We aim to encourage women to become self-reliant by helping them identify their needs, make informed choices, and create their own solutions. Our services include a baby bank, a charity shop, and a range of community support initiatives for women facing crises or challenging circumstances.

Our Wolverhampton Baby Bank is a flagship project supporting families with children aged 0–3 by providing essential items such as nappies, clothing, toys, and bedding, alongside access to vital support services and community resources.

About the Role

We are looking for reliable and detail-oriented volunteers to join our Baby Bank team as Sorting Associates.

In this hands-on role, you will help organise, check, and prepare donated baby items to ensure they are safe, high-quality, and ready to support families in need. Your contribution will play a vital part in delivering essential support to the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Sort donated baby clothing, equipment, and essentials by category, size, and condition
• Inspect items to ensure they meet safety and quality standards
• Remove damaged, stained, or unsuitable items according to guidelines
• Label and organize items for storage or distribution
• Maintain cleanliness and order in sorting areas
• Follow operational SOPs and safety procedures
• Report inventory shortages or concerns to the Project Lead
• Support packing and preparation for client distribution when required

Our volunteers help us fund lifesaving science to improve the lives of families and loved ones living with heart and circulatory disease. Volunteering with us is easy, flexible, and inclusive. Our Sales Floor Volunteers are the first point of contact for customers when they enter our charity shop. You will be greeting customers, helping them find the items they’re looking for and answering their questions, with help on hand from the shop team. Just so you know, we are unable to accept volunteers aged under 17 or with unspent criminal convictions. Please note this is an unpaid voluntary position in a friendly charity shop.

Volunteer Assistant Tutor – Rotherhithe Saturday School

Empowering Young Minds, Boosting Core Skills
Maths & English Every Saturday 10am-12pm for Kids Aged 7-11

Skills Development Training is a 10+ year established Southwark charity running a new Rotherhithe Saturday School for children aged 7-11 (Years 3–6). We are looking for a committed Volunteer Assistant Tutor to support our small-group Maths & English sessions.

Role Overview

• Support the lead tutor every Saturday, 10am–12pm (term time).

• Help deliver 1 hour Maths + 1 hour English with a short break.

• Work with a small group of up to 10 pupils, focusing on: number fluency, reading comprehension and writing skills.

• Help with setting up the classroom, supporting individual pupils, and maintaining a positive learning environment.

• Sourcing and updating information around rehoming, cat welfare, fundraising and volunteer recruitment
• Regularly updating and posting on your group’s website using the charity’s content management system (CMS)
• Ensuring that content meets with internal and external policies and guidelines

Time expectation

Our website editor volunteers usually spend two to three hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
