Support Coordinator

We’re looking for an innovative, passionate and professional individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join the Life After Stroke Service based across Plymouth.  

This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following a stroke.

Position: S11346 Stroke Support Coordinator

Location: Home-based, Plymouth UK. However, frequent travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Salary: Circa £28,300 per annum

Contract: This is a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027

The Role

The service aims to identify and provide key worker support to meet the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway. Providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes.

The Stroke Support Coordinator will:

• Support new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.
• Provide personalised information, advice and support.
• Support stroke survivors to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes.
• Work collaboratively with NHS colleagues and other areas of the community to make a difference in the lives of people affected by stroke.

About You

The post holder will have experience/background in:

• A caring profession ideally with experience of supporting people with disabilities.
• Setting up and running virtual groups.

This role requires extensive travel across Plymouth to visit people at home and in community settings. Candidates must be able to demonstrate how they can meet this requirement of the role.

The Communications Department inspires, informs and engages the public by showcasing Alzheimer’s Research UK’s mission, impact and scientific progress across all channels. As part of this, the Content Team plays a vital role in creating clear, engaging and accessible materials that help audiences understand the importance of dementia research, the breakthroughs being made, and the change we are striving to achieve.

The Content Officer supports this work by producing accurate and engaging content that strengthens our story telling and supports our priorities. It contributes to the success of major campaigns. The role helps create a range of written, visual and multimedia materials that explain complex topics — including research, policy, partnerships and fundraising activity — in a compelling and accessible way.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across Policy, Corporate Partnerships, Brand, Strategic Marketing, Social Media, Digital and in the Communications team, the Content Officer ensures that content is aligned, consistent and impactful. The postholder also contributes to the smooth delivery of content production and publication processes, helping to maintain high standards and a coherent organisational narrative.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Delivery and production

· Develop high‑quality content across formats (e.g., explainers, briefings, blogs, supporter materials, video and digital assets) to support research, impact, policy and partnership storytelling.

· Produce accurate, engaging content for corporate and philanthropic partnerships, including supporter‑facing materials and impact stories.

· Contribute to major brand and campaign moments (e.g., World Alzheimer’s Month) through ideas, drafting and coordinated delivery.

· Develop multimedia assets — including infographics, short videos and visual explainers — by drafting briefs and supporting supplier liaison.

· Under the direction of the Content Manager, commission and manage external suppliers (e.g., designers, videographers, editors), ensuring briefs are clear and outputs meet ARUK’s brand, accessibility and quality standards.

 

Research and information support

· Gather and verify information from colleagues, partners and subject‑matter experts to ensure clarity and evidence‑based messaging.

· Translate complex information (e.g., research, policy or partnership updates) into clear, audience‑appropriate drafts and outlines.

· Support development of evergreen content frameworks and thematic content packages for campaigns and partnerships.

· Use audience insight and performance learnings to inform content development.

 

Cross‑Team collaboration

· Work collaboratively across Communications — including Social Media, Policy, Corporate Partnerships, Brand, Strategic Marketing, Research Communications and Digital — to meet shared content needs.

· Support improvements to content processes and workflows across the team.

· Assist with project coordination, helping manage timelines, track progress and support delivery within agreed budgets.

Ways of working:

As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

Herts Mind Network is a new delivery partner of Hertfordshire’s ‘Connect To Work’ programme, overseen by Step2Skills, Hertfordshire County Council.

The Connect to Work programme has launched in Hertfordshire in August 2025 and is designed to support residents with disabilities, health conditions, or complex barriers into meaningful employment.

This UK Government-funded programme is part of a nationwide effort to reduce economic inactivity and promote inclusive workplaces.

Connect to Work is a personalised Supported Employment programme that pairs eligible individuals with dedicated Employment Advisors.

About the Role

We are seeking four highly motivated, organised and compassionate Employment Advisors, to deliver the countywide Connect To Work programme in our new Employment workstream. In this highly rewarding role, you will be responsible supporting individuals experiencing mental health problems, and those facing complex barriers, to secure and sustain meaningful paid employment.

This position is part of the Connect to Work programme — a voluntary Supported Employment initiative funded by the Department for Work and Pensions. You will deliver the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, offering tailored advice and guidance to individuals, while also building strong partnerships with local employers to create opportunities aligned with individuals’ skills and aspirations.

As an Employment Advisor you will deliver the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model to meet individuals regularly to understand an individual’s skills, strengths and goals; developing clear action plans; provide practical support; and co-create personalised action plans.

The programme provides structured, 1:1 and group based person centred support to build confidence, motivation and resilience, to help individuals work towards clear, work related goals.

You will also engage with employers to identify suitable opportunities, arrange interviews, and offer ongoing support to both individuals and employers to promote successful job retention; whilst advocating for individuals to de-stigmatise mental health.

You may also work with a small number of individuals who are already in work to sustain and thrive in their employment.

