UK Contracted Reward Review

Mines Advisory Group (MAG) is seeking an experienced reward consultant or consultancy team to support a comprehensive review and redesign of its UK contracted reward framework.

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation working to save lives and build safer futures in conflict affected and fragile contexts. We operate globally across mine action and weapons and ammunition management programmes, working in partnership with governments, donors and affected communities.

Overview

MAG is undertaking a strategic review of its UK contracted reward framework to ensure it remains fit for purpose, aligned with organisational priorities, and able to support the attraction, retention and development of key talent.

MAG has committed to a more comprehensive review in 2026. This assignment will provide external expertise to support diagnostic analysis, design of a revised framework, and development of practical, implementable recommendations.

Purpose of the assignment

The purpose of this consultancy is to review and redesign key elements of MAG’s UK contracted reward framework so that it is fair, transparent, market aware, operationally effective and financially sustainable.

The assignment will combine technical analysis, stakeholder engagement, options development and implementation planning.

Scope of work

The review will focus on UK contracted staff and will include:

• Review of reward policy and principles to assess alignment with organisational needs and future direction
• Assessment of current job family structure, grading architecture and overall framework design
• Review of job evaluation methodology, including clarity, consistency and practical application
• Analysis of salary structures, progression approaches and incremental models
• Review of allowances and modular reward elements, with recommendations for simplification and alignment
• Development of practical design options with clear recommendations and rationale
• Indicative cost modelling and affordability analysis
• Development of a high level implementation and transition roadmap

The consultant will engage with key internal stakeholders and provide advice that is grounded in relevant market practice while being appropriate for an international humanitarian organisation.

Deliverables

The assignment is expected to produce:

• A diagnostic report outlining strengths, risks and key issues in the current framework
• An options paper with clear recommendations and rationale
• A high level proposed reward framework design
• Indicative financial modelling of recommended options
• An implementation and transition roadmap
• Presentation materials suitable for senior leadership and governance discussions

Timeline

The assignment is expected to run from May to September 2026, aligned to MAG’s internal governance milestones.

About you

We are looking for a consultant or consultancy team with:

• Demonstrable expertise in reward framework design and review, including grading structures, job evaluation and pay progression
• Strong experience working with not for profit, humanitarian or complex international organisations
• Ability to design reward frameworks that balance fairness, transparency, affordability and operational practicality
• Strong analytical capability, including cost modelling and translation of design options into financial impact
• Experience working with geographically diverse or internationally mobile workforces
• Credible benchmarking capability and access to relevant market data
• Ability to apply a diversity, equity and inclusion lens to reward design
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to senior stakeholders and governance bodies
• Proven ability to deliver within defined timelines and manage confidential data appropriately

About the role

Operations Director

The Role Purpose

The Operations Director (OD) will hold total accountability for the day-to-day running of Dunfield House. As a Board member, you will translate the Board’s long-term vision into operational reality. Your mission is to maximise the potential of our 15-acre estate, ensuring exceptional guest experiences across all potential revenue streams, while maintaining the financial health and charitable ethos of the venue.

Organisational Structure

You will act as the "hub" of Dunfield House, providing leadership, mentorship, and accountability to a dedicated senior management team.

Direct Reports

• Sales & Marketing Manager: Driving occupancy and commercial revenue.
• Admin Assistant: Oversight of HR, budgets, cash flow, and financial reporting.
• Site Caretaker: Ensuring the 15-acre site, indoor pool, and historic buildings are safe, compliant, and well-maintained.
• Head of Kitchen: Managing food safety, gross profit (GP), and quality of service.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Governance

• Prepare and present monthly operational reports to the Chairman and the Board.
• Present Key financial reports in collaboration with the admin assistant.
• Lead the annual business planning process.
• In collaboration with the sales and marketing manager, implement the marketing strategy.
• Act as a guardian of Dunfield’s culture, ensuring the venue remains a "home from home" for all guests.

2. Financial & Commercial Management

• Work with the admin assistant to optimise margins, particularly focusing on energy efficiency and food costs.
• Work with the sales & marketing manager to implement dynamic pricing and improve mid-week occupancy.
• Understands the importance of financial management and has the ability to compile financial reports for Board meetings.

