Blues Foundation:

We are the charitable arm of Bedford Blues Rugby Club. We use the values of rugby and sport to change lives through interventions and programmes that support our local community. Our work aims to improve wellbeing, create inclusive opportunities, and develop skills in young people. Launched in April 2020, we deliver bespoke projects that are designed to support our target audiences and help young people tackle their personal challenges. Projects include our flagship Tackle LIFE programme, our ABILITY Blues disability sport programme, Be You programme, Rugby programmes and our Holiday Provision.

Role Overview:

Our Fundraising Manager will play a major part in significantly increasing our growth in fundraising activities, including corporate and individual giving, community events and support our strong relationships with local businesses, schools and clubs, increasing grassroots engagement. They will lead our restricted and unrestricted fundraising as we enter another exciting period of growth for our charity. The role will manage and implement a high-quality marketing plan to demonstrate our impact and promote our services. They will lead our events, maximising their potential fundraising potential and increase brand awareness. They will also build and support a network of volunteers and supporters/donors, communicating regularly with this audience. Acting as one of the main links with the club, the individual will be targeted with growing the supporting and coordinating the club’s community engagement through Foundation activities.

While this role is advertised as hybrid, it will mostly be office-based. That said, we’re open to discussing flexible arrangements for the right person.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop our fundraising Initiatives as part of the Foundation’s management and leadership team, successfully achieving fundraising targets to support our work.
• Maximise our fundraising potential, increasing both restricted and unrestricted funding, developing creative ideas to generate vital funds.
• Secure financial gifts from foundations, conducting prospective research, preparing funding proposals, and cultivating relationships with grant makers.
• Create new and nurture current partnerships with corporates, converting opportunities to our charity and drive sales through our events, packages and donations.
• Deliver high quality and well managed events that promote our brand and values, with a clear focus on generating income. This will include liaising with venues, suppliers, sponsors, donors etc.
• Lead and deliver a strategic marketing plan that promotes all elements of our work across a variety of platforms including social media and email.
• Support Bedford Blues and their league’s community team to activate both club-led and national engagement initiatives, ensuring the Foundation delivers on the club’s community strategy.
• Manage a diverse workload with a variety of deadlines and priorities.
• Follow the values and act on the behaviours of the Blues Foundation when working and representing the charity.
• Carry out other duties for Blues Foundation as and when required by management, not limited to the above.

The postholder will lead budgeting, forecasting and management information for our operations departments, manage an FP&A Assistant Manager, and partner with budget holders to drive effective financial management and support strategic decision making. Job Purpose:

The Senior Trusts and Foundations Officer is an integral part of the Philanthropy team, responsible for supporting with the implementation of the Trusts and Foundations Strategy.

We are looking for a Partnerships Engagement Officer to join us at this exciting stage in Settle’s development. What you'll be doing

This role presents an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about inspiring donors, fundraising groups, and volunteers. You’ll play a key role in developing this new income stream with internal partners, organisation wide. 

You’ll manage all areas of Community Fundraising, including supporter groups, in-aid of fundraising, and in-memory giving. You’ll identify levers to inspire donors, raise more money for critical conservation work, and create exceptional donor experiences. Who we're looking for

• Experience developing mass fundraising strategies and growing six-figure-plus community fundraising income streams, including mass in-aid of asks, in-memory giving, and supporter groups.

• Strong project management experience, including using data, sector trends, and audience insight to develop marketing campaigns, compelling fundraising propositions, stewardship journeys, and lifetime value plans, with a view to connecting with diverse communities.

• Experience building strong relationships with external agencies and internal stakeholders (including supporter groups, volunteers, properties, and in-memory supporters) while ensuring an audience-first approach and championing Community Fundraising.

• Knowledge of six-figure-plus Community Fundraising product life cycles and experience delivering mass-scale fundraising budgets, including monitoring CPA, ROI, KPIs, and retention rates.

• Experience developing and implementing lifetime value journeys integrated with wider charity communications, including knowledge of donor motivations and segmentation, storytelling, and effectively communicating the charity’s mission and impact.

