The Role - Volunteer Content and Donor Communication Specialists

JOB PURPOSE

This role exists to:

•        Craft and manage communications for donors, stakeholders, and the wider community

•        Translate survivor-led stories and CIC activities into impactful messaging

•        Develop content for emails, newsletters, social media, and fundraising campaigns

•        Support the Fundraising Director in building donor relationships through clear, engaging, and ethical communication

•        Ensure all content aligns with CIC values, trauma-informed practice, and safeguarding policies

Responsibilities:

• Develop clear, engaging, and accurate copy for all donor and community communications, including: Emails and newsletters, Fundraising campaign materials, Donor updates and acknowledgements andEvent promotions and volunteer communications.

• Maintain a consistent organisational voice and messaging across all communication channels.

• Collaborate with the Fundraising Director to ensure content aligns with campaign goals, donor engagement strategies, and organisational priorities.

• Work with the Social Media Team to ensure content supports multi-channel campaigns and wider communications objectives.

• Track donor engagement, feedback, and responses to communications to identify patterns and refine messaging for maximum impact.

• Support segmentation, personalisation, and targeting of communications to ensure relevance and donor retention.

• Ensure compliance with data protection (GDPR), safeguarding, confidentiality, and ethical standards in all communications.

• Collaborate with volunteers and other teams to adapt content for different audiences, ensuring inclusivity, accessibility, and cultural sensitivity.

• Proofread, edit, and quality-check all content before publication to ensure accuracy and professional presentation.

• Contribute to content planning, calendars, and scheduling to maintain regular, timely, and coordinated communications.

• Assist in developing templates, guides, or SOPs for donor and community communications.

• Provide guidance and mentoring to other volunteers involved in content creation or communications.

• Monitor performance metrics for communications and produce reports to inform strategy and campaign planning.

• Ensure all communications reflect and uphold the C.I.C’s values, culture, and brand identity

What We’re Looking For:

Essential / Highly Valued Experience

• Professional or voluntary experience in copywriting, communications, or journalism.

• Experience creating email newsletters, donor updates, or fundraising communications.

• Strong understanding of donor engagement strategies and how content impacts retention.

• Experience creating content for social media with organisational or campaign objectives in mind.

• Editing, proofreading, and content planning skills.

• Ability to maintain a consistent organisational voice across platforms.

• Familiarity with GDPR, data protection, and safeguarding requirements for communications.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement:

• Develop and implement a dynamic fundraising plan that includes a variety of strategies tailored to Roots Academy’s target audiences, including university MSAs, mosques, and Islamic organisations.

• Identify and build partnerships with key community organisations, MSAs, and Islamic centres to create collaborative fundraising opportunities.

• Stay adaptable to emerging opportunities for funding, leveraging both traditional and innovative approaches to engage and attract potential donors.

Relationship Building:

• Actively engage with MSAs, Islamic centres, and community organisations to establish Roots Academy as a cause worth supporting and to cultivate long-term donor relationships.

• Collaborate with MSAs and community partners to organise local fundraising events, campaigns, and other initiatives that resonate with the community.

• Serve as a liaison between Roots Academy and these partner organisations to foster a spirit of collaboration and mutual support.

• Work closely with MSAs and community organisations to retain donors by creating meaningful engagement opportunities and maintaining a sense of involvement with Roots Academy’s mission.

Campaign Management:

• Lead and coordinate diverse fundraising campaigns, including online initiatives, MSA-driven campaigns, and in-person events like benefit dinners and community gatherings.

• Work with Roots Academy’s marketing team to create campaign materials and digital content, ensuring that each initiative is tailored to engage and inspire potential donors.

• Coordinate and oversee logistics for events, ensuring a smooth and impactful experience for all participants and maximising fundraising outcomes.

Tracking and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities, donor interactions, and campaign outcomes to ensure transparency and accountability.

• Provide regular reports to the leadership team on fundraising efforts, adapting strategies as needed based on campaign performance and community feedback.

• Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of different fundraising approaches, enabling continuous improvement in future efforts.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Fundraising Experience: Proven experience in developing and executing successful fundraising strategies, particularly for nonprofit organisations, educational initiatives, or Islamic institutions.