3. Operational Excellence & Compliance

• Oversee the site caretaker to ensure rigorous health and safety standards, particularly regarding the indoor pool and fire safety in a high-capacity residential setting.
• Oversee the head of kitchen to ensure 5-star hygiene ratings and efficient volume catering for up to 90 guests.
• Streamline internal processes (booking systems, staff rotas, guest check-ins) to improve efficiency.
• Share duty manager responsibilities.

4. People & Culture

• Foster a high-performing, collaborative environment between the distinct departments.
• Manage recruitment, appraisals, and professional development for the senior team.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

1. Financial & Efficiency KPIs

• Primary KPI: Achievement of 103 FHE days.
• Secondary KPI: 15% conversion rate of OTA guests to direct bookers.
• Tertiary KPI: Average TRevPAG of £2.00+ per guest.

2. Operational & Capacity KPIs

• Full House Equivalent (FHE) Readiness: While Sales books the days, Operations must ensure the site is "Turnaround Ready." A KPI for "Zero Down-Time" between back-to-back groups.
• The "Pool Availability" Score: A KPI of 98%+ uptime (excluding scheduled maintenance).
• Catering Margin: 70% Gross Profit (GP) on meals by managing waste and seasonal purchasing.

3. Compliance & Duty Management KPIs

• Health & Safety Audit Score: 100% compliance on monthly internal safety checks (Fire, Water/Legionella, Pool, Safeguarding).
• Guest "Home from Home" Satisfaction: A score (derived from post-stay surveys) specifically measuring Cleanliness and Facility Functionality.
• Staff Retention & Training: A target for Staff Turnover <15%.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience

• Senior Management: At least 5 years in a senior operational role within hospitality, residential centres, or large-scale venue management.
• Board-Level Presence: Comfortable reporting to a Board and communicating complex operational data to stakeholders.
• Commercial Acumen: Proven track record of improving profit margins without compromising service quality.
• Team Leadership: Experience managing diverse teams (from maintenance and catering to sales and finance).

Skills

• Strategic Thinking: The ability to look beyond the day-to-day and plan for the next 3–5 years.
• Financial Literacy: Ability to interpret P&Ls, balance sheets, and budget variances.
• Adaptability: Equally comfortable in a boardroom meeting as they are walking the estate with a contractor.

We are currently offering a rewarding opportunity within our Helpline Team who are the ‘front-door’ to CSWS, providing a first point of contact for carers and professionals via our Countywide telephone and email service, online portal, and chat services. 

Carer Wellbeing Workers on the Helpline focus on registration and ‘Tier 1’ conversation model using active listening skills to identify any most pressing need before referring/signposting onwards.

You will have excellent IT skills and experience of working with adults and families, and working knowledge and / or lived experience of social care and health. You will use excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide a professional, time-limited and informed service for carers who contact the helpline for a variety of reasons and who may be distressed or in need of safeguarding support. 

The role is mainly remote / homeworking with the expectation that you may need to travel on occasions to in-person meetings and training across the country. This role would therefore suit those located in, or close to, West Sussex.

Key Responsibilities

•  Work within a team to provide carer registration and support to carers via a variety of methods (phone, email, online chat) following the ‘Tier 1’ conversation model – addressing only the most pressing need before referring/signposting onwards, including referrals to our Community and Health Teams.

•  Supported by a Shift Manager, respond with a professional, time-limited and informed service for carers who contact the helpline for a variety of reasons and who may be distressed or in need of safeguarding support. 

•  Provide guidance to professionals outside of the organisation, answering queries about carer’s support or related areas.

•  Follow Carers Support West Sussex processes to record activities on in house database systems. Accurately record all interventions on CSWS Client Record Management System to enable timely and informative reports on the services provided.

•  Use a range of outcome-based tools to evidence your work and as a framework to support carers to create a personal plan to identify and achieve positive change. Demonstrate the impact the service has made through feedback surveys, case studies and collating general feedback.

•  Focus on outcomes for the carers, appropriately triaging and signposting them to relevant services making dynamic decisions about the suitable pathway for a carer. Work closely with colleagues to ensure carers receive timely support.

•  Provide mentoring and support to volunteers who work within the team to provide services to carers.

•  Promote the principles of Think Carer across all networks and proactively identify carers and opportunities through partnership working, outreach, community connections and networking, promoting carers as expert partners in care.

