Role Purpose

Our Mentoring and Supported Volunteering program (MSV) empowers people to improve their quality of life & reduce their vulnerabilities by using volunteer mentors and volunteer opportunities within their communities to build resilience, confidence & aspirations, gain practical experience, boosting CV’s through obtaining UK based references and moving towards employment.

Our approach is person centered and participants are matched with a volunteer mentor whose experience, expertise or interests compliment the needs & aspirations prioritised by the person and provide peer support & mentoring delivered flexibly in the community.

Regular intensive engagement sessions with volunteer mentors provide a unique third space between services/institutions/employer & friend/peer in which people can work towards positive changes & goals in a supportive, strengths-based setting.

MSV focusses on a strengths-based approach, combining peer support & mentoring enabling people to engage in a self-determined & positive way with community and employment opportunities.

We also offer tailored, and supported volunteer placements with our third sector charity partners, for a period of 3-6 months tailored directly to the individual’s needs. This is based on their job aspirations, current skillsets, motivations, and interests to create the “best fit” and get the most out of the experience. The mentor manager successful in this post will not directly place or support participants in these volunteering placements but will work closely with the MSV volunteer manager as there is often cross-over of participants and ‘in-house’ referrals between mentoring and supported volunteering, as these services are often complementary to each other.

Who does MSV support? - Participants eligible for All in Dundee support include, but are not limited to:

· Those who are long-term unemployed / inactive

· Those with mild to moderate physical and mental health conditions, including disabilities,

· Those requiring specialist / bespoke support to access the workplace (e.g. neurodiverse customers)

· Those with severe and enduring mental health conditions

· Families with children experiencing poverty including Best Start Bright Future’s Priority Families

· Women returners

· Young people with Additional Support Needs who are most at risk of not participating in education, training, or employment

· Those with a history of offending or drug / substance misuse

· Customers experiencing precarious work or in-work poverty and are at risk of leaving employment

· Other customers where applicants can evidence a demand and a gap in support for those customers

Key Duties Responsibilities

· To recruit, process, train and support volunteer mentors across Dundee.

· Develop strong relationships with our diverse pool of mentors to ensure they feel supported, valued and listened to

· Provide information to key workers about our mentoring offer, including FAQ sheets and promotional materials that can be shared

· Explore new avenues for mentor recruitment and develop and maintain relationships with referral partners

· Create engaging content and share with our Communications Team so it can be promoted across our social media channels

· To engage directly with our local beneficiaries, who have numerous barriers and challenges in their lives, and work to understand their wants, needs and aspirations in order to make the best mentor match

· To manage the risk assessment, quality assurance and audit processes as appropriate

· Ensure monitoring, impact and evaluation information and data is collected and that the project meets its agreed targets, reporting format and schedule.

Although home-based, our model of delivery requires being “on the ground” in communities, and so a regular presence in, and travel within Dundee is required.

IPS – Employment support

For people who need mental health support, getting back into work is a vital step on their recovery journey. The evidence backs this up, but although 90% of people with severe mental illness want to work, only 8% of them are in paid employment.

If you would like to join our team and champion our mission and help people who need employment support to get back into work. You will be supporting clients who are under the care of Secondary Mental Health services to gain and retain paid employment and will be based within a clinical team.

This is an incredibly rewarding role.  You'll have the opportunity to transform the lives of clients, to give them hope, direction and support with their recovery journey alongside other key professionals. This is also a challenging role, so you’ll need to be empathetic, adaptable and dedicated to finding clients a role that’s right for them.

As an Employment Specialist, you’ll build a good rapport with your clients, gaining a real understanding of their key skills, their aspirations and their career goals and finding them opportunities to match. You'll also spend time building productive relationships with employers in order to identify and negotiate job opportunities in the hidden labour market.

Successful applicants for this post will receive training in the IPS approach, giving you the tools, you need to provide expert support and advice to clients, staff within your clinical team (e.g. Psychiatrist, Social Workers or Mental Health Nurse), while also building positive relationships with employers, opening doors and changing perceptions around mental health.

Job Summary

To provide support into employment for people with mental health problems including:

· Managing a caseload of clients who wish to return to paid work, enabling them to find or retain employment by liaising with work and training providers, accessing benefits advice and by personally providing on-going support to clients in job search and after gaining employment, in accordance with evidence based supported employment practice such as the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model of supported employment.

· Link with local employers and voluntary bodies in order to secure employment opportunities within the community

· Pro-actively support and motivate clients in obtaining employment opportunities

· Provide on-going support according to both the employee’s and employer’s needs to enable clients to both gain and retain employment.

Key responsibilities

 · To work in partnership with individuals to support them in finding paid employment, or taking steps towards this.

· To develop strong links with other agencies such as voluntary, statutory and businesses in the development of work opportunities for clients.

· To support Community Mental Health Team colleagues with information about work and training opportunities.

· To report on outcome measures for the service.

Main duties

 · Manage a caseload of people who have experienced mental health problems who wish to work.

· Prepare individuals for employment by assessing each person’s individual vocational needs which might typically include identifying strengths, help with benefits, support networks, travel to work plans, etc.

