Finance Manager
Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFDA) was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.
Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown. AAFDA’s prime function is to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.
As a growing charity, AAFDA is looking for an exceptional candidate to join our supportive team and lead our finance and resource management functions. The role will provide and manage the HR, administration and finance activities of the charity and sit within the Senior Leadership Team.

ROLE OVERVIEW
AAFDA (Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse) is a growing Charity and to meet the demands of this growth, we are looking for a full time Finance and Resources Manager to join our team.
MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE
To work with the Board, CEO and Deputy CEO to ensure efficient and effective financial management, including setting and monitoring budgets, producing financial reports, and overseeing day to day financial management, including payroll and bookkeeping via Quickbooks, and providing advice and guidance, to inform the development and delivery of AAFDA’s strategy and business plan.
To work with the CEO and Deputy CEO to ensure that AAFDA meets its funder obligations, including reporting on time, gathering data from across the team and compiling reports for CEO/Deputy CEO sign off.
To work with Trustees and staff to ensure AAFDA fulfils its legal and regulatory requirements, including; coordinating the implementation of health and safety, GDPR and other policies and procedures; leading on human resources support; and overseeing office management and IT. Note that specialist HR advice and support and IT are provided to AAFDA by external contractors.
The role provides and manages the HR, administration and finance activities of the Charity and sits within the Senior Leadership Team.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
· Ensuring the day-to-day financial and accounting operations (Quickbooks) are delivered and maintained.
· Administering and managing Payroll, expenses, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, managing the bank including reconciliations and other financial management.
· Managing AAFDA’s budget planning, monitoring and review and year-end accounts processes.
· Meeting AAFDA’s funder reporting deadlines, including oversight of the compilation of information for the funder and the provision of financial reports.
· Supporting the development of AAFDA’s strategy and business plan including providing financial projections and conducting risk analysis as and when required.
· Ensuring effective day-to-day management of book-keeping and financial administration.
· Ensuring financial, payroll and data protection policies and procedures comply with relevant legislation/regulations, reflect best practice and are applied throughout AAFDA, reporting non-compliance to the CEO and/or Deputy CEO.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Finance:
· In conjunction with the Leadership team, undertake regular finance operational duties including;
- Preparation and setting of a three-year outline budget to accompany AAFDA’s three-year strategy.
- Preparation and setting of the annual budget.
- quarterly reviews – including cashflow and operational re-forecasts.
- Monthly management accounts and variance analysis.
· Prepare quarterly finance reports for the Board, including variance analysis, re-forecasts and ad-hoc reports, as necessary.
· Assist the third-party accountant with the preparation of year-end accounts.
· Manage and operate the internal finance and accounting systems and databases.
· Oversee delivery of payroll, through the use of third-party providers software and using the staff time management recording system.
· Manage all staff expense systems and ensure compliance with relevant AAFDA policies.
· Manage and operate a purchasing system and ensure appropriate levels of pre-expenditure financial authorisation are in place and followed and that suppliers are paid on a timely basis.
· Ensure that all receivables are billed and collected on a timely basis.
· Be the main contact with and management of, the day-to-day operations of the Charity’s banking arrangements, seeking secondary authorisations where required.
· Ensure compliance with HMRC, including monitoring VAT threshold, tax and gift aid, and undertake necessary returns where necessary.
· Commission specialist VAT and other financial advice as required and in conjunction with the Board and CEO/DCEO.
· Support and advise the Trustees, CEO, Deputy CEO and other Leadership Team colleagues with financial forecasting/planning, and allocation and funding of staff and other resources.
· Support Fundraising staff with preparing and managing grant applications and project budgets with the aim of ensuring a minimum of full-cost recovery and provide financial implementation data to enable the Charity to comply with any grant reporting obligations, including by creating and maintaining records of costs by grant received.
Effective Organisational Administration
· Oversee policy and procedure development and implementation, including safeguarding, data protection, Health and Safety, complaints, etc, in conjunction with other Leadership Team members.
· Conduct horizon scanning and recommend opportunities to revise policies and procedures to ensure legal/regulatory compliance and/or in line with best practice.
· Review, improve and ensure implementation of project management processes.
· Ensure appropriate equipment and infrastructure resources are in place for staff, volunteers and Trustees.
· Ensure insurance is in place for all activity and potential organisational risks.
· Continually improve and manage operational costs and budget.
· Collaborate with colleagues to ensure optimal use of the AAFDA customer relationship, case management, time recording, expense management and other operational systems.
Other
· To work with the Trustees, CEO/DCEO and staff to develop and implement the strategy and business plan.
· Provide support for effective governance.
· Take part in Leadership Team meetings.
· To work with the rest of the staff team to carry out any other task or project required from time to time, as directed by the CEO or Deputy CEO.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL
Experience
Experience of the range of financial management and management accounting, including analysis and commentary.
Experience of audits, invoices, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable and budget preparation.
Experience of working with and co-ordinating income and expenditure across multi-project budgets.
Ability to work to tight deadlines and some ad hoc schedules.
Knowledge
Knowledge of financial regulations and accounting processes.
Working knowledge of using QuickBooks.
Knowledge of health and safety legislation and employment law.
An understanding of equality, diversity, inclusivity and intersectionality and how this relates to this role.

