Against Malaria Foundation (AMF) was founded in 2004 and is a charity that fights malaria in a highly effective, accountable and transparent way.
We do this by purchasing and distributing multiple millions of long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs) at a time in nationwide universal coverage campaigns. This is the most cost-effective way of preventing malaria. AMF receives donations from the public and in the last financial year received US$147 million and, in our history, now over US$820 million. AMF is particularly data-focused and monitors and reports on net use and drives and supports innovation to improve the effectiveness of malaria programmes.
AMF is the world’s third largest funder of nets.
AMF has been rated a top charity for all of the last 16 years by independent charity evaluators GiveWell, Giving What We Can and The Life You Can Save who focus on impact and cost-effectiveness.
We are a team of 15 highly motivated individuals with different skills and experience. Each person has an important role to play. All team members work remotely with constant communication between them. While the team is small, the impact is big - our net distributions protect millions of people. Our largest programme is in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where we are funding 52 million nets to protect 94 million people for distribution during 2025 to 2027. We have ongoing multi-million net programmes in other countries including Chad, Guinea, Nigeria, South Sudan, Togo, Uganda and Zambia.
Role Description
Our activities and commitments are steadily increasing, and 2026-2029 is expected to be a very busy period of distributions, with over ~70m nets planned for distribution in 2026 alone. In light of this, AMF is recruiting a Senior Operations Manager to join the operations team and play an important role in ensuring the success of the net distributions. We are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal and intellectual skills who is able to work collaboratively. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking on significant responsibility by leading on several of AMF’s programmes.
The role will include involvement in all stages of a distribution campaign (pre-agreement, net procurement, post-agreement, during distribution, and post distribution) across two main areas:

Work with National Malaria Control Programmes (NMCPs) and distribution partners

Work with AMF’s independent monitoring partners
Further information
The Senior Operations Manager will lead on several of AMF’s programmes. They will work closely with NMCPs and distribution partners, in country partners, AMF independent monitors, cofunding partners, the AMF Operations and Technology teams to ensure the success of AMF distributions.
More specifically, they will manage the distributions through the following stages
1. Pre agreement

Establishing the funding gap

Establishing the net need, malaria burden, insecticide resistance data

Working with the Ministry of Health to negotiate and put in place an agreement for the programme
2. Net procurement

Working with AMF’s procurement lead to order nets in time for the distribution

Through these stages, it will be important to maintain strong relationships with the key partners, notably the National Malaria Control Programmes, distribution partners and cofunding partners to ensure that distributions are carried out according to the agreements signed between the Ministry of Health and AMF.
These relationships will ensure that solutions can be found constructively to issues that arise during implementation of AMF’s programmes.
Aside from the areas above, there will be other work related to AMF Group Operations, dependent on the candidate’s skill set.

Reporting to: Operations Director

The cost of any co-working office space will be covered by AMF. For those living outside London, trips to London during the first three months are encouraged to spend time working with the Operations Director and AMF team.
Initial salary: £50,000 to £60,000