As an Employment Advisor you will be responsible for:

• Delivering effective 1:1 and group person centred employment support to individuals looking for work
• Delivering effective 1:1 and group person centred employment support to individuals looking to continue with work
• Liaising with employers to seek opportunities for individuals

About you

Do you want to use your skills to make it possible for people with myeloma to live longer and better lives?  We are looking for a Peer Service Co-ordinator who will facilitate the delivery of our Peer Service and collaborate on the future development and improvements of the service.

You will have experience of recruiting, training, and supervising staff or volunteers. Experience working with a diverse range of communities would be an advantage as we are looking to increase our reach. The role holder will have an understanding of the challenges that may arise from delivering digital/telephone support and the ability to understand and meet training and development needs of volunteers.

You’ll have excellent communication, organisational and IT skills as well as being self-motivated, committed with a desire to make a difference and willing to develop and expand the role.  Experience of facilitating peer support services, with a focus on volunteer/user involvement in service delivery would be an advantage but not essential.

About the role

The Peer Service Co-ordinator will facilitate and develop the Peer Service, a tailored support service utilising volunteers to provide peer support both in and out of standard office hours.

The postholder will be expected to train and develop the volunteers who support the Peer Buddy service, make suggestions for improvements and recruit and train new volunteers to increase the diversity of the volunteer pool. You will support in delivering ongoing improvements and further service development to enhance the offerings of the peer service while working with the Peer Service Lead to ensure possible risks have been identified, assessed and effective risk management strategies have been put in place.

You will need to develop and maintain a good understanding of myeloma and its’ related conditions, including patient need, and develop and evaluate the service in line with this. 

This role will be part of the team responsible for running this service and provide supervision and training to volunteers. They will be expected to adhere to safeguarding principles and good governance.

We are seeking an Access to Justice (A2J) Coordinator to coordinate the provision of vital diagnostic immigration advice for vulnerable migrants. The role will coordinate the diagnostic advice appointment pathway from start to finish. This includes:

• Receiving, processing and triaging new enquiries for support
• Working with the Immigration Team to identify appropriate cases to be offered diagnostic advice
• Coordinating advice appointments with specialist external advisors and confirming the appointment details with the person receiving advice
• Disseminating written advice notes from the Advisors
• Coordinating follow-up actions, including referral into HMC’s Immigration Team for casework support (approx. 40% of people who access diagnostic advice are provided with onward support by HMC) or providing appropriate signposting for those we cannot offer long term support.

The Chief Executive & Creative Director leads and works collaboratively with the board, senior management team (SMT) and stakeholders and partners to ensure that Dance City creates opportunities for people to create, produce and experience dance at its very best. The Chief Executive & Creative Director drives the business, identifying commercial opportunities, securing financial resilience, and ensuring that Dance City’s programme is at the vanguard of sustainable dance development in the region. The Chief Executive & Creative Director is based in the northeast and plays an active role in the social life and cultural communities of the region.

• Lead on Dance City’s vision, values and organisational objectives and ensure the relevance and sustainability of its creative programme.

As a Foster Coordinator, you’ll recruit, support, and manage a diverse network of volunteer fosterers across your local area. Working closely with the Adoptions Coordinator, you’ll monitor foster capacity, match pets to suitable homes, and ensure a smooth and effective fostering journey.

This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm, plus one in three weekends (with two days off in lieu during the week).

1. Income Generation

· Maximise fundraising and revenue opportunities through community engagement delivering a number of community based initiatives to generate income over the year.

We are looking for a Senior Lead Gender Coalition who believes in this vision and is capable of building the leadership in youth workers and young people alike that enables them to turn the resources they have into the power they need to make the change they want. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. You will coordinate our Gender Coalition – Power in Balance. You will be accountable for the development and delivery of our Gender Coalition programme Power in Balance, including but not limited to:

• Coordinating efforts to set the strategic direction and priorities for the Programme, working primarily with the Director of Programmes and Partnerships and Associate Director of Partnerships, and in connection with others that need to feed into the programme.
• Proactively build relationships with our coalition partners. This involves: 
  • Holding regular 1:1s and relational meetings that strengthen our connection, supporting partners to identify and act on their developing political interests, and ensuring they meet coalition milestones
  •  It also includes providing ongoing support around campaigns and community organising, enabling partners to lead and deliver local actions following the Summer Camp.
• Lead the Youth Steering Group. This involves: 
  • Providing strategic oversight and facilitation of the Youth Steering Group, ensuring consistent engagement, strong attendance, and meaningful youth voice throughout the programme.
  • Setting clear agendas, supporting members to contribute confidently, and ensuring insights are captured and translated into programme design and delivery. 
  • Working closely with partners to maintain alignment and ensure the group reflects the diversity and needs of the young people Power in Balance serves.
• Lead the development of the Summer Camp. As part of this, you will be required to attend the Power in Balance Summer Camp (15th - 19th August 2026) to build your understanding of the model, support delivery, and become familiar with best practice in preparation for future leadership of the programme. In addition, you will:
  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Partnerships to oversee the delivery of the Power in Balance Summer Camp, ensuring all elements are well-coordinated, high-quality, and aligned with programme outcomes.
  • Take ownership of key logistics, including timelines, partner coordination, and on-the-ground delivery, ensuring a smooth and inclusive experience for all participants. 
  • Support and enact mechanisms to capture learning and feedback throughout, ensuring insights are gathered effectively to inform real-time improvements and future iterations of the camp.
• You will ensure that Power in Balance runs like a well-oiled machine by pulling in the right people at the right time to ensure key milestones are met:
  • Coordinate and maintain a suite of behind-the-scenes systems, processes and resources to keep things running like clockwork and provide transparency and help build trust
  • Coordinate the holding of safeguarding, risk management standards and ensure Health and Safety standards are met.
  • Maintain the clear monitoring and evaluation frameworks for your work which allow you and your team to learn, test, and re-test as you build, in partnership with young people and other partners
• Hold the budget for the Power in Balance Programme, ensuring that all activities are run within financial targets, working closely with the Director of Programmes and Partnerships and Associate Director of Partnerships to maintain oversight, identify efficiencies and potential savings, and proactively flag any risks or opportunities that may impact delivery or budget adherence.

