Head of Funding and Green Finance - Western Forest
This is a rare, unique and exciting opportunity to take a lead role in developing the programme and setting the strategic path for the Western Forest – the first new national forest in over 30 years.
The Western Forest is a brand-new programme launched, with national and Ministerial profile, in March 2025. The Forest will support over 2.5 million people, cultivating a greener, more connected future by creating a landscape with trees and woodlands at its heart. The Western Forest will deliver landscape scale change and real green investment, connecting people and nature across three regions – Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and the West of England (including North Somerset).
The Western Forest’s Head of Funding and Green Finance will drive, direct and manage the delivery of a diverse range of funding sources to deliver the new national forest. They will ensure the development of sustainable income streams and models of delivery by 2030. This role will be responsible for the development and delivery of the Western Forest’s fundraising strategy to generate £13mn or more in additional income over the next five years to ensure effective long-term delivery of our strategic plan.
Reporting directly to the Western Forest Director, the Head of Funding and Green Finance plays a key role, helping to set the direction for the Western Forest.
Salary: £50,000-50,146, with annual pay review
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, with flexible working hours
Contract: Permanent
Location: Bristol with the option of hybrid working. Travel and meetings across the Western Forest area and working at partner offices will also be required.

The role and your key responsibilities
As an Account Manager, your role is to make sure that all partners in your area make the most out of the Unifrog platform. You’ll build and maintain excellent working relationships with your partner schools and colleges, and provide expert guidance on how to embed the platform across all year groups.
You will cover your own area of the country with occasional travel to your partner schools and colleges (on average 1-2 days per week). Please note you will need to be based in Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Berkshire, or Wiltshire for this role.
Your key responsibilities will include:

· Produce a fundraising report for the annual accounts, identifying strengths, weaknesses and areas for development in the Fundraising Strategy
TRUSTS AND GRANT-MAKING BODIES
· Liaise with the General Manager to ensure a coordinated fundraising plan and targets, in keeping with the artistic vision for Rodolfus
· Proof and submit applications and be the point of contact for Trusts and Foundations (this work is currently supported by the General Manager and a fundraising consultant)
GENERAL
· Attend Team and Board meetings as required

The Bird of Prey Project is a registered charity and multiple award-winning visitor centre and zoo working to conserve birds of prey, restore habitats and make wildlife education accessible. At this exciting time for the organisation, we are looking to recruit a new Charity Manager who can manage the visitor centre whilst working alongside the Board of Trustees to develop strategy and objectives for the charity. You will have the incredible opportunity to lead a team working to inspire the public about wildlife, develop the highest standards of bird welfare and restore populations of wild raptors.
What is the role about?
The Charity Manager works directly with the Board of Trustees to manage the charity and visitor centre.
The visitor centre receives over 10,000 visitors per year who provide the majority of the charity’s income. The senior bird team provide a high standard of ethical raptor care to over 20 species, using restraint free management and free-flight techniques, and also deliver experiences and displays to the public. The Charity manager works to ensure that the site is safe and compliant with law & best practice, the senior bird team are provided with adequate resources and that the visitor centre is meeting goals for income generation.
The charity’s mission is to Conserve birds of prey, restore habitats and make wildlife education accessible. The Charity Manager over-sees the staff team delivering the charity activities, ensuring work is recorded and reported correctly.
You would also be responsible for line managing both Deputy Centre Managers. You should be confident in making decisions and able to balance opportunity and risk. An ability to operate within and develop governance, finance and risk frameworks is also a key part of the role, and whilst a background with working with birds of prey or in wildlife conservation is not necessary, you should be passionate about The Bird of Prey Project’s mission.

- Overseeing income generation through visitor experience, including social media and marketing
- Develop new streams of income generation – including fundraising

We are looking for people to join our Bristol teams as Night Concierges. You will be being joining 1 of our dedicated teams who provide person centered support to people experiencing homelessness in our mixed complex needs accommodation service, or our Women’s pathway.
Working as a Night Concierge, you will:
- Provide a first point of contact and safeguarding to clients at night.
- You may be required to work alone, being responsible for dealing with emergencies, undertaking regular health and safety checks on patrols and through monitoring the CCTV system.
- Report incidents or maintenance issues and communicate any concerns or events to the rest of the team.
Typical schedule: A rolling night shift rota, including weekends and bank holidays, usually around 9pm-7.30am with 3-4 days off.
About you
This is a great role to learn about working in the charity sector, many of our specialist workers and managers developed a career after starting in Night Concierge roles.
You don’t need extensive experience; but some experience of working or volunteering in a similar environment and an understanding of the issues that affect vulnerable adults with mental health support needs will be beneficial.

About the Role
This role is situated within the NYA Academy with a focus on providing the very best youth work learning and development experiences across our NYA activities and programs for clients and young people. - Manage and motivate a team of youth work specialists, providing line management and opportunities for reflective practice.

- Tutor and assess cohort(s) of learners.