The Finance & Compliance Officer will typically report to Finance Manager.
Responsibilities include:
Financial Management & Accounting (UK charity context)
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with UK charity good practice and organisational financial policies.
• Manage the general ledger, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll journals, and bank transactions.
• Process payments in a timely manner to internal and external stakeholders (team members, suppliers, partners, consultants), ensuring appropriate approvals, documentation, and compliance with delegated authority.
• Record and monitor income and expenditure, ensuring accurate project coding and fund allocation.
• Prepare monthly journals including accruals, prepayments, deferred income and inter-fund adjustments.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and full balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all control accounts are supported.
• Raise and process invoices where required (including consultant invoicing), and coordinate internal approval workflows for payment processing.
• Maintain and regularly update the medical insurance tracker and supplier payment tracker.
• Monitor and follow up on partnership (sub-grantee) agreements and payments, as well as programme consultancy trackers, ensuring financial accuracy and completeness.
• Support cashflow monitoring and short-term/medium-term cash forecasting; flag risks and timing issues proactively.
• Integrate monthly payroll journals into the accounting system and reconcile payroll control accounts.
• Support VAT preparation work and provide documentation for advisors
• Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Project Finance
• Support the Finance Manager with the preparation of annual organisational budgets and project budgets, including proposal costings and budget revisions as needed.
• Support with the preparation of management reporting packs for budget holders (actual vs budget vs forecast), with variance analysis and explanatory commentary.
• Support cross-departmental budget coordination to ensure compliance with donor agreements and funding conditions.
• Maintain and support the Finance Manager with project budget monitoring tools and monthly reforecasting, including burn rate analysis and scenario modelling.
• Assist the Finance manager in producing periodic financial reports for budget holders, including actuals vs budget vs forecast and key explanatory notes.
Compliance, Controls and Reporting
• Support compliance with internal financial controls, donor requirements, and UK charity regulatory obligations (including reporting to the Charity Commission).
• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial analysis.
• Prepare year-end schedules and audit files in support of statutory accounts preparation under Charity SORP.
• Support the Finance Manager and external auditors during year-end and audit processes.
• Maintain a robust digital audit trail of financial documentation (contracts, invoices, approvals, grant agreements, timesheets and expenses).
• Identify internal control weaknesses and recommend proportionate process improvements across purchasing, expenses, consultancy contracting and sub-grant management.
• Support in preparation of donors’ reports ensuring compliance to donors’ rules.
• Assist with preparation of schedules for statutory accounts and audit, Support year-end close activities, Payroll, HR Finance & Treasury:
• Support end-to-end payroll processing, including payroll payments, PAYE, National Insurance and pension reconciliations.
• Maintain payroll records in compliance with HMRC requirements.
• Support banking administration including mandates, online banking platforms and payment authorisations.
• Assist with treasury tasks: cash monitoring, payment scheduling, and ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs. Capacity Building and Internal Support:
• Provide guidance to staff on financial procedures and processes.
• Contribute to strengthening financial awareness and accountability across teams.
• Assist with training staff on financial processes, tools, and systems. Cover & Additional Responsibilities:
• Provide operational cover for the Finance Manager within delegated authority during periods of absence.
• Undertake additional finance and compliance responsibilities as required.
• Proactively identify financial risks and recommend improvements to strengthen governance and financial resilience.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
• University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• 3+ years’ experience in a finance officer (or equivalent) role with strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and maintaining audit trails.
• Experience using accounting software (Xero highly desirable), plus strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, basic data validation).
• Excellent knowledge of UK accounting standards, VAT treatment, and compliance requirements within a UK charity context.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience preparing or supporting:
o monthly management accounts (journals, bank recs, balance sheet recs),
o cashflow monitoring and forecasting,
o project budgets and donor/project financial reporting.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritise tasks.
• High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.

You will manage key parts of the property product lifecycle - from defining value propositions and preparing properties for launch, through to marketing, viewings, and quality control. The fundamentals of the role
Marketing and sales enablement
- Develop property messaging, value propositions, and supporting materials.

