Enhanced support worker jobs

The Community Support Worker will contribute to the delivery of our LGBTQ+ youth provision supporting young people aged 11+ (and 9+ for our junior youth club).

Specific Duties and responsibilities

Group work

• Develop and deliver ‘safe space’ forums in schools, providing suitable group work activities (this may be alongside school staff or leading on your own).
• Working with the team to both lead and support our youth group provisions on a rota’d basis (both in person and online).

Caseload

• Work with an intensive caseload of approximately 12 young people maintaining regular contact, through arranged appointments, offering information, advice and guidance, practical support and encouragement.
• Support clients to identify their strengths, interests, areas they would like to improve and barriers to progression, in order to develop their personalised action plan.

Service Delivery

• Support young people to increase their self-esteem, become more resilient and improve their aspirations.
• Utilise the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Tool (121s) and Free2B tools, to monitor progression and impact.
• Maintain relationships to work across multiple community and school settings, collaborating effectively with organisations to ensure positive service delivery.
• Maintain accurate and up to date written client database records and complete all admin tasks within required timeframes.

General Duties

• Attend regular case supervision and team meetings and events as appropriate.
• Adhere to Free2B’s Equality and Diversity policies with respect to staff and service users.
• Comply with Health and Safety legislation and Free2B policies, to ensure safe working practices.
• Undertake any other appropriate tasks, as agreed.

1. Experience of working with young people in 121 and group settings providing support and guidance to improve outcomes. E

St. John's is a non-maintained specialist provision, working with autistic people, the majority of whom also have learning disabilities. Some of our learners have co-occurring conditions such as epilepsy, hearing or visual impairments, or mental health needs. We also support autistic learners who have an additional profile of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) syndrome. We have a team built up of support workers, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, PBS practitioners, assistant psychologists, and more, to support us in our holistic approach to development.

Job Role: Floating Support Worker

Salary: £28,655 per year

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, compressed over 4 days

• Work collaboratively taking a multi-agency approach to safeguard clients.

About the role:

We are looking to appoint a Family Support Worker on a full-time basis (35 hours, 5 days per week), to deliver a high-quality family support service as part of our London & South East Team to families in the local area, at a time where they need it most. 

Reporting to the Family Support Manager of the London & South East Care Team and working in partnership with health, education and social care professionals, you will take responsibility for providing needs-led emotional, social and practical support to families where a child or young person has a life threatening or terminal illness. Salary: £4,192 per year (full-time equivalent £26,200)

As our new Assertive Outreach and Transitions Worker, you’ll stand alongside women at this critical point, making sure a move away from rough sleeping feels possible, supported and led by their choices.

Working across the streets, community settings and our Women’s Recovery Service, you’ll begin building relationships with women before they move in. You will support young people who have been affected by child criminal exploitation and missing. You will also work with many parents and carers who need emotional support, advice, information and/or advocacy because their child is being criminally exploited. • Deliver national anonymous support via phone, email, SMS, and live chat, working collaboratively with the helpline team to offer a wraparound exploitation support service.

Our Family Support Workers are given the opportunity to complete a number of diverse training courses in their first 12 months, including but not limited to: Mental Health First Aid, Makaton, counselling skills, and Introduction to Play.

The programme aims to provide a building block for you to individually tailor your own learning and development needs, with all family support workers having a foundation level of skills within their first year.