• Community-Oriented: A deep understanding of the Muslim community in Canada, especially in relation to university students and local mosques.

• Relationship Building: Proven experience in building and maintaining meaningful relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.

• Project Management: Strong organisational skills with the ability to support program delivery efficiently.

• Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences, from students to community leaders.

Role summary

St Helena is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to be part of their fundraising team, supporting events and initiatives in their local areas to help raise awareness and much needed funds. The role is flexible and we will fit around your availability. We have events throughout the year and would invite you to support across all areas of fundraising. 

Main duties of this role may include any of the following:

• Attend St Helena events to help with marshalling, registration, refreshments or selling merchandise

• Attend external third party events to represent St Helena

• Attend external events and venues to engage with the public to encourage participants to sign up to events and challenges

• Participate in bucket collections and other fundraising opportunities in the local community as requested

Sheffield Hospitals Charity provides additional funding to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust who support people at every stage on life’s journey. From welcoming babies into the world on the Jessop Wing, supporting cancer care at Weston Park, specialist care at the Royal Hallamshire, Charles Clifford and the Northern General, to improving the mental, physical and social wellbeing of people in our communities. The support provided by Sheffield Hospitals Charity helps to improve the lives of people across Sheffield from patients and their families to our NHS staff who take care of them.

The Chair plays an important role in the governance of the charity, providing leadership to the Board of Trustees to work together, reach good collective decisions, and manage any conflicts. The responsibilities of our Chair are as follows:

Oversight and governance 

• Lead the Board of Trustees to support development of and approve the charity’s strategy and corresponding plan. 

• Lead the Board to make key strategic decisions in the organisation’s best interests and in line with its charitable objects. 

• Lead the Board in ensuring there is financial strategy oversight, and the organisation’s resources are managed responsibly. 

• Ensure the organisation is operating in line with charity law, charity regulation and its own governing document.

Working with trustees 

• Support trustees with development and annual one-to-one reviews. 

• Help the Board work as a team, drawing on specific expertise, lived experience, and diversity of thought across the Board. 

• Chair board meetings and work with the CEO and EA to ensure they are well planned and minuted and that actions are circulated and followed up. 

• Ensure trustees are given the information they need to make decisions effectively.

Chair-CEO relationship

• An ongoing and meaningful connection to Sheffield and good standing within the city. 

• Experience as a board member, trustee, non-executive director, or chair. 

• Strong comprehension of charity law, regulation, and the roles and responsibilities of a charity chair and trustee. 

• Skilled in strategic planning, financial management, risk management, and organisational performance. 

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage, influence, and negotiate with a range of senior stakeholders diverse in sector and profession. 

• Capable of building and maintaining relationships in a complex stakeholder environment with competing priorities. 

• Robust communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate complex information to a range of diverse stakeholders. 

• The ability to lead effectively and inclusively during times of transformational change within and beyond an organisation. 

Desirable 

• Previous chairing experience at the non-executive level. 

• Experience in working within the health and social care and/or charity sectors – either as an employee or appointee.

Trustee – Ukrainian Institute London

Ukrainian Institute London (UIL) is an independent charity dedicated to advancing public education in the United Kingdom by broadening knowledge and understanding of Ukraine. UIL is seeking to appoint two new Trustees. As a Trustee, you will help shape the strategic direction of the organisation, ensure strong governance, safeguard UIL’s independence and integrity, and support its long-term sustainability. • Representation of the UIL at occasional meetings with partners or public-facing events.

Overall, the commitment is expected to average approximately 1-2 days per month ​​(which includes attendance at UIL events) and can easily fit in with other commitments.

Fundraising volunteers wanted to help East London Waterworks Park reach its funding goals

East London Waterworks Park is working to acquire a 14-acre, concreted-over depot on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, and to transform it into a ‘brownfield rainforest’ with wild-swimming pools and creative learning spaces for the local community. We are showcasing an environment-first, community-led approach to land ownership that will help nature and people thrive together, revolutionising the way we think about green and blue spaces in cities.

Our Crowdfunder raised over half a million pounds towards buying the land, but we are waiting for the landowner to make decisions about the use of the site. Whilst we wait, we need to raise money for the other work we are carrying out. We have an exciting programme of community projects and work coming up, including carrying out biodiverse transformations on other sites in London.

