Purpose of the role
In 2027 we will host our prestigious Global Congress. Held every four years, Congress convenes eminent leaders invested in global consumer rights and empowerment. This includes the heads of the leading consumer advocacy organisations, ministers and senior government representatives, leaders in civil society, executives at top businesses, prominent academics, and visionaries from philanthropic and international institutions.
Congress is critical to the mission of Consumers International. It is crucial for our governance, as the basis for our General Assembly, where our Membership elects the governing Council of Consumers International. Around this procedural milestone, we structure a participatory, diverse and unique programme that is designed to build and advance the future of consumer rights advocacy worldwide. Our last Congress brought together over 600 participants, including more than 100 at C-suite level, and was a platform for releasing new insight and announcing major partnerships. It featured over 30 interactive sessions taking place over three days in person and online, with extremely high satisfaction and feedback ratings from participants.
To drive forward our planning and delivery for our next Congress in 2027, we are looking for an exceptional Lead, Flagship Events. This person will be the organisational lynchpin for Congress, working directly with our Leadership Team at Consumers International to produce and execute a clear event plan according to ambitious milestones and key performance indicators.
The Lead will project manage and mobilise the wider Consumers International team to deliver the 2027 Congress, building a relationship with the host government and playing an essential part in producing a dynamic event that excites and inspires attendees. The Lead will bring strong leadership, coordination and project management skills to the role. They will have best-in-class relationship building and negotiation skills, experience dealing with senior stakeholders, and will have delivered major impactful events in the past.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management

Develop and drive delivery of a comprehensive Congress project plan with clear milestones, dependencies and performance indicators

Lead execution of the project plan, ensuring and mobilising the team to exert discipline against deadlines, priorities and organisational goals

Manage the Congress budget, including oversight of host government allocations and financial reporting

Role Purpose

We are seeking an organised and proactive administrator to support the delivery of our training programmes. This is a varied and rewarding role, central to ensuring the smooth running of our training calendar, communications, and events.
The postholder will work closely with schools, universities, coaches, and the wider team to coordinate training activity, maintain strong communication with stakeholders, and support the delivery of high-quality events.

Terms
- Hours: 28 hours per week (0.8 FTE), term-time equivalent working pattern comprising 39 term-time weeks and 15 flexible working days during school holidays.
- Annual Leave: 20 days’ paid annual leave (separate statutory entitlement, normally taken during school holidays).
- Salary: £18,400 per year (£26,000 FTE equivalent), pro-rated and paid in equal monthly instalments over 12 months.
- Contract: Initial 12-month term, with the potential to become a permanent position.
- Location: Home-based, with travel to London 2/3 times per term for meetings.

Role responsibilities:
1. Manage the day-to-day administration of training programmes
2. Maintain and update the training calendar, both offline and online
3. Liaise with schools, universities, and coaches to ensure clear and timely communication
4. Manage the shared inbox, responding professionally and efficiently
5. Support the coordination of events, including pupil days and teacher events
6. Take minutes and produce action log at board meetings, as required
7. Maintain and update mailing lists and contact databases
8. Send out certificates to training participants
9. Distribute coach feedback following sessions
10. Attend team meetings and training events as required
11. Take and prepare board meeting minutes
12. Assist with maintaining and updating Charity Commission records

About the Role
We are seeking an individual to undertake the dual role of promoting the profile of the RAF Benevolent Funds welfare offer, whilst also carrying out welfare casework. This is a community-based position working from home but covering South Central Scotland.
Post holders will be expected to undertake holistic assessment of need both remotely (over the telephone and online) and when required in person across their region. You will be expected to work with individuals who may have complex and sometimes challenging welfare needs, assisting them by identifying appropriate support from within both the RAF Benevolent Fund and the wider statutory and military charity sector, ensuring that support is made available to meet their need through the case working process.
The successful candidate will have experience of working in a social welfare role supporting individuals and will have strong people and relationship-building skills, as well as empathy with or understanding of issues affecting the Armed Forces community.
This is home based and the candidate must have their own vehicle for use of traveling around the region covered. Occasional travel to London will be required.
