Join the small, diverse and friendly team of an independent advocacy charity in Lewisham as Treasurer of the Board of Trustees. We are a rights-based organisation and support people with learning disabilities to speak up and get their voices heard. 

Lewisham Speaking Up is an inclusive organisation that work in partnership with the people who need our support. Our beneficiaries are included at all levels of the organisation, from being Board members to being paid staff as well as being beneficiaries of our services.

Our services are split into two areas:

• self-advocacy 

• 1-2-1 advocacy 

We all work together towards our vision for a society where people with learning disabilities are listened to, recognised, respected and included in all decisions about their lives. We are looking for trustees who are committed to helping the organisation achieve this. 

Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic financial leadership, overseeing budgets, fundraising, and financial planning. 

• Ensure accurate financial records, compliance, and robust governance, including risk management and auditor liaison. 

• Actively participate in Board meetings, contributing to governance and strategy. 

Essential Skills:

• A qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with experience in financial management and clear communication. 

• An awareness of, or willingness to learn about, issues facing people with learning disabilities and a commitment to supporting them 

• The ability to explain complex technical financial data to other trustees who have a learning disability and those with no financial background. 

• Availability for regular Board meetings (online via Zoom) 

Desirable Skills: 

• Experience in charity finance 

• Experience as a Trustee, grant funding knowledge, proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks),

• Proficiency in budgeting, cash flow monitoring and evaluating the financial viability of strategic plans.

2026/27 is a pivotal time for the Muscle Help Foundation (MHF) charity. Marking its 23rd year of operation, MHF is now moving beyond its founding 657 mission set in March 2003, to a new mission. Exciting times! A key Board appointment, the Treasurer will maintain an overview of MHF's financial affairs, ensuring continued sustainability.

What will you be doing?

We're looking for that special person to be a part of a small and friendly team that can help contribute to MHF's future continued mission and vision.

Our existing Treasurer is also MHF's Interim Chair. As a high achiever, the need for a standalone Treasurer is required to ease the pressure. MHF’s Treasurer will work with the charity’s long-standing chartered accountancy firm and external book-keeping partner, in addition to being supported by the Interim-Chair and the CEO.

What are we looking for?

• Time to dedicate to the role of Treasurer. Excellent communicator with good listening & interpersonal skills
• Professional or relevant finance & business-related experience and knowledge and/or the ability to demonstrate the necessary financial skills needed to support MHF's professional interests
• The intellectual capacity to grasp issues outside personal experience and the ability to contribute to high level strategy development

What difference will you make?

As someone with financial skills, you can help ensure MHF's board can understand & review the charity's financial position with greater confidence. Following an away-day last year, several new missions were developed as MHF is now within touching distance of realising its original 657 mission set in March 2003, some 23 years ago. VOLUNTEER ACTIVITY COACH

Time: Evenings, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm (weekly)

Location, Oasis House, Northampton

Connection Support provides a range of services supporting people who may be at risk of homelessness or who require social care. We work with people who may have experienced challenges such as debt, family circumstances, mental health difficulties, substance misuse, being a care leaver, learning disabilities, age-related needs, or physical disabilities.

Volunteers play a key role in helping us provide meaningful activities that improve wellbeing and reduce loneliness.

Could you help prevent loneliness and isolation in your community by running a weekly activity night?

· Do you have 1–2 hours a week in the evening (6:00 pm – 8:00 pm) to support residents by running fun and engaging activities?

· Can we rely on you to commit to a period of up to 12 weeks?

· Can you build positive, professional, and trusting relationships with residents in a friendly and non-judgemental way?

We are unable to accept volunteers who are under 16.

We are looking for friendly volunteers to support our Dereham charity shop by providing a warm welcome to our customers and processing sales through the till and card machine. The time you dedicate will help us to make the most of the incredible donations to our charity shops and raise more funds for our vital animal welfare work.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Greeting customers and serving them in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner
• Answering questions from customers, donors and supporters
• Processing sales through the till and card machine
• Helping with administration and reception duties around the till area
• Promoting Gift Aid and instore sales campaigns

Relevant training and support will be provided.

What we are looking for:

• Friendly, helpful and confident when working with the public
• Good communication and numeracy skills
• Previous customer service or retail experience would be beneficial but not necessary as full training will be given

Join our team and inspire others to exercise through a weekly walk. You will create an opportunity for people to support each other, provide that additional boost to exercise and go for a walk even when they may not be feeling the motivation.

We work with people who need support with their mental health across London and the South East. Our support ranges from registered accommodation services for people with severe mental health conditions to drop-in community and crisis services.

In the last year, 9,499 adults accessed Hestia’s mental health support.

We help people to feel safe, develop hope for a better future, and achieve their personal goals. These goals may include rebuilding relationships with family members and friends or connecting more with their local community.

What you will be doing

• Coordinate and facilitate weekly walks in local parks to the service alongside other volunteers
• Meet with the walking group weekly
• Hold conversations with people attending the group, checking in on their wellbeing and providing a listening ear/friendly face
• Keep a record of attendees, provide feedback, and report any concerns to the staff team
• Ability to provide a supportive, and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation

The skills you need

• Inspire and motivate people to attend the walking group
• Ability to identify, manage any possible risks that may arise during the walking group. Training will be provided
• Willing and able to go on a weekly walk lasting approximately 60-90 minutes
• Good communication skills
• Calm and patient approach

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive, confident, and highly organised Volunteer Housing & Asset Management Administrator to support our busy Housing and Asset Management teams.

This role is ideal for someone looking to gain experience within a housing association or supported housing environment while making a meaningful contribution to services supporting vulnerable residents.

Causeway is a small housing association, originally set up to accommodate young Irish migrants, and now providing housing and support services to people from anywhere in the world, with a wide range of needs – from those who just need an affordable place to live, to those who need a helping hand to achieve their life goals.

Our centre provides a safe, friendly and neutral space where children from separated families can spend time with the non-resident parent and, in some cases, grandparents.

Volunteer Delivery Driver needed to collect and deliver essential baby items to mums across the Greenwich Borough.
Flexible hours, training provided, and expenses reimbursed.

Purpose of Role 

Many of the mums we support cannot collect essential items themselves due to financial hardship, mobility issues, mental health challenges, or caring responsibilities. Volunteer Delivery Drivers help ensure essential donated items reach mums supported by MumsAid safely, respectfully, and with dignity. This role involves collecting goods from Mammakind Charity and delivering them directly to families, many of whom are experiencing hardship, isolation, or vulnerability. Due to the nature of this role, you will be in direct contact with vulnerable mums and their families, so a strong commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries is essential. 

What will you be doing? 

• Liaise with MumsAid team about delivery schedules 

• Collect and safely transport donated items from Mammakind Charity 

• Deliver items sensitively to families 

• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries 

• Follow safeguarding guidance at all times 

• Report safeguarding or welfare concerns immediately to the MumsAid team 

• Promote and support equality, diversity and inclusion 

• Attend induction and role-specific training and take part in feedback sessions
