ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a strong Administrator to provide high quality administrative and operational support to the Governance and Compliance Team.

Your role focuses on meeting coordination, record-keeping, and day-to-day governance administration, ensuring that Local Governing Bodies (LGBs) and governance professionals are well supported and compliant with Trust policies and statutory requirements. You will also provide administration support to the Federation’s risk and internal audit functions.

You will play an essential part in ensuring efficient governance and compliance operations, accurate documentation and timely communication, contributing to the smooth functioning of governance and compliance at academy and Trust level.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

As a Administrator to the Governance and Compliance Team, you will play a key role in supporting effective governance across our academies by providing high-quality administrative and operational support to the Governance Team.

You will support Local Governing Bodies through meeting coordination, clerking, and accurate record-keeping, helping to ensure governance processes are compliant, well-organised, and run smoothly at both academy and Trust level. The role requires a willingness to work some evenings to support governance meetings and the ability to travel across the Trust as needed.

Governance Records & Compliance Administration

• Maintain accurate governance records including:
• registers of interest
• governor attendance records
• training logs
• membership lists and terms of office
• Support onboarding and offboarding processes for governors, including DBS checks, induction materials, and profile updates.
• Ensure relevant governance documents, policies, and registers are updated and stored in line with Trust protocols.
• Assist with preparing documentation and evidence for governance audits and internal audit assurance checks.

Complaints & Panel Administration

• Support administration of complaints processes at academy level, including logging, tracking, and maintaining secure records.
• Coordinate panel dates, paperwork, documentation packs, and correspondence to complainants.
• Take minutes at hearings where required, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and procedural compliance.
• Support the Governance Manager by maintaining databases, generating reports, and ensuring actions are documented.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We would like to hear from you if you have:

• Qualifications to Level 3 or equivalent experience.
• Willingness to undertake governance-related training, with NGA or clerking qualifications desirable
• Experience in administration, clerical, or coordination roles.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to produce clear, accurate minutes and documentation
• Confident communication skills, both written and spoken

About the role

Reporting in to the Director of Finance and Corporate Governance, the Head of Governance, Compliance, and Risk will ensure robust governance, compliance, and risk management across Christian Aid and its subsidiaries which enables effective decision making.

The post-holder will be the the trusted advisor and subject matter expert in corporate governance on behalf of the Board, overseeing legal and regulatory compliance, develops and implementing a comprehensive risk management framework, and leading an internal audit programme that fosters organisational learning. The role will enhance and protect Christian Aid’s reputation and financial integrity while embedding best practices in governance and compliance.

Some of the main areas of responsibility for the Head of Governance, Compliance, and Risk include:

• Support effective trustee succession planning, effective Board meetings, and support for the Governance and Nominations Committee to ensure effective Board Governance.
• Provide expert advice on legal structures for subsidiaries, including Christian Aid Ireland.
• Provide high quality briefings with suggested solutions having sought professional advice where more specialist knowledge is required
• Establish and implement a comprehensive risk management framework including registers and appetite statements to guide directorate-level risk management.
• Develop a compliance culture covering data protection, money laundering, counter-terrorism, sanctions management, fraud prevention, and misuse of funds.
• Complete all regulatory filings (Charity Commission, OSCR, Companies House, ICO) within deadlines to avoid penalties.
• Implement an agreed internal audit plan reviewed by the Audit and Risk Committee to ensure assurance over key controls.
• Evaluate key contracts to ensure compliance and provide legal advice using external panels when necessary.
• Lead a team empowering others to drive progress and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
• Define team's responsibilities and drive the team to promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge to maximise impact and achieve outstanding results.

About you

Who we are looking for:

Essential:

• Professional qualification in law, accountancy, Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or corporate governance (ICSA).
• Extensive experience (5+ years) in UK Charity and corporate governance, compliance, and risk management within complex organisations.
• Demonstrable expertise in managing legislative changes and interpreting regulations.

This peer support project is delivered in partnership with South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust to support Carers of people with mental health conditions.  This project will work to support Carers through one-to-one support, outreach, training and peer support groups.

You will work within a residential setting, creating a safe and comfortable space which our residents can call their homes during their time within the service.

We're hiring a Housing Support Worker to join our floating support service which is based in Brent. You will support participants on their journey towards recovery, reablement, and independence, all within a compassionate, trauma informed environment.

You will also work closely in partnership with various organisations to support the different needs of our participants, which may include signposting. About Chapter One 

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in thirteen areas/regions of the UK and will support over 4,000 children in 2026-27.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (Y1-3) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability. 

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading. About the Role

Chapter One is seeking a London Programme Manager who is an excellent communicator and is able both to motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year. 

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently in and around North London. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work some additional hours during busy autumn weeks, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers.

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms.

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up.

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom.

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and effectively communicate this to others as needed.

We are looking for applicants with the following essential qualities:

• Highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. 

• Proven track record of working at a senior level in education, project management or a related field. 

• Proven strength in both written and verbal communication. 

• Highly IT literate, with excellent computer skills, able to troubleshoot software and technical  hardware issues, adept with Google suite and Microsoft Teams.
