DFN Project SEARCH is looking for an experienced charity finance professional to take on the newly-created Head of Finance role. As a well-established and successful UK charity, we are operating in a period of continued growth and require a Head of Finance who combines reliable financial insight, robust control and strong governance with hands-on delivery. This role will work closely with the Finance Director and wider executive team while remaining directly involved in month-end, reporting, controls, cash flow and systems improvement. This role has a requirement to travel to London an average of twice monthly as well as other UK travel to support away days and programme visits.
Key responsibilities include:
- End-to-end ownership of the finance function, ensuring accurate, efficient and compliant day-to-day operations.
- Working closely with the Finance Director to deliver management reporting, annual budgeting, statutory accounts and audit support.
- Strengthening cash flow forecasting, treasury oversight, credit control and financial planning to support organisational growth.
- Principal owner of the charity’s financial controls, policies, procedures and systems, further developing the use of Xero for real-time insight.
- Supporting the charity’s funding model through strong oversight of restricted funds, grant reporting, contract support and funder compliance.
- Build financial understanding across the organisation by supporting budget holders and translating financial information for non-finance colleagues.
- Clear reporting relationship with the Finance Director and line management responsibility for the Finance Administrator.
Essential criteria
The successful candidate should be a fully qualified accountant who is comfortable leading and doing in a small charity environment. They should be technically strong, confident with hands-on financial operations, and able to work credibly with the Finance Director, executive colleagues, trustees, external advisors and non-finance budget holders.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a finance management role with end-to-end responsibility for a finance function.
- Strong working knowledge of Charity SORP and charity accounting requirements.
- Experience preparing management accounts, statutory accounts and board-level financial reports.
- Strong cash flow management, balance sheet reconciliation and month-end close capability.
- Experience of restricted funds management, grant reporting and supporting budgets for funding applications or tenders.
- Confident using accounting systems, ideally Xero, and advanced Excel.
- Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-specialist audiences and partner effectively with budget holders.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to line manage and develop a small finance team.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing Financial Instructions in a charity setting
Desirable criteria
- Experience of leading change and process optimisation
- Experience in a remote or distributed organisation
- Experience of working with complex stakeholder groups across education, public sector, social impact or donor settings
- Experience of payroll oversight, VAT returns and finance systems/process improvement would be highly valuable.

Headlines Craniofacial Support is a UK-based charity providing information, advice and support to individuals and families affected by craniosynostosis and other rare craniofacial conditions. The charity works closely with professional partners, including the 5 NHS Designated Specialist Craniofacial Units across the UK.
Craniosynostosis is a condition where two or more of the plates in the skull fuse prematurely, requiring medical support from a young age. Around 350 children are born with craniosynostosis each year in the UK.
Established by group of parents in 1993, Headlines now has over 2,500 members. Within our charity offer we send out regular newsletters and an annual magazine, Headline News. We also support families to connect through events such as an annual Family Weekend, conferences and Days Out, and provide information through our helpline and access to psychological support. We have private social media groups and specific groups within our membership who meet regularly including Cranio Dads, Young Persons Network and a Teens Group.
After 8 successful years, our current Director will be retiring in 2026 and we are now seeking an enthusiastic, inspirational and proactive individual to take up the reins.This is a rare opportunity to lead a well-established, respected national charity at an important moment of transition.

Key responsibilities
The Executive Director will hold day-to-day responsibilities, working closely with the Chair and Trustee Board to provide effective leadership and operational management of the charity. Specifically, they will:
- Act as an ambassador for the charity, liaising with members, health professionals and with wider community and provide day-to-day management of Headlines staff and activities, setting objectives in line with the operational plan.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, data protection and other legal, statutory and regulatory requirements and responsibilities.
- Work on behalf of and with the Trustees to deliver the charity’s mission, goals, operational plans and long-term strategy, and act as a positive leader and role model, managing and motivating Headlines staff,