If you have experience of planning or running fundraising campaigns and would like to get involved with a local charity, we would love to hear from you. Perhaps you are buzzing with ideas of how to raise money or are keen to get stuck in and help to make some events happen. Maybe you are a good writer and seller of ideas and would like to join our mini team of funding bid writers. We would especially love to hear from you if you have experience of writing funding applications.

If you are a professional fundraiser and would like to help but are short on time, we would still love for you to get in touch. Even if you are unable to get deeply involved, we would appreciate one-off or ongoing advice.

Introduction

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team of Volunteer Community Fundraisers and Event Coordinators. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of people with disabilities and their families and contribute to the betterment of your community. Our Charity

The CFDN charity has been in existence since 1962 servicing people with disabilities and their families of all faiths and none across Essex and East London. We rely on our dedicated volunteers to help us support our community and enable people with disabilities with the social, emotional, spiritual and material support they may need.

Many of our volunteers have been with us for 20+ years, and we are looking to extend our dynamic and diverse workforce of volunteers and staff.

Responsibilities

- Help plan, organise and run fundraising initiatives and events

- Market and promote our events and activities across your area

The Corporate Sponsorship and Partnerships Officer ensures that our vision connects with external supporters who share our values and want to contribute meaningfully to systemic change. You will identify, cultivate, and manage relationships that provide financial support, in-kind contributions, and strategic collaborations, helping the C.I.C thrive while maintaining ethical and values-aligned partnerships. Purpose of the Role

This role exists to:

• Research, identify, and approach potential corporate partners and sponsors
• Develop partnership proposals and sponsorship packages aligned with CIC priorities

• Support the Fundraising Director in building strategic alliances that amplify impact
• Ensure all corporate engagements uphold CIC values, trauma-informed practices, and anti-exploitative principles

About the role:

To create, manage, and optimise content and communications that engage donors and the community, ensuring consistent messaging, ethical standards, and alignment with campaigns and organisational values.

Experience Qualification and Requirements

Essential / Highly Valued Experience

• Experience in copywriting, communications, journalism, or similar.
• Familiarity with email marketing platforms and newsletter creation (e.g., Mailchimp, CiviCRM, or equivalent).
• Experience developing content for fundraising or donor engagement.
• Social media content creation for organisational impact.
• Strong editing, proofreading, and content planning skills.
• Ability to write clearly, persuasively, and in a tone consistent with the C.I.C’s values.
• Understanding of audience segmentation and personalised communications.
• Awareness of data protection, confidentiality, GDPR, and safeguarding requirements.
• Experience tracking engagement metrics and refining communications based on results.
• Collaborative skills to work with multiple teams and volunteers.
• Ability to adapt content for different audiences, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.

Desirable / Can Be Developed

• Experience producing multi-channel campaigns (email, social media, print).
• Knowledge of design and layout tools for content (e.g., Canva, InDesign).
• Volunteer coordination and mentoring experience.

• Equivalent professional experience in communications, content creation, or donor engagement is highly valued.

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties

• Develop compelling, clear, and accurate content for donor and community communications, including:
  • Emails and newsletters
  • Campaign materials and updates
  • Fundraising appeals and donor acknowledgements
• Maintain consistent organisational voice and messaging across all communications channels.
• Collaborate closely with the Fundraising Director to align content with fundraising campaigns and donor engagement strategies.
• Work with the Social Media Team to ensure content complements online campaigns and wider communications.
• Track donor engagement and responses to communications, using feedback to refine messaging, segmentation, and targeting.
• Support segmentation and personalisation of donor communications to maximise relevance and impact.
• Ensure all communications comply with data protection, confidentiality, and ethical standards (GDPR, safeguarding, and organisational policies).
• Adapt content for different community audiences, ensuring accessibility, clarity and inclusivity.
• Proofread, edit, and review communications for accuracy, tone, and impact before distribution.
• Contribute to content planning and calendars, coordinating timing and messaging with campaign schedules.
• Provide guidance and support to other volunteers involved in communications or content creation.
• Maintain documentation of communications templates, processes, and donor engagement metrics.
• Actively participate in team meetings to share insights, track performance, and improve communications strategy.