2. You will support our wider partnerships work. Support the Associate Director of Partnerships to deliver our overall partnerships strategy. This will include, but is not limited:

• Working closely with the Senior Lead for Climate Coalition to identify opportunities for collaboration and reducing duplication
• Work closely with the Programmes, Organising and Campaigns, and Community teams to develop training on organising and campaigning.
• Deliver ad hoc workshops and meetings, holding space effectively and designing and delivering creative learning journeys for young people.

3. You will be a key member of the Programme Team, including but not limited to:

• Support efforts to set the strategic direction and priorities for the Programmes Team each financial year.
• Support the Director of Programmes and Partnerships and Associate Director of Partnerships with the management and mitigation of organisational risks presented by the Coalition by escalating issues in a timely manner and contributing to effective problem solving.
• Contribute to the delivery of wider organisational programmes beyond Power in Balance, including providing support to initiatives such as Ignite and other internal programme delivery as required, ensuring alignment with team priorities and organisational goals.

4.Share responsibilities for achieving our strategic objectives by upholding our vision, mission, strategy, ideology, and cultural values within your area and across TAA, supporting on cross-departmental projects as needed:

• Embody our commitment to social and economic justice, ensuring this is consistently reflected in decision-making, delivery and partnerships
• Role model and actively steward our culture and value expectations across the organisation including but not limited to: leading by example across departments and during team days and role-modelling leadership
• Proactively identify and surface opportunities that strengthen organisational impact, working closely with senior leadership, including the Director of Finance, HR and Ops, and contributing to strategic thinking and direction
• Hold responsibility for identifying and addressing risks to our integrity, authenticity and alignment with our ideology and culture, taking appropriate and timely action
• Strengthen collaboration across departments by creating and enabling opportunities for joint working, ensuring teams are aligned, resourced and working in tandem
• Contribute to a culture of openness and care by communicating your wellbeing needs to your line manager, shaping and feeding back on TAA wellbeing initiatives, and supporting others to engage with and uphold this culture
• Take ownership of your ongoing development, actively seeking opportunities to deepen your leadership, knowledge and areas of specialism

5.Governance and Compliance

• Work with your team and the Finance, HR and Operations team to prioritise and centre risk management in your portfolio: feeding into risk analysis and mitigation, identifying and escalating risks to the strategic objectives, taking the lead to mitigate risks early and thoroughly.
• Hold oversight of risk within your area, ensuring appropriate systems and practices are in place and consistently applied
• Ensure understanding and compliance with TAA policies and practices and take the lead on their implementation within your portfolio

From racism to the housing crisis to climate justice, you’ll be aware of how systemic injustice operates in our society, clued-up and well-informed on the big issues of our time, and committed to changing them.
•  You’ll be comfortable managing a “to-do” list of competing priorities and balancing your workload to meet competing deadlines.
•  You’re a sensitive and thoughtful relationship-builder who is interested in building a network of relationships to support the Advocacy Academy’s work. You’re a great listener, and remember people’s names, faces, and stories. 
• You’re a confident written and verbal communicator, who is comfortable with tailoring communication to reach a diverse range of audiences and stakeholders.
• You’re proactive, organised, and eager to learn, whether that’s chatting with potential funders, researching new opportunities or collaborating with teammates.

IDEAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE  

• At least 5 years of experience in programmes delivery on issues of social justice working with young people and/or 
• At least 5 years of experience in supporting people to be more confident and comfortable developing and implementing organising or campaign efforts.
• Detail oriented
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
•  Experience working with different audiences or types of stakeholders 
•  Strong project management and experience working collaboratively across teams both in person and online
• Excellent organisational skills with confidence managing multiple tasks at the same time/ balancing multiple priorities to meet deadlines
• Experience with our existing systems e.g., Gmail/ Google Doc/ Google Sheets/ Canva/ Slack
• Confidence working in a fast-paced environment
