Key information
Salary: £27,000 – £30,000 p.a. pro rata, dependent on experience

About the role

Horizon Scanning: Monitor government departments (e.g., DSIT, DfE), funding and regulatory bodies (UKRI, Research England, OfS, Innovate UK), and other stakeholders for policy updates, funding calls, and consultation launches in relation to Research and Innovation policy.
Briefings: Produce concise policy briefings, data summaries, and position papers for GuildHE members and leadership on key Research and Innovation issues (e.g., REF, knowledge exchange, KEF, commercialisation, research culture, open research). Develop high-quality external reports, consultations, blogs and other materials articulating member challenges and opportunities.
Consultation Drafts: Assist senior policy colleagues in gathering evidence, analysing member feedback, collaborating with sector stakeholders, and drafting compelling arguments that articulate the unique perspectives of GuildHE institutions.
Share Best Practice: Identify case studies across the GHE membership to share best practice internally and externally and drive national conversations about new ways of working and operating in the sector.

Member Support & Consortium Coordination

About the role
This role sits within Shelter’s in-house Direct Dialogue team, which operates face-to-face and door-to-door fundraising teams across London, Manchester and Scotland. As Door-to-Door Regional Manager, you’ll help drive the ongoing growth and performance of the London region while ensuring high standards in fundraising practice, compliance and people management.
You’ll be responsible for recruiting, training and developing fundraising staff, managing regional performance against financial and non-financial targets, and ensuring strong reporting, planning and risk management.
You’ll also work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to secure quality sites, maintain effective operations and support long-term regional success.

We are seeking an organised and proactive Philanthropy and Development Administrator to support the College’s fundraising, donor engagement and development activities.
Working closely with the Head of Development and wider team, you will provide administrative and operational support across a range of activities, including donor stewardship, fundraising campaigns, CRM management, funding programmes and the College’s Global CARE initiative, which helps address healthcare inequalities worldwide through improved access to safe surgery and patient care.
This is a varied role supporting a wide range of development activities across the College. It provides an opportunity to develop experience in fundraising, donor engagement, stewardship, communications and administration within a busy and collaborative team.
The role is based in Edinburgh with flexibility for hybrid working. Occasional travel and out-of-hours working may be required to support events and College activities.
You will be a highly organised and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Educated to Higher/A-Level, HNC or equivalent level, you will have experience in an administrative or support role and be confident managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
You will be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and able to work collaboratively as part of a team. An interest in philanthropy, fundraising or the charitable sector would be advantageous, although prior experience is not essential.