Purpose of the job

About the role
The Head of Public Fundraising & Engagement will lead our public fundraising portfolio. This newly created role will oversee Individual Giving and Legacies, Community Fundraising, Mass Participation and Challenge Events, and Fundraising Operations, with five direct reports.
You will be accountable for public fundraising income and performance, whilst also helping to bring together teams, systems and ways of working following the merger. •Set the overall direction for public fundraising and lead its delivery.
•Be accountable for public fundraising income, including planning, budgets, forecasting and performance working alongside your Senior Managers and Managers to achieve this.
•Build on strong early signals of public support, including the face-to-face fundraising pilots.
•Learn from proven success from both legacy organisations, including The Felix Project’s fundraising in London, and explore how this can be scaled nationally.
•Drive sustainable growth across the portfolio, balancing short-term delivery with the need to maximise supporter lifetime value.
•Make clear, confident decisions about priorities, investment and risk.
Leading the public fundraising portfolio
•Lead and support Senior Managers and Managers across Individual Giving, Community and Mass, Legacies and Fundraising Operations.
•Bring different income streams together under a joined-up, supporter-centered approach.
•Encourage collaboration, testing and learning across teams.
•Step in where needed to resolve issues, reset direction or move things forward.
A focus on Fundraising Operations
•Provide strategic oversight of Fundraising Operations, ensuring excellent supporter care, compliant processes and efficient income processing across the portfolio.
•Integrate a ‘best in class’ approach to thanking and supporter stewardship across the portfolio.
•Ensure robust fundraising compliance in line with regulation and sector best practice.
•Champion operational excellence, embedding processes and systems that enable sustainable growth.
•Work closely with the Senior Fundraising Operations Manager to ensure visibility and value of the function across the directorate and wider organisation.
Innovation and new product development
•Work collaboratively with colleagues to shape and embed the organisation’s innovation framework within public fundraising, ensuring disciplined testing, learning and scaling.
•Contribute a public fundraising perspective to cross-organisational and directorate innovation priorities, ensuring opportunities are commercially viable and audience-led.
•Lead the development of new fundraising products, propositions and approaches, from ideas through to testing and scale.
•Explore new ways for people to engage and give – particularly in acquisition-led activity such as face-to-face, digital and mass fundraising.
•Use insight, data and supporter feedback to shape and refine new ideas.
•Balance creativity with a commercial mindset i.e. Stopping what doesn’t work and scaling what does.
Shaping Community and Mass Fundraising
• Make a hands-on strategic lead in shaping the future direction of Community and Mass Fundraising.
•Build on recent business planning that has protected delivery whilst leaving space for longer-term strategic choices.
• Identify growth opportunities and test new approaches to help define future operating models.
•Build momentum and organisational confidence in areas with significant untapped potential.
•Increase partnerships with small and medium-sized corporates within Community Fundraising, developing scalable propositions that can grow nationally, working in partnership with network partners.
Working with our network partners
•Play a leading role in shaping how we fundraise with, for and alongside our network partners in the public fundraising space, working closely with the Senior Network Fundraising Manager.
•Work collaboratively to explore ideas, test approaches and unlock opportunities that benefit both the network and the organisation.
•Ensure public fundraising activity reflects the stories and impact of our network partners in a respectful and sensitive way.
Developing high-potential partnerships
•Lead the strategic development of high-profile partnerships including our newly launched three-year partnership with Nectar.
•Work closely with internal teams and external partners to grow reach, impact and value over time.
•Develop and embed a robust a partnership strategy for within public fundraising, to ensure we are maximising opportunities with third party providers.
Shaping our legacy fundraising proposition
•Take a strategic lead in developing our legacy fundraising approach, working closely with the Senior IG & Legacy Manager.
•Shape a compelling legacy proposition linked to our impact, values and volunteer workforce – an area of untapped potential.
•Ensure legacy fundraising asks are integrated into wider supporter journeys and long term planning.
•Build organisational confidence, capability and momentum in this area over time.
Brand embedding and supporter acquisition
•Play a leading role in embedding the new organisational brand across all public fundraising activity once agreed.
•Work closely with colleagues in Marketing & Communications to ensure fundraising needs are reflected in the new brand as it develops over time.
•Support your team to translate brand strategy into practical, high-performing fundraising activity.
Merger transition and CRM
•Play a senior role in the organisation’s merger transition, with particular focus on the Fundraising Transition, working closely with the Fundraising Transition Lead, ensuring that public fundraising’s priorities are reflected in change planning.
•Act as the senior fundraising lead for the implementation of a combined CRM, ensuring public fundraising needs shape system design, data structure, reporting and supporter journeys.
•Work closely with colleagues in digital, data and IT, as well as external partners, to ensure systems support future growth and great supporter experiences.
•Balance business-as-usual income delivery with the demands of transformation and change.
•Help modernise processes and ways of working so the organisation can scale effectively.
Leadership and culture
•Lead and develop Senior Managers and Managers, creating a supportive, inclusive, high-performing and psychologically safe culture.
•Play an active role in shaping organisational culture following the merger.
•Support teams through change with clarity, empathy and pace.