Stella Maris is the official maritime charity of the Catholic Church.  We are looking for a Regional Port Chaplain for Immingham and the South Humber Ports to support seafarers, fishers and their families.

In this unique and rewarding role, you'll be the welcoming face of Stella Maris in your region, visiting ships, listening to crew members, and offering practical, pastoral and spiritual support to anyone in need, regardless of faith or background.

About the role

No two days are the same.  You might spend the morning visiting ships and listening to crew members' stories, help someone contact their family back home, support a seafarer in crisis, or offer a quiet moment of prayer on deck.

You'll also recruit and support a team of volunteers, work closely with other maritime charities and local partners, and build strong relationships with parishes, dioceses, and port authorities.  You'll be part of a nationwide network of Stella Maris chaplains, supported through regular meetings, retreats and professional development opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Visit ships regularly to meet seafarers and fishers, responding to their pastoral, practical and spiritual needs.
• Provide practical help such as transport, communication access, and emergency or crisis support.
• Offer spiritual care to Catholic seafarers and facilitate the religious needs of those from other faiths.
• Recruit, train and support Stella Maris volunteers.
• Work collaboratively with other maritime charities.
• Maintain strong relationships with local parishes, the Diocese of Nottingham, and port stakeholders such as the Harbour Master, shipping agents and welfare committees.

The HR Officer will provide expert support and advice to operational management in all areas of HR whilst consistently demonstrating HR best practice. The HR Officer will be the initial point of contact for all operational HR related matters. 

Occasional travel to team meetings across the region.

About the role 

Your main duties will include: 

• Providing first level advice and guidance on HR Policies and procedures, employment law and employee relations issues with the guidance of the HR Services Manager as required
• Advising and supporting Business Support Managers with disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and performance improvement cases.
• Ensure the provision of appropriate, timely and accurate management information to support strategy development, management decision making and improve the effectiveness of HR Services as and when required.
• Review sickness absence and undertake relevant interventions, including referrals to Occupational Health and advice to Managers on phased return.

About you

The successful applicant will have: 

• Qualified or working towards CIPD
• Experienced in developing metrics and reports with data analysis ability
• Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook
• Experienced in supporting managers with ER cases

Reporting to: Area Manager

Hours: 30 hours per week (4 days) which may include Saturdays

Locations: Biggleswade, Hatfield, Hemel Hempstead, Hertford, Hitchin, Letchworth Garden City, Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City

Other Requirements: The jobholder must be mobile and have a car.  All travelling expenses will be reimbursed.

Key Responsibilities:

• To assist and cover for the Area Manager during periods of annual leave or absence
• To provide cover in Willow retail shops, managing Assistant Manager(s) and Volunteers, including the recruitment and retention of a motivated team of volunteers.
• To ensure income and profit maximisation through maximising donations, preparation of items for sale, sales and disposals of un-saleable items to trade merchants
• Achieve sales and profit targets in order that we are able to increase the number of Special Days for seriously ill young adults
• To achieve the optimum price for all donated stock.
• To maximise sign-ups for Retail Gift Aid and ensuring full records are maintained for donations under this scheme.
• To control shop expenditure in line with budget, applying Willow policies for purchasing at all times.
• To manage customer and donor engagement ensuring the best possible relationship with Willow.
• To manage the physical appearance of the shop maintaining high standards of shop merchandising and visual layout, controlling stock density and rotation systems, ensuring that it is inviting to customers and safe for customers, staff and volunteers at all times.
• To contribute to the development of retail through innovation, ideas and creativity, feeding back all team ideas to the Area Manager and Head of Retail.
• To demonstrate understanding of Willow’s purpose and activities striving to improve brand awareness and communicate key messages in order to raise the charity’s profile.
• To complete all shop administration including cash handling and banking functions accurately and to deadline, ensuring company policies and procedures are adhered to.
• To plan and organise daily workload for team, encouraging effective communication, setting objectives and fostering a positive team spirit.
• To ensure that trading standard regulations are adhered to at all times.
