Our work focuses on three core areas: improving young people’s mental health, reducing vulnerabilities to youth crime and exploitation, and strengthening communities through trusted relationships and positive engagement.
A defining feature of our approach is our network of more than 100 Locally Trusted Organisations (LTOs) across Essex. These community-based organisations are at the heart of our delivery model, providing trusted relationships, local insight and direct support within the communities they serve. Through partnerships with our LTOs, we deliver programmes that use physical activity, mentoring and community support to build resilience, improve wellbeing and reduce inequalities. The Sport for Development Officer will play a key role in supporting the delivery and growth of these programmes. We are seeking a compassionate Young People Support Worker to help young people build the confidence and skills needed for independent living.

About the role
Join a close-knit and supportive team working tirelessly to ensure some of the borough’s most vulnerable young people receive the care and support they need.
As Young People Support Worker, you will support young people aged 18 to 25 living within a six-bed, low-support accommodation service. Working every Saturday and Sunday, you will help residents develop their confidence, resilience and independent living skills.
Your key responsibilities will include:
· Managing a caseload and acting as the named key worker for individual residents
· Completing risk and needs assessments and developing SMART, outcome-focused support plans
· Delivering one-to-one and group support within the accommodation and local community
· Supporting residents to access education, training, employment and volunteering opportunities
· Helping residents maximise their benefit entitlement, including Housing Benefit and Universal Credit claims
· Working with statutory services and other agencies to provide joined-up support

About the Role

You will manage a caseload of clients, providing practical and emotional support to help them maintain their accommodation, develop independent living skills and work towards their individual goals.
This is a varied, community-based role combining direct support with practical tenancy and housing responsibilities. You do not need to be an experienced Housing Officer, but you will need experience supporting vulnerable people and the confidence to manage your own caseload. Training and support will be provided to develop your housing management knowledge.
Key responsibilities include:
· Supporting people with complex needs to maintain their accommodation and build independence
· Providing regular visits, practical support, advice and life-skills guidance

PURPOSE OF POSITION
This role is responsible for delivering a high-quality, trauma-informed and gender-informed support service for women living in the Complex Needs service. The post-holder will hold a caseload of women residents who may be experiencing multiple disadvantage, including homelessness, rough sleeping, domestic abuse, mental ill health, substance use, exploitation, offending histories, social isolation and complex trauma.
The Women’s Support Worker will provide persistent, compassionate and practical support to women who may find it difficult to trust services, sustain engagement or accept support consistently. The role requires someone who can build safe, respectful relationships at the woman’s pace, while maintaining clear professional boundaries and supporting women to stabilise, feel safer, reduce risk and work towards their own goals.
The post-holder will work as part of the wider frontline support team, leading on support planning, advocacy and multi-disciplinary working for women residents. They will also support colleagues’ day to day to apply gender-informed practice, strengthen engagement with women and ensure support is coordinated, responsive and centred on women’s safety, choice and wellbeing.

The Community Support Worker will provide direct, practical and person-centered support to mentees approaching release from prison and after release into the community.
