Job description

About Us

Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil CIC is a grassroots movement committed to confronting and eradicating Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) across the UK. We give survivors, families, and allies the power to speak out, heal, and educate communities through storytelling, outreach, and collective action. We work across all communities, Black, white, Asian, Caribbean, and African, ensuring no survivor feels alone or silenced.

Our CIC operates through a community-driven, volunteer-led structure, built by people who believe in truth, justice, and love as law.

The Role

Volunteer Digital Marketing Director

Responsibilities:

  • Design, coordinate, and oversee the CIC’s digital infrastructure during the build and early growth phase.

  • Develop and maintain a coherent digital architecture that supports operational delivery across all teams.

  • Ensure digital systems align with real working practices rather than forcing teams to adapt to tools.

  • Define how digital tools support:

 Volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and management

 Membership and donor journeys

 Fundraising activity and reporting

 Training and learning delivery

 Internal communication and collaboration

  • Oversee configuration, maintenance, and appropriate use of core digital platforms, including:

 CRM systems

 Learning platforms

Internal collaboration and secure storage tools

 Email, automation, and communication tools

  • Ensure all systems remain usable for volunteers with varied technical confidence.

  • Produce and maintain clear documentation for:

 System setup

 Access and permissions

 Day-to-day use

  • Define and manage user access levels across all platforms.

  • Implement controls for sensitive data, including survivor-related information and volunteer or donor records.

  • Work closely with Safeguarding and Finance teams to ensure lawful, ethical data handling.

  • Act as the senior escalation point for digital system issues.

  • Coordinate fixes, improvements, or temporary workarounds when platforms are limited or fail.

  • Ensure operational continuity during system changes or migrations.

  • Produce and maintain system maps, user guides, and SOPs.

  • Provide regular updates to leadership on system performance, risks, and capacity.

  • Ensure digital systems actively support safeguarding requirements.

  • Apply UK GDPR principles, including data minimisation, access control, and retention.

  • Escalate digital safeguarding or data risks promptly.

  • Help design the long-term digital operating model for the CIC.

  • Support transition planning from volunteer-led systems to future paid roles.

  • Ensure digital systems are scalable, sustainable, and not dependent on single individuals.

  • Make informed decisions on digital tool selection within agreed constraints.

  • Approve system configurations and access levels.

  • Recommend system changes based on operational need and risk.

  • Escalate critical risks related to data, safeguarding, or system failure

What We’re Looking For:

  • Equivalent professional or voluntary experience accepted.

  • Experience working in non-profit, CIC, or community organisations.

  • Familiarity with open-source or low-cost digital platforms.

  • Experience supporting volunteer-led digital operations.