· Co create employment action plans with the individual, and provide this to the care co-ordinator and other professionals where appropriate.

· Assist individuals in job search and prepare them to apply for employment/education, liaising with colleagues as required e.g. Disability Employment Advisors, Jobcentre Plus, DWP contract providers and local colleges.

· Contact and meet with employers to identify job opportunities for individual clients.

· Have a proactive approach in developing jobs tailored to suit individual clients’ needs by contacting local employers, discussing mutual requirements and negotiating opportunities.

· Accompany job seekers to interviews if required.

· Provide education and support to employers, as agreed with the individual and provide job retention interventions to people at risk of losing their employment, negotiating adjustments to the job role with employers to enable the person to retain their employment.

· Support clients in the workplace by supporting them to learn the job role if necessary, and/or negotiating with employers to adapt the role at the start of employment or if difficulties arise in the workplace.

· Identify any barriers for return to work and develop appropriate strategies to overcome those barriers for clients who wish to gain or retain open employment maintaining a positive attitude to addressing challenges.

· Contribute to the opportunities for an individual’s increased social inclusion by developing partnership working with voluntary sector agencies, and linking with primary care employment and job retention initiatives.

· Promote the Mindful Employer initiative and best practice in mental health and employment within the mental health services and in other organisations in the local area.

· Maintain and develop close links with referrers, care co-ordinators and Community

· Regularly attend Team meetings.

· Complete data monitoring sheets and keep accurate caseload records.

YMCA is our specialist project supporting children and young people across Sussex and Surrey who are affected by, or at risk of, exploitation. Through education, awareness-raising and empowerment, we help young people understand healthy relationships, recognise harmful behaviours, and build safety and resilience.

We now have an exciting opportunity to join our WiSE team as a Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Practitioner. In this vital role, you will work alongside the Service manager, an Early Intervention worker, and two experienced Practitioners. You will be co-located with the Exploitation team at Guildford Police Station, working collaboratively with partner agencies to support young people and contribute to multi-agency safeguarding responses.

The role involves a significant amount of lone working and frequent travel across Surrey to meet clients and attend meetings, with occasional travel further afield. Therefore, a full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential.

What you will be doing

In this role, you will hold a caseload of young people aged 10–25 who are vulnerable to sexual or criminal exploitation, providing intensive, person-centred support. You will work closely with professionals across multiple agencies to promote safety, disrupt exploitation, and empower young people to move towards safer, more stable futures. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of vulnerable young people, helping them stay safe and move away from the influence of perpetrators.
• Work collaboratively with partner professionals to design and deliver tailored support packages, offering specialist consultation where needed.
• Maintain accurate case records and contribute to clear, timely, and professional reports.
• Liaise effectively with Children’s Services, Surrey Police, and other agencies to disrupt abuse and support safeguarding and prosecution processes.
• Deliver training and awareness workshops to professionals, foster carers, and partner agencies to strengthen community understanding and responses to exploitation.
• Contribute to strategic development, deputising at relevant meetings and helping shape best practice across the service.

This is a challenging role; many of the young people you support may not recognise the risks they are facing or the abusive dynamics within their relationships. Supporting victims can at times be emotionally demanding and distressing. To ensure you feel supported and able to deliver high-quality practice, you will receive:

• Regular line management supervision focused on both casework and wellbeing

Qualifications, experience and knowledge

About the role

We’re looking for an Operations Team Leader with supervisory and process improvement experience to join our Income Operations Team. 

This role sits at the core of our income and fundraising operations, ensuring the systems and processes that underpin our supporters’ journeys are efficient, accurate and high‑quality. You’ll be responsible for keeping central income workflows running smoothly—from processing and reconciling income, to managing supporter data, Gift Aid compliance, fulfilment, and other essential activities that enable our fundraising teams to succeed and our supporters to have a great experience.

About the Role

As a Caseworker, you will provide structured, tailored support plans based on holistic assessments for individuals affected by crime. You will make initial contact with victims via the telephone, then tailor the support to them explaining our services, and assessing the impact of crime. Your responsibilities will include developing, delivering, and monitoring safety and support plans, providing resources, interventions, and information to service users.

As a Caseworker you will:

• Manage a caseload of self-referred and referred service users, providing information and advocacy to help them navigate the criminal justice process.
• Conduct risk and needs assessments, ensuring each victim receives tailored support and information.
• Identify barriers to accessing services and work with partners to provide ongoing support.
• Keep accurate and confidential case records on a bespoke case management system

• Develop, deliver and monitor safety and support plans for those affected by crime who accept ongoing support
• Liaise and actively engage with other local providers to share information on the service offer
• Work as part of a team with staff and the volunteer team to provide a seamless service to clients

About You

You will have an understanding of the impact of crime on victims and experience in delivering services within a statutory, voluntary, or multi-agency setting.  Experience in managing a caseload and of completing risk and needs assessments would be beneficial. 

You will need:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong IT skills, including the ability to navigate and utilise bespoke case management systems effectively and an ability to use Microsoft Office applications to a high standard
• Good organisational and time management skills, able to manage competing needs and priorities.

