers, club education staff, and parents / carers on player's progress, and where appropriate liaise with key stakeholders if required during the camp. Ensure that this feedback is completed within 2 days of the camp or tournament finishing.
• To be the designated Welfare Officer whilst on camp. Support the MDT to ensure that the player's welfare and safeguarding policy is upheld, with a focus on pastoral care throughout the camp duration.
• Work with the Team Manager and Head Coach to support supplementary organised activities i.e. life skills, cultural workshops, or educational visits.
• Attend at least one MDT planning meeting before each camp, and one MDT review meeting post-event to ensure appropriate handover and transfer of information from FA staff to event staff and vice versa.
• Support with off camp projects and stakeholder communication as required and directed.
• Respect the England team elite performance environment at all times.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties or additional tasks as directed by the Player Education Coordinator or other FA staff.
• Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained.

What You'll Need?

Essentially for the role:

• Safeguarding and Welfare Expertise: A thorough understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures, including The FA's Safeguarding Children Policy and Procedures.
• Relevant Qualifications: Teaching Qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) is essential. Additional desirable qualifications include Elite Athlete Wellbeing course, Player Care equivalency, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Certification.
• Experience in Welfare Roles: Prior experience in a welfare/pastoral position within a football or sports setting is essential.
• Understanding of Football Development Programmes: Knowledge of The Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) is desirable

We are looking for a self-motivated and results driven Head of Finance and Administration to join World Horse Welfare in a newly created role reporting to the Director of Finance, IT & Administration, line managing three members of the Finance and Administration team.

In this vital role, you will ensure strong financial controls across all areas of the charity, manage income and expenditure, and lead on statutory accounts preparation, payroll, VAT, pensions, and tax compliance. As a key business partner, you will work closely with budget holders of all levels, providing data and analysis on the performance of charity operations, including the four Visitor Centres, to ensure excellent financial foresight and planning, as well as enabling the senior leadership team to make timely strategic decisions. You’ll also oversee governance responsibilities such as annual statutory filings, insurance, fleet management and reporting on the annual carbon footprint.

We are looking for a qualified accountant who has experience of charity finance at a similar level, an in depth understanding of charity VAT and experience running in-house payroll processes. You will have the ability to explain financial information and produce financial reports for a wide variety of audiences. High level of IT skills particularly around data manipulation and Microsoft Excel is essential. As a line manager to three members of staff, you’ll have previous experience in managing a team in a supportive and effective manner. Experience of a retail environment, familiarity with fundraising methods and regulations, and experience of finance system implementation is highly desirable.

The role is based in Norfolk and is currently a hybrid split of 2 days in our head office in Snetterton and 3 days at home. You may be required to attend events around the UK so the ability to travel occasionally is necessary.

We are looking for a Finance & Operations Manager to provide effective financial management, accurate financial reporting and oversee the facilities management of the Trust’s offices. The Finance & Operations Manager will manage a team of 2 and be part of the Trust’s People Manager Team.

Summary of key duties:

Financial Management and Reporting

• Develop, implement and operate monitoring systems for financial forecasting and re-forecasting to support sound decision making.
• Lead on and co-ordinate the annual budgeting and planning process ensuring that information is collected, compiled and reported in a timely manner to the Leadership Team for review and recommendation to the Finance & Audit Committee.
• Produce quarterly and annual internal finance report and management accounts for reporting to the Leadership Team and Finance & Audit Committee, which summarise budget trends, analyse and report variance.

Policy and Procedures

• Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of effective procurement policies, procedures and systems ensuring best value is achieved across all activities.
• Lead on the annual insurance renewal process, ensuring appropriate cover is in place and general administration of the Trust’s insurance policies is enacted.

Payroll

• Maintain payroll processing system and run the monthly payroll.

Facilities Management

• Support the development of a 5 year planned preventative maintenance plan for the Trust’s premises, to support budget and resource planning.
• Oversee the management of the Trust’s premises ensuring contracts are in place and appropriately managed to ensure the smooth running and maintenance of the building and that all health and safety requirements are met.

Line management responsibilities

• Provide line management to the Finance Co-ordinator and Workplace & Facilities Manager, enacting the Trust’s management processes to ensure that all employees are motivated, supported and enabled to give of their best.
• Contribute to Trust-wide people management policies, procedures and team culture as a member of the People Manger Team.

Essential Knowledge and Experience 

• Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or experience to this level (E).
• Practical knowledge and understanding of management accounting principles and techniques.
• In-depth knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting and preparation of financial reports for senior management and compliance purposes.
• Line management experience to foster a productive and supportive team environment.