About the Youth Endowment Fund 

All of us will experience violence at some point in our lives. For many children, it is a daily reality. Each year, tens of children are killed, hundreds are hospitalised, 1 in 5 teenage children are victims and the majority admit to feeling afraid of violence. It scares them when they travel home from school, prevents them from going out and makes the most vulnerable feel like they don’t matter. It is taking lives, traumatising families and dividing communities. It robs potential, progress and hope.   

But it doesn’t have to be this way.   

The Youth Endowment Fund believes that no child should be affected by violence. We research violence to understand it; we find, fund and test what works to prevent it; and we are building a movement to end it.  

Key Responsibilities 

We are making good progress building the evidence of what works within and around the youth sector to reduce violence. With the launch of the new Practice Guidance we are keen to translate evidence recommendations into practice. The greatest risk is that evidence stays on the shelf and doesn’t help young people – your role is to make sure that doesn’t happen.
 
You’ll focus on helping local authority commissioners use our tools and guidance in their everyday decisions about youth services. This will involve: 

• Creating clear, practical content like guides, toolkits and workshop materials to support the use of Practice Assessment for the Youth Sector (PAYS). 

• Leading our Practice Guidance programme, working closely with commissioners to help them use evidence in their work. 

• Building strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders across the sector. 

• Planning and tracking how we support more commissioners to adopt evidence-based approaches. 

• Spotting what tools or resources are needed and helping develop them. 

• Finding effective ways to share evidence, from events and workshops to online sessions and presentations. 

As a senior member of staff in the organisation, you also:

About You

You might have this sort of experience:  

• Crafting and delivering a strategy to get a new piece of evidence or guidance adopted within the youth sector.

• Behaviour change research experience.

• Working with other funders and commissioners of youth services, such as housing investment leads.

Role Purpose

GDI Hub CIC is seeking an experienced PA/ Team Assistant to provide high-level support to its CEO and Academic Director as well as support the wider team.

The successful candidate will enable the CEO and Academic Director to be more effective by providing proactive administrative, communication, and operational support. The role will act as a key coordination point across the organisation, ensuring priorities are managed, diaries are coordinated, and that the CEO and Academic Director’s time is used strategically.

In addition, the candidate will also support the wider GDI Hub CIC team, particularly Operations, Comms and Project Delivery.

Across all elements of the role, the successful candidate will need to work with multiple colleagues and balance competing priorities. Responsibilities will include diary and time management, handling written communication, arranging national and international travel and logistics, event coordination, administrative support, and meeting and document preparation.  This role will work closely with members of the GDI Hub team, with some interactions with external partners, collaborators and stakeholders.

We are looking for a candidate with strong organisation, administrative and communication skills. The ability to work in a changing environment is essential, as is a coordinated approach and willingness to take on new tasks.

Successful candidates will need to be proactive and organised with excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Job Purpose

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our grants team to support the charity in delivering approximately £5m of grant awards per year.

The Senior Grants Officer will play an active role in supporting Alder Hey Children’s Charity’s grant development and awarding process, liaising with Trust colleagues on grant applications and awards.

The post holder will work closely with fundraising teams to support donor asks and ongoing stewardship.

They will also support the Grants Manager in developing systems and processes for effective grant management, including maintaining up-to-date records on Salesforce.

Additional Information

In April 2025, the charity adopted a four-day working week policy. Staff previously working 37.5 hours now work 30 hours across four days, maintaining full pay while supporting a better work-life balance.

A fantastic opportunity to join the Cure Parkinson’s Research team – a medical research charity supporting research to slow, stop or reverse Parkinson’s. Working with the Director of Research, this role will have management of Cure Parkinson’s clinical portfolio. The charity supports a large treatment selection process that feeds new clinical trials seeking disease modification. This is an exciting time in Parkinson’s research and there is the opportunity to have a really meaningful impact by joining the Cure Parkinson’s team as we expand our funding schemes and initiate new ventures.

As our Clinical Research Manager, you will have a PhD in life sciences (an MD or MBSS would be advantageous) and significant experience in clinical trial development. A healthcare professional engaged in medical research you will be looking to move to the charity sector to influence the strategic direction of the Parkinson’s research field and drive forward the search for a cure. You must have a strong understanding of Parkinson’s, the biology associated with the condition, and the agents currently in development. You will require excellent organisational and communication skills as you will be representing the charity via stakeholder engagement. Working as an effective member of our Research Team you will be able to handle multiple tasks with precision simultaneously and be comfortable building relationships and providing support for researchers.