When young people in care turn 18, all the support they’ve relied on can fall away, literally overnight.  Suddenly, they have to navigate adulthood on their own. This would be tough for any teenager, even if they could fall back on their family for help. So it’s not surprising that two out of three care-experienced young people feel unprepared to leave care. Too many still don’t get the support they need to make it safely past this cliff edge.

Care leavers aged 18-21 are nine times more likely to experience homelessness than their peers.

Settle exists to change this. We’re an award-winning charity, supporting care-experienced young people as they move into their first home, so they can confidently transition into independent living, avoid eviction and homelessness, and establish the foundations they need to thrive in adulthood. The Debt Advice Caseworker will provide an in-person high-quality debt advice and casework service to the organisation’s clients.

The Debt Advice Caseworker will provide mentoring and support to their co-workers, which will help develop their skills and expertise in debt and money management service, ensuring they deliver our clients with the best possible service.

A demanding role, whereby the Debt Advice Caseworker will have the ability to understand and deal with complex information.

They will work collaboratively with their team, management and external organisations.

Flexibility is a key characteristic of all our posts, and the post-holder may be asked to carry out other tasks consistent with the grade from time to time.

Requirements

To be appointed as a Debt Advice Caseworker, you will need to have:

1. Knowledge and experience of complex debt casework, covering priority and non-priority debt advice, options and insolvency solutions.

OR

To be appointed as a Trainee Money Advice Caseworker, you will need to have knowledge of advice areas and money advice issues and have experience of giving advice. We’re not looking for the finished article, if you have the right attitude then we can help to develop your skills.

2. Experience of achieving performance and quality targets/KPIs.

3. Ability and willingness to undertake training and development to comply with Money and Pensions Service and Citizens Advice quality standards.

4. Effective oral/written communication skills and be numerate to the level required by the tasks.

5. Ability to prioritise own work, meet deadlines, manage workload and targets in a pressured environment.

6. An ordered approach to casework and an ability and willingness to follow and develop agreed procedures.

7. IT literacy with an ability to use software packages including Microsoft Office products in the provision of advice and preparation of formal written materials.

8. Ability to give and receive feedback objectively and sensitively and a willingness to challenge constructively.

9. Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.

10. Understanding of and commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice service and its equalities and diversity policy

11. Ability to work across different sites within Liverpool.

12. Institute of Money Advisers Certificate in Money Advice Practice or MaPS Caseworker accreditation equivalent.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide a casework service covering the full range of debt and money management advice, including debt relief orders, bankruptcy, and debt management plans.
2. Deliver our service by a range of methods required, including telephone/digital channels, drop-in sessions, appointments, outreach work, and home visits.
3. Act for clients where necessary; this includes drafting letters, budgets, financial statements, and negotiating with third parties.
4. Ensure income maximisation through the take up of appropriate welfare benefits.
5. Prepare and present cases to statutory bodies, tribunals, and courts when required.
6. Assist clients with issues, where they may be an integral part of a case, and refer them to the appropriate agencies and advisers.
7. Maintain standards of service delivery and ensure that casework conforms to the Citizens Advice membership requirements, the Advice Quality Standard, and the Money and Pensions Service Advice Quality Framework.
8. Comply with systems for monitoring and reporting purposes.
9. Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that the service area meets key performance indicators and targets.
10. Assist in the smooth running of the organisation and provide emergency cover for other parts of the service when necessary.
11. Analyse and interpret complex information, communicating this effectively in writing with particular emphasis on negotiation and representation.

Sydenham Garden is seeking to appoint a Community Engagement and Fundraising Lead for two days per week on a fixed term contract for two years. They will join our team of 14 staff and 70 volunteers supporting people living with mental ill-health and dementia in south-east London. 

Positions:  Community Engagement and Fundraising Lead 

Contract:  Fixed term for 1 year,

Hours: 0.4 FTE 15 hours per week 

Salary: £38,000 pro rata 

Annual leave: 33 days including bank holidays pro rata

Location: Sydenham Garden Resource Centre, SE23 2LW or working from home – minimum 1 day a month in office

Our Organisation 

Sydenham Garden, based in Lewisham in South-East London, is a special, unique and beloved wellbeing centre utilising its gardens, nature reserve and activity rooms to help people living with and recovering from mental and physical ill-health. We were established in 2002 and will celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2027. We provide nature and arts based creative, social and therapeutic activities for co-workers (the name we give our primary beneficiaries). People are referred to us from community organisations and health professionals and we use an integrative approach where those with different degrees of mental and physical ill health come together with volunteers from the local community to reduce social exclusion and prejudice. Each year we work with on average over 250 co-workers and over 70 volunteers. 

About you 

You’ll have experience in building relationships with individual donors, increasing income from community sources and engaging and enthusing volunteers and supporters around a cause. You’ll have excellent communication and people skills and feel comfortable both thinking strategically and managing competing priorities day-to-day. Most importantly, you’ll thrive in a small team working to make a big impact for people living with mental ill-health and dementia.
