Samaritans is looking for an Assistant Director of Culture and Engagement to lead how we connect with, listen to and create inclusivity for our people (staff and volunteers) at a pivotal moment for the organisation.

Leading two high-performing teams as a single department (internal communications and engagement, and culture and inclusion) alongside their Heads of Team, you’ll play a pivotal role in embedding cultural change, advising on change management, strengthening two-way communication, and ensuring our people feel connected to our mission every day.

Contract terms

​

• 13-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover)
• £75,000 per annum, plus benefits
• Full-time is 35 hours per week, but we are passionate about flexible working, please talk to us about what works best for you
• Hybrid working: linked to our Ewell (Surrey) office, with a blend of home working and access to offices in Ewell and London Bridge
• In-person working: collaboration matters to us. We typically work in person around once a week.

We have a vacancy for a Mental Health A&E Link Worker to join our team.

About the Project

Our A and E Link Workers help adults access alternative mental health crisis support, including our Nightlight Crisis Service. We focus on providing a calmer, quieter environment away from the hospital when it’s needed.

Service Objectives

The objectives of Hertfordshire Mind Network’s (HMN) A&E Liaison Service are to:

• Improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in Hertfordshire.
• Increase timely access to help for people experiencing mental health crisis in Hertfordshire, by providing a clear and effective pathway to services provided by HMN and other third sector and statutory providers.
• Contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
• Remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• Provide an alternative pathway to people in distress and crisis to support better outcomes and reduce the demand on statutory crisis services, emergency services and A&E departments.

About the Role:

The Mental Health A&E Link worker will work closely with individuals in a mental health crisis currently in A&E, by using a person-centred approach to ensure that everyone is supported with dignity and respect.

They will encourage and facilitate positive steps towards management of crisis and recovery; through providing emotional support, signposting and completing onward referrals into mental health support. They will work closely with A&E clinical staff, integrated discharge teams, Bounce Back, and mental health liaison teams, to proactively identify referrals into the crisis alternatives service to facilitate timely discharges from A&E.

We offer:

• Annual leave entitlement of 25 days per year pro rata, rising in increments to a max. of 29 days after 5 years employment (plus 8 days Bank Holidays)

The Campaigns Lead is responsible for creating and coordinating health campaigns across BHA.The role will support all our projects, and our core team, with their campaign work, collecting meaningful data about the work of BHA, raising the profile of these issues and ensuring that the voices of our service users are heard far and wide.

The successful applicant should bring a proven track record in developing and delivering health awareness campaigns or public health communications. Supporting the CEO

• Assist and support the CEO in the fulfilment of his/her responsibilities, including (but not limited to):

Supporting the Board and ParalympicsGB’s governance

• In collaboration with the Chair and the Head of Governance and Compliance:
• Agree timings, locations and logistics for Board meetings, including booking rooms and providing refreshments.
• Ensure agenda and Board papers are uploaded to the Teams channel for Board members to access and assist with issues Board members may have accessing Teams.
• Prepare email responses, letters, briefing papers and other documents as required by the Chair in connection with BPA business.
• Support Board members in arranging meetings in connection with ParalympicsGB business
• Plan for Board members attendance for the Games, being the key point of contact sharing information with both the Board and internal planning teams.
• Support the Head of Governance and Compliance in preparing and managing member meetings, including NPC meetings, Election meetings and Annual General Meetings. Leading on:
• Ensure timings, venues and agendas are communicated to members and papers are made available to members.
• Book rooms for member meetings and arranging refreshments.
• Send out invitations and papers, collate the guest list, confirm numbers, accessibility & dietary requirements
• Ensuring changes in member contact details are kept current on the BPA’s contact management database.
• Support the Head of Governance and Compliance in processes around electing and appointing Board members, including appointment letters and induction information.

Events

Working closely with the Events and Projects Manager and internal event leads, help to coordinate the planning and delivery of the entire portfolio of ParalympicsGB external events. Ensure all events are planned and delivered to a consistent high quality.

• Ensure planning deadlines are met in a timely manner and that internal and external stakeholders have been consulted with as required.
• Provide expertise to event leads to ensure ParalympicsGB events address accessibility in the planning and delivery, and that all events have a consistent look and feel.
• Ensure all Health & Safety risk assessments are done and risks are being managed.
• Coordinate all room/venue bookings and catering arrangements
• Support with venue research and recces and attend venue planning meetings
• Send invites, manage responses and FAQs.
• Coordinate any additional logistics required e.g. gifting, branding, movement of equipment
• If required, provide event support on the day and/or arrange colleague support on the day.
• Work with colleagues to ensure lessons learnt from previous events are embedded into future planning.

Other

• Project Lead for Games Time Ticketing ensuring the successful delivery of this complex Games workstream.
• Support on the planning of major projects, such as Team Lodge and leading on the planning of project workstreams as required
• Provide support with planning and coordination of the ParalympicsGB Guest programme.

Money & Me Navigator
Salary: £27,596.00 per annum, pro rata
Contract: 12-month contract
Hours: 1 x Part Time (17.5 hours per week - Ability to adapt to changing work schedules, including working later or adjusting days when necessary is desirable).
Location: Based at Mind in Salford, The Angel Centre, Salford

In this role as a Money & Me Navigator, you will proactively identify people with mental health issues whose lives are being impacted due to financial concerns, at places like GP surgeries and community-based organisations.

Money & Me Navigators are well positioned to support those who are less likely to come forward for support or reluctant to access mental health care due to stigma or discrimination.

You will provide one to one and/or group support, using trauma informed approaches, to empower people with mental health issues whose lives are being impacted due to financial concerns. By doing this, you will support people to become more resilient and better able to deal with problems they may have in the future.

Actively seek out potential referrals and promote the service within primary care settings and the community. You will build relationships with other agencies that support people with financial concerns, for example welfare rights services, housing organisations, faith-based organisations.

In this role you will also support our Welfare Rights & Debt Advice Team with administration and support the clients to access higher levels of advice including completion of forms.

About Money and Me

We know that poor mental health can make earning and managing money harder, and that worrying about money can make our mental health worse.

Money & Me aims to equip people with the understanding, self-compassion and practical tools to navigate and get around those barriers to financial wellbeing. Co-designed by people who have lived experience of money and mental health problems, alongside mental health and financial professionals, we work with individuals and in group settings.

Money & Me is a psychoeducation course that supports people experiencing mental health problems to improve their financial wellbeing. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of clients, providing goal-oriented support for up to 8 weeks.
• Facilitate group sessions for individuals with mental health and financial struggles.
• Promote the service within primary care and community settings, building relationships with agencies like welfare rights and housing organisations.
• Support clients to access higher levels of advice and complete relevant forms.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure client safety.
• Record case notes accurately and use data to evaluate service effectiveness.
• Collaborate with partner agencies (mental health services, etc.) to ensure client support.
• Represent the service at meetings and network with other professionals.
• Provide administrative support to the Welfare Rights & Debt Advice Team.