Other information
Headlines hosts events and fundraising activities throughout the whole of the UK. You will have proven experience in fundraising, business development, or partnership management, with a track record of generating income and building strong external relationships. This role is dedicated to building lived experience participation at Independent Age. We want to deliver more opportunities for a greater variety of people with lived experience of financial hardship in later life to shape our work in meaningful ways.
The role will be responsible for developing a lived experience participation network ensuring that our existing and growing work in this area can be delivered smoothly, ethically and in line with best practice and making sure that the voices of those most at risk of financial hardship can be heard. The role will champion and encourage participatory practice across the organisation, developing the long term lived experience strategy and supporting the organisation to learn and grow in this area.
You should have strong experience of designing, running and supporting participatory activity, particularly with those with lived experience of a pressing social issue. You will be passionate about making change for those with experience of financial hardship in later life and bring an understanding of what barriers there might be to taking part and how to overcome them. Exceptional organisational skills are a must, along with great communication and the ability to build relationships with a broad range of people.

Our Support Line Officers may not be counsellors or medically trained, but they are dedicated to delivering a professional service and providing reassurance during difficult times. Whilst this role can at times, be challenging due to the nature of the calls, the fulfilment that comes from making a positive impact on someone's life makes this role incredibly rewarding.

Purpose of the role
We are seeking a project coordinator to contribute research, project management and stakeholder management skills to support key projects advancing the consumer voice in the sustainability transition. This is a critical role in our team, and it comes with significant development opportunities.

The Coordinator will also contribute to project delivery through research into energy policy and practice and report writing, as well as joining programme strategy discussions in a strongly collaborative and non-hierarchical environment. We also anticipate the Coordinator working closely with our Insights Lead to conduct desk research and stakeholder interviews to deliver insights components of Sustainability Programme workstreams.

Since the Charity was launched in 2009, we have invested £37.5 million in research into brain tumours, supporting game-changing science that with benefit patients in years to come. We are the leading voice of the brain tumour community, influencing governments and larger charities to invest more in this devastating disease.
Our last financial year was our most successful fundraising year to date, and we’re building on that momentum and looking ahead with ambition. We are now searching for passionate people to help us achieve the next steps on our journey to get closer to a cure.
We are recruiting for a Community Development Manager - North to join our team. This role will play a crucial part in the Income Generation and Development teamand support the wider charity to achieve our strategic aims.

Every day at Alzheimer’s Society, people affected by dementia come to us for support, information and hope. A carer looking for advice late at night. A family trying to understand a diagnosis. A supporter wanting to fund change. Digital plays a huge part in helping people find what they need, when they need it most.
We’re looking for a Digital Campaigns and Optimisation Manager to help shape those experiences.
This role is about making our digital channels feel clear, accessible and human. You’ll help create better online journeys across campaigns, content and platforms, making it easier for people to access support, connect with our work and take action.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across fundraising, marketing and digital, bringing together creativity, insight and empathy to improve how we engage with people online. Whether you’re designing a website journey, improving campaign performance or using data to spot opportunities, your work will help create digital experiences that genuinely make a difference.

What you’ll do
You’ll help bring our digital activity to life, making sure the experiences we create are useful, engaging and easy to access for everyone.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver and improve digital campaigns, content and user journeys across our platforms, including the Society’s main website and fundraising platforms.
- Use insight, feedback and testing to understand what people need and improve their online experience.
- Work with teams across the organisation to support campaigns and digital projects from idea through to delivery.
- Use tools like Google Analytics 4 to track performance, spot opportunities and guide decisions.
- Help make sure our digital content is accessible, inclusive and user focused.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and learning within the team.
No two days will look the same. One day you might be improving a donation journey to help raise vital funds. The next, you could be helping make support content easier for someone with dementia or their family to find and understand.
About you
You’re someone who cares about creating digital experiences that work well for real people. You enjoy solving problems, improving journeys and working with others to make things better.
- Improving digital content, websites or user journeys to help people find what they need and take action.
- Supporting or managing people as part of a positive and collaborative team.
- Using CMS platforms such as Drupal, WordPress, Umbraco or similar systems to manage website content.
- Working in agile or flexible ways, with the ability to adapt and keep improving things over time.
- Using data and tools like Google Analytics 4 to understand what’s working well and where digital experiences can be improved.
You’ll also bring strong communication and organisational skills, an understanding of accessible and inclusive digital content, and a genuine passion for creating great online experiences.