Job Purpose
As the Marketing and Communications Lead at Gaddum, you will be at the forefront of shaping and delivering Gaddum’s marketing and communications strategy. Your work will raise awareness of our services and amplify the voices of those we support, helping to change perceptions around mental health, carers and community support.
Working with the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead on strategic campaign planning, media relations, stakeholder engagement, crisis communications and brand management. You will ensure that Gaddum’s brand and voice are consistently represented across all channels – internally and externally – and that our values are effectively communicated.
You will lead content creation, ensuring all marketing materials effectively showcase Gaddum’s services. By delivering clear, impactful messaging, you’ll strengthen our presence, expand our reach and reinforce Gaddum’s reputation as a trusted leader in mental health and carers’ support.
Main Duties
Strategy and collaboration
• Work closely with internal teams, SLT and external partners (including brand, communications, digital, media agencies, and national campaigns).

Media and public relations

The Charity
The Youth Adventure Trust is a youth development charity working with vulnerable young people aged 11 to 16 years old from Somerset, Wiltshire and Swindon. Our outdoor activity based YAT Adventure Programme enables young people to challenge themselves, experience success, learn to go beyond their own expectations and grow in confidence. Through a series of residential camps and day activities they are able to build resilience, self esteem and develop social and life skills. The YAT Resilience Programme works to the same outcomes through a year long programme of monthly activities, home-based challenges and reflective practice. Our Mentoring Programme works with those young people in need of some additional individualised support at the end of our other programmes. The Trust’s Bursary Programme is open to all those young people who have completed an initial programme, in order to assist their next steps into further activities. Our aim is to make a lasting improvement to the lives of vulnerable young people. All our services are provided completely free of charge to the young people who are nominated by schools and other youth organisations to take part.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and motivated Programme Manager to deliver, manage and support our YAT Adventure Programme.
Responsibilities will include:

Acting as the key point of contact to organise, deliver and oversee the Adventure Programme to a group of young people, including managing and supporting residential adventure camps and activity days throughout the year.

Recruiting young people to the programme, working in collaboration with our referral partners including schools and other organisations, ensuring all involved have an excellent understanding, relationship and experience with the Youth Adventure Trust.

Working in partnership with the young people’s families to promote full attendance, effective participation and ensure they have all the information they require.

Carrying out direct work with young people to help support their needs and fulfil the Youth Adventure Trust’s aims.

Providing ongoing feedback to young people, parents, carers and schools.

Supporting the effective monitoring of the programme and measurement of young people’s developmental outcomes.

Working with the Mentoring Managers to select and support young people moving on to the Mentoring Programme, and promote take up of the Bursary Programme.

Ensuring the highest standards of support, safety and safeguarding across the programme and all aspects of the Youth Adventure Trust’s work.

Taking the lead with day-to-day administration and management of the programme. This will include maintaining a database, producing written communications and reports, information leaflets, website updates, budget monitoring, booking and negotiating with providers, and an array of detailed record keeping.

Contributing to organisational planning and development, including supporting the development of further opportunities for young people.

Supporting the fundraising team through providing feedback, reports or event support.

We have a unique opportunity for a Clinician and Supervisor to join Northpoint. This role will involve working across Calderdale to support low intensity clinical supervision to a number of Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs), as well as holding your own caseload.

What you will be doing as our Clinician and Supervisor:
Day to day, you can expect to be supporting school settings to develop their understanding of the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) and EMHP role.
You will hold your own caseload, providing direct support to students, pupils and families at a higher level of need than EMHP support and/or working alongside EMHPs as necessary.
You will be supporting EMHPs with caseload management supervision and clinical skills, this includes trainee EMHP’s who are on their journey through university to qualification.
You may also be on your own training journey to complete a low intensity supervision course if you are not yet qualified as a supervisor. You will work alongside other mental health teams in Northpoint as well as wider Calderdale services.
What are we looking for in our ideal Clinician and supervisor:
- Already qualified as a supervisor, or able to meet the criteria for training (see specification).
- Two or more years working therapeutically, clinically or consultatively within a children and young people’s educational or mental health setting, with children and young people with mental health difficulties and their families.
- Experience of working in or with education settings and multi-agency working.
- Experience of delivering CBT informed practice.
- Experience of monitoring performance and outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to teach, train and provide clear consultation.

