Being a Finance Manager at St Wilfrid's

Full time 37.5 hours per week | 12 months fixed term contract - possibility to become permanent | Mainly office based with some home-working flexibility 

We’re looking for a skilled and values‑driven Finance Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day financial operations of St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

You will manage financial reporting, budgeting, controls, payroll oversight and compliance for both the charity and trading company. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you’ll ensure financial information is accurate, timely and meaningful.

You will also lead and develop a small, dedicated Finance team.

This is a time of transformation for us, with a new Finance Director joining and with plans to change our Finance system over the coming year.  As a result, we’re looking to appoint a fixed term Finance Manager for 12 months, with the possibility to extend or become permanent.

Key Responsibilities

- Produce timely monthly management accounts

- Lead year‑end processes and support statutory accounts preparation

- Coordinate and support organisation‑wide budgeting

- Provide financial guidance to managers and budget holders

- Oversee payroll and pensions compliance

- Manage cashflow, reconciliations and financial controls

- Lead on VAT, Gift Aid and internal audits

- Line‑manage and develop Finance team members

- Support system improvements and digital developments

Qualifications and Experience

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience
• Strong financial management experience, ideally in a charity setting
• Excellent technical understanding of accounting and financial controls
• Experience with financial systems (Sage 200c desirable)
• Confident communicator, able to explain finance clearly

Are you a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment? We are recruiting for a Facilities Helpdesk Manager based in Victoria, London. This is a hybrid, fixed term role until March 2027.

More about the role

In this dynamic position, you will be the driving force behind our Estates and Facilities helpdesk. You'll coordinate both reactive works and planned preventative maintenance, ensuring requests are triaged effectively, urgent issues are resolved swiftly, and service disruptions are clearly communicated to all stakeholders.

Day-to-day, you will line-manage and empower a team of two Facilities Administrators, fostering a positive, inclusive, and values-led culture through coaching and training. You'll also act as the crucial bridge between our clinical, retail, and rehoming site teams and our external contractors. This means identifying the right technical experts for the job, deploying them effectively, and closely monitoring their performance against agreed service levels.

System management is a key component of this role. You will manage our CAFM system to log and track jobs, analyze data to identify recurring trends, and produce reports that drive better decision-making. Working closely with the Health & Safety team, your vigilance will ensure our spaces remain secure, compliant, and well-maintained while delivering excellent value for money. You will have a deep understanding of CAFM systems and how they can be used and further developed to offer a better service to our internal customers.

This is a fixed term role until March 2027. It is a hybrid role with two days a week based out of Victoria pet hospital. There will also be occasional travel to other sites.

About you:

You are a highly organized, service-oriented professional who stays calm and communicates clearly, even when juggling competing priorities or navigating urgent situations. Taking ownership of an issue and seeing it through to resolution is second nature to you. You will have a working knowledge of CAFM or similar service management systems, and know how to get the most out of them to improve our ways of working.

You are entirely comfortable diving into systems and data to spot trends, manage contractor performance, and drive continuous improvement. Building strong, professional relationships across a wide variety of teams comes easily to you, backed by a keen, proactive eye for health, safety, and compliance. 

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience 

• Experience of managing or coordinating a facilities helpdesk or similar service function.
• Working knowledge of CAFM or comparable service management systems.
• Experience of managing external contractors and monitoring performance against SLAs.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Experience of using data and reporting to manage workload, performance, or budgets.

Job Summary - Senior Research Officer

We are seeking a confident and organised Senior Research Officer to join our small but ambitious Research Team. This is a hands-on role with real scope to contribute to how we fund and manage research, and to make a genuine difference to a programme that's helping to save lives.
 

The Senior Research Officer will lead the delivery of our grant funding processes from end to end - managing application rounds, overseeing the active portfolio, coordinating our scientific committees, supporting our research events and leading our approach to patient and public involvement in research. Working in a small, specialist team means you'll also have real scope to contribute ideas, help improve how we do things, and play a meaningful part in the development of the research programme beyond the day-to-day.

Project 41 accommodates individuals within the homeless pathway and as part of Oxfordshire’s Homelessness Alliance. The successful candidate will understand the trauma people using our services have experienced, and have a compassionate and assertive approach to building relationships. At Project 41 you will provide high quality support service provision, work with clients to ensure suitable and timely move on, ensure the health and safety and safeguarding of service users and colleagues, work in a psychologically informed way, and develop and maintain effective partnerships with relevant agencies.

• To work in partnership with support agencies to coordinate a holistic response to an individuals needs; this may include substance use services, probation, health professionals and adult social care.
• To lead on identifying and applying for suitable move on accommodation, and providing support throughout the move and whilst settling in to new accommodation.

As Partnership Engagement Officer, you will:

• Act as the first point of contact for corporate supporters and local businesses.
• Account manage a small number of partners
• Manage the general corporate and community fundraising inbox
• Plan and execute stock donation drives
• Oversee the recruitment, induction and training needs of Corporate Fundraising volunteers
• Frequently attend volunteering days to meet teams, host the "welcome talk," and ensure the corporate employees have a memorable, positive experience

About You

• Experience in a customer-facing, administrative, or fundraising/sales role
• Experience of working to targets and deadlines.
• ​Experience organising events, logistics, and scheduling groups.

About the role:

This role is based in Rumney Police Station, Cardiff with the opportunity for hybrid working. Travel within the local area will also be required. As a ASB Victim' Champion you will:

• Work within a multi-agency setting alongside Cardiff Council to provide tailored support to Victims of Anti-Social Behaviour in the Cardiff area.
• Recruit and manage a base of volunteers to help deliver the service.
• Liaise with the Council in respect of new referrals, ongoing casework and to seek advice and guidance as required

We are looking for someone who will be resilient, confident & able to engage others, happy to work as part of a team, and willing to constantly learn and adapt to new legislation.
