You’ll join Marie Curie’s in-house Creative team, working closely with colleagues across Marketing, Fundraising, Digital, Events and Communications. The team is responsible for delivering high-quality, on-brand creative across all channels, from fundraising campaigns and supporter communications to digital experiences and print materials. You’ll lead a well-established, talented team of designers and collaborate with external agencies and suppliers to bring the charity’s work to life.

As Design Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping Marie Curie’s visual identity and creative output. By setting design standards, inspiring your team, and championing innovation, you’ll ensure our creative work is consistently high quality, inclusive, and impactful. Your leadership will help strengthen our brand, deepen engagement with supporters and audiences, and support the charity in achieving its organisational and fundraising goals.

Your Impact: 

• Lead and champion design excellence across the organisation, ensuring all creative outputs align with brand guidelines and strategic objectives.
• Develop and maintain a clear design vision that resonates with diverse audiences and supports Marie Curie’s mission.
• Inspire, manage and develop a team of designers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
• Oversee end-to-end design delivery, from concept to execution, ensuring quality, accessibility and deadlines are met.
• Work closely with the Studio Manager to plan resources and balance workloads across multiple projects.
• Own and develop key visual assets and lead the photography plan, working closely with the Stories team.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate briefs into compelling, effective design solutions.
• Ensure inclusive and accessible design principles are embedded in all outputs.
• Maintain governance standards, including brand compliance, copyright and legal requirements.
• Build strong relationships with external agencies and creative suppliers.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience leading a high-performing design team in a creative or brand-led environment.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence across digital and print design.
• Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with emerging design tools and trends.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience delivering a wide range of creative outputs, including digital, print, merchandise, photography and environments.
• Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
• Highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
• Experience in the charity, healthcare or purpose-led sector is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate will work within an innovative tenant-led partnership called Ageing Well in Place in Hulme (AWiPiH) which includes tenants and community groups; local and national charities; GPs; housing providers; and support from a local university. 

You will enable older and vulnerable people experiencing multiple disadvantage in high rise accommodation to 'age well in place' through one-to-one casework within a managed caseload and with supervisory support from a GP Fellow. You will work in collaboration with tenant committees; an Ageing Well Development Worker; the GP Fellow; and housing provider neighbourhood teams across two high-rise blocks. AWiPiH takes a preventative and proactive approach to wellbeing including health promotion, improved access to social care, housing adaptations, signposting on welfare rights, income maximisation and social participation. This role requires a person-centred and solution-focused approach to supporting people experiencing multiple and complex issues.

You will have a hybrid working arrangement including some working from home; some working based at a local GP practice; and on-site working across two neighbouring accommodation blocks in Hulme, central Manchester.

• You have a passion for enabling older/vulnerable people to live with dignity and independence in their own home.
• You are good at building trusting relationships with people while also maintaining boundaries and being mindful of your own levels of resilience.
• You are confident carrying out solution-oriented casework with people experiencing multiple-disadvantage amidst the current crisis in health and social care services.
• You are experienced in person-centred support planning and risk assessment.

•  Employer Engagement & Support: Promote carer-friendly policies and practices using resources such as the Carers UK ‘Employers for Carers’ toolkit. Provide advice and guidance to employers on flexible working, emergency leave, and statutory rights. Facilitate access to CSWS support services for carer-employees, including 1-to-1 advice clinics.

•  Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver carer-awareness training sessions for employers and HR teams. Develop and share best practice resources for workplace carer support.

•  Monitoring & Reporting: Track engagement metrics (e.g. number of SMEs reached, policies adopted). Prepare progress reports and contribute to impact evaluations.

•  Partnership Development: Build relationships with business networks, Chambers of Commerce, local employability programmes and local employers. Explore opportunities for fundraising and in-kind support from corporate partners

•  Work collaboratively with colleagues across Carers Support West Sussex to align the project offer with the wider support available in the localities.  

•  Promote the principles of Think Carer across all networks and proactively identify carers and opportunities through partnership working, outreach, community connections and networking. promoting carers as expert partners in care.

Reporting to the Head of Employee Relations, the People Officer will respond and resolve queries in the UK through great conversations, relating to people management issues in areas such as well-being conversations, absence /performance management, staff exit interviews, flexible working request and fixed term contract meetings. The People Officer will provide professional employee relations support working closely with the ER specialists to ensure line managers deal effectively with people management issues through conversations. There will be a need to engage and guideline managers across MSF UK to ensure people issues are managed and resolved effectively, embedding our values and employment policies and principles into line management practices. In addition, the People Officer will contribute to the continuous improvement of MSF UK’s policies and processes.

Experience and Background

You will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Legacy Fundraising or a similar fundraising role, with experience with experience in planning and delivering multi-channel marketing campaigns, particularly those aimed at growing legacy and in memory income streams. A solid understanding of legacy fundraising principles, supporter journeys, and the sensitivities involved in discussing gifts in wills and bereavement-related giving is also important. Candidates should be confident managing projects end-to-end, from creative development through to evaluation, and comfortable collaborating with external agencies to ensure high-quality outputs.

In addition, the role requires excellent relationship-management skills, as it involves working closely with donors, families, colleagues, and partners such as Legacy Links to ensure compassionate and consistent supporter care. Strong organisational abilities are key for overseeing legacy administration, maintaining accurate reporting, and ensuring compliance with governance standards. Familiarity with CRM systems, data analysis, and reporting tools will support effective monitoring of income and campaign performance. A background in charity communications or stewardship, coupled with empathy, tact, and attention to detail, will ensure the fundraiser can successfully manage initiatives such as the Heart of Oak Memory Tree and continue to grow the organisation’s in memory programme.

The Role

This is far more than a technical finance role. As a key member of the SMT, the Director of Finance will hold collective responsibility for the overall leadership, culture, performance, and strategic direction of the organisation, working collaboratively with fellow senior leaders to ensure our values shape decision-making at every level.

Alongside strategic financial leadership, the role includes senior oversight of Facilities and IT, recognising the vital role these services play in the provision of safe and effective services.  The role also operates as Company Secretary and takes responsibility for information governance.

About You

You will be a senior finance leader who combines professional expertise with strong interpersonal skills and a clear commitment to values-based leadership. You will bring:

• A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, or equivalent).
• Significant senior-level financial leadership experience, ideally within a charity, healthcare, public sector, or complex not-for-profit environment.