They should be proficient in using tools like Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Looker Studio and SEO platforms. The candidate must be highly organised, proactive, data-driven, a good collaborator, with the ability to manage multiple projects within a fast-paced working environment. The ideal candidate will also enjoy the creative side of digital fundraising, with a passion for creating compelling content for the various digital campaigns.
This position is based remotely, although you will be required to attend the charity’s head office located in Norfolk a minimum of 6 times per year and this will be at your own expense for travel and accommodation. You must be a resident of the United Kingdom with all the necessary legislative ‘right to work’ documentation.

Overview
•Support the Supporter Retention Manger (Loyalty) to design and deliver MAP’s individual giving retention strategy. Including bespoke welcome and ongoing multi-channel supporter journeys, for UK and international supporters
•Support the Supporter Retention Manger (Loyalty) to review individual giving retention activities and supporter journeys – developing a strategic approach and annual planning with a focus on regular giving and growing life time value

Campaign Management
•Work with the Supporter Retention Manager (Loyalty) to optimise MAP’s regular giving programme and supporter journeys across Individual Giving, through a variety of online and offline channels
•Support and project manage income and retention campaigns to our warm audiences to maximise income and loyalty. Including but not limited to: data segmentation, scheduling, feedback management, agency liaison, results monitoring and end of campaign analysis

Reporting and insights
•Championing a test and learn approach: identifying opportunities, developing tests and reporting on results

•Reporting on campaign performance and conduct end-of-campaign reviews - analysing data to spot trends and make recommendations for future campaigns

Invoice processing and administration

As part of the Mass Participation team, you’ll be responsible for developing the overall strategy for both the DIY and open challenge events programmes. Join Us as a Finance Manager
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity and sustainability of ESC. This part-time position (10 hours per week) is essential to maintaining strong financial records, reviewing budgets, and supporting compliance across the club’s operations. As a charity, our financial health is vital to delivering exceptional training, competitions, and community-based initiatives. Your expertise will help us grow and continue to provide high-quality opportunities for swimmers across all levels. Working closely with the Senior Management Team and Trustee Board, you will help with financial operations and contribute to the long-term success of the club.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Maintain the integrity of financial records for the charity and its members.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts as required.
- Account Management: Prepare quarterly management accounts and year-end accounts, including pre-payments, accruals, and journal entries.
- Financial Reconciliation: Reconcile all balance sheet accounts on the management accounts.
- Audit Preparation: Liaise with external auditors to prepare year-end statutory accounts.
- Treasury Management: Manage surplus funds efficiently.
- Payroll & HMRC Compliance: Prepare and manage monthly payroll and pension payments, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
- Policy Review: Conduct an annual review of ESC’s finance policies and procedures.
- Governance & Reporting: Attend trustee meetings and monthly operations board meetings as required.
- Sage Management: Ensure integrity of Sage accounting software.
- Charity Compliance: Submit annual returns to the Charity Commission and Companies House.
- Project Support: Lead ad hoc financial projects as needed.
- Event Support: Volunteer at ESC events, supporting fundraising and engagement activities.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5 years of experience in management accounting.
- ACA/ACCA qualification (or equivalent) preferable.
- Experience in charity finance preferred.
- Proficiency in Sage, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong numeracy and accuracy skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to tasks.

The Candidate
We are seeking a combination of the following skills, aptitude and experience:
- Experience designing and delivering staff training / professional development
- Track record building productive work cultures with colleagues with a range of experiences
- Experience coaching and line managing
- Evidenced interest in thoughtful hiring practices to acknowledge and reduce impact bias, including matching competitive processes with headhunting leads to improve diversity of insight and experience in candidates
- Experience in managing a diverse portfolio of work in a standalone role, with the ability to work to deadlines, remain calm under pressure, and reprioritise work in accordance with organisational needs
- A career/volunteering which evidences commitment to The Difference's mission of improving the lives of vulnerable children
You are more likely to be successful in your application if you have either/both:
- CIPD trained or willing to begin training & accreditation process
- Experience working in fast-paced start up culture; can-do in contexts of ambiguity
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with employee relations cases
- Experience in relational practices including restorative work
