Job Summary - Senior Research Officer

We are seeking a confident and organised Senior Research Officer to join our small but ambitious Research Team. This is a hands-on role with real scope to contribute to how we fund and manage research, and to make a genuine difference to a programme that's helping to save lives.
 

The Senior Research Officer will lead the delivery of our grant funding processes from end to end - managing application rounds, overseeing the active portfolio, coordinating our scientific committees, supporting our research events and leading our approach to patient and public involvement in research. Working in a small, specialist team means you'll also have real scope to contribute ideas, help improve how we do things, and play a meaningful part in the development of the research programme beyond the day-to-day.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 16 April.

Job Summary

A key focus of our strategy is to reach and engage with as many people as possible, affected by and at risk of bowel cancer, by embedding our information and support services within NHS diagnostic, treatment and care pathways. As Health Professional Education and Engagement Manager you will play a central role in helping us achieve this. With a focus on developing networks in primary care and developing existing relationships with CNS’s and secondary care health professionals, you will work across the UK to understand the needs of these stakeholders and identify ways in which we can support them. You will lead the development of our health professional education programme, combining live education events with online learning modules.

Primary objectives: The Head of Fundraising manages a small, expanding team to deliver sustainable fundraising income. Hours: 30 – 37.5 hours per week with some flexibility on when hours are worked.

Salary: £46000-£50000 FTE Pro Rata (depending on experience).

Pension: We make a 5% contribution to your pension with a minimum of 3% from the employee based on salary paid. Specialisms: The Head of Fundraising will specialise in increasing income through donor development and legacy fundraising whilst having a good, general understanding of community, corporate, events and challenge fundraising.

Office location: Your primary place of work will be at home, but significant time will be spent out and about meeting supporters and colleagues. Pepper has access to meeting facilities and a small operational base in Berkhamsted.

Area of operation: Fundraising will take place in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. There will be occasional visits and meetings outside this area.

The EDI Officer role focuses on enhancing equity in health access and outcomes for all social groups within the local community, particularly in OUH palliative care services. The post holder will collaborate closely with palliative medicine colleagues to develop and lead projects aimed at improving EDI aspects across all Palliative Care departments.

This will be achieved by implementing the five-year EDI strategy plan, which supports hospice teams in integrating EDI considerations in all areas of care. Additionally, the role involves contributing to Trust-wide Health Inequalities initiatives through collaboration with the Trust’s EDI colleagues and Patient Experience Team and various internal and external stakeholders to meet EDI and health inequalities objectives.

What you'll do

· Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Oversee the implementation of the EDI Strategy for the Palliative Medicine Department to ensure services meet the needs of the diverse population in the catchment area.

· Service Planning and Development, Project Management: Take responsibility for the development and implementation of projects and service improvements with an EDI focus as agreed with line manager or Clinical Lead.

· Data Collection and Analysis: Review and analyse data on groups with protected characteristics and/or who may experience palliative care health inequalities within our catchment.

· Engagement: Identify and work to engage individuals and carers who are experiencing/are at risk of experiencing health inequalities in end of life and palliative care.

We’re seeking a Fundraising Officer to support the growth of all our programmes, services, and campaigns. Primarily working on a new area of trusts and foundations fundraising, including researching prospects. AMMF is the UK’s only charity solely dedicated to raising awareness of and funding research into cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer).  The charity works closely throughout the UK with clinicians, healthcare professionals, researchers, policy makers, patients and their carers, as well as actively collaborating across Europe and globally.  

The role of the Fundraising Support and Admin Officer is to deliver high quality, responsive fundraising support across all areas of fundraising, and to drive forward AMMF’s fundraising activities, strategy and relationship development with supporters and funding partners, including the development and use of social media, and Microsoft Office, to achieve this.

It is expected the Fundraising Support and Admin Officer will develop an understanding of AMMF’s aims and objectives and its policies and procedures.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

TALK Surrey CIO is a small local charity dedicated to supporting people affected by stroke and aphasia, an acquired language and communication difficulty. We’re looking for a Senior Philanthropy Manager to join English National Opera and play a leading role in sustaining and growing our philanthropic income.

Requirements:

• Excited about the prospect of working at an innovative company, with accessibility at the heart of everything it does
• An outstanding fundraising professional, with experience securing five and six figure gifts
• Highly passionate and well-versed in the arts, music and opera
• Ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including funders of all kinds, audience members, visiting artists and ENO colleagues across all departments
• Dynamic individual with the ability to work independently, and yet collaboratively within the Development Department​
• Supportive colleague willing to share their skills, experience and knowledge with other fundraisers in the Department
• Ability to work with and build excellent working relationships with a wide range of visiting directors, conductors, designers and musicians as well as internal ENO staff
• Confident with technology and experience working with ticketing and CRM Systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication and skills and attention to detail
• Evidence of networking and relationship building at a senior level
• Commitment to professional development with a willingness to develop knowledge, skills and experience
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex budgets in a simple manner appropriate to different stakeholder audiences

About you  

This is a brand‑new role and an incredibly exciting time to join the team at PDSA. You’ll take the lead in developing a high‑impact prospect research function that underpins a strong pipeline of high‑value donors, trusts, and corporate partners.

In this role, you’ll deliver the insight, analysis, and intelligence that drive income generation, strengthen donor relationships, and shape fundraising strategy—ultimately helping us keep people and pets together when times are tough.

You’ll bring hands‑on experience in building prospect research pipelines, understanding donor behaviour, and using a wide range of tools to identify opportunities. You’re confident working with data, supporting major donor fundraising, and managing due diligence. You’ll also be comfortable navigating CRM systems and research platforms, and skilled at producing clear, actionable reports and briefings that help teams make informed decisions.

Please note that occasional travel will be required to our Head Office in Telford and to our Pet Hospital sites across the UK—typically a couple of times per month.
