We’re looking for friendly and welcoming volunteers to join us, who are enthusiastic and excited to help our clients and supporters. Whether you’re a confident communicator who wants to engage with your local community or a reliable and honest volunteer looking to help us sort our donations, we’d love to have you on board as a Fundraising Volunteer!

Fundraising Volunteers will volunteer within the BCWA Fundraising Team, assisting with their day-to-day activity, whether that’s helping sort our valuable donations, tidying and keeping our donation cupboards clean, supporting the team with tasks or helping with collections in the community.  Fundraising at BCWA can be a busy, high-pressure environment – our volunteers are integral at our busiest times of the year to ensure our clients and services get the support they need.

Volunteering with our Fundraising Team might look like:

• Supporting with processing donations – including moving and handling and carrying a variety of items.
• Helping keep our storage areas for donations clean and tidy.
• Getting involved with your local community and coming up with creative new ideas for fundraising drives.
• Assisting with collections if you are comfortable and have a valid UK Driving License.
• Being an advocate for BCWA!

To keep everyone informed, supported, and working towards shared goals, all fundraising volunteers are invited to join our quarterly team meeting. These sessions will:

• Share upcoming events and new fundraising opportunities
• Give updates on current projects and campaign progress
• Offer a clear focus for the months ahead
• Provide space for volunteers to share ideas, feedback, and experiences
• Strengthen team connection and celebrate achievements

You’ll always know what we’re aiming for and how your contribution fits into the bigger picture.

As a BCWA Fundraising Volunteer, you’ll get:

Deaf Role Models share their lived experience of deafness with deaf children and their families, showing what is possible. This volunteering will take place at different types of events and activities, either in-person or online. More than 90% of deaf children are born to hearing parents who might know very little about deafness. Being able to meet deaf adults can give them a deeper understanding of the different choices and possibilities for their child.

About you

• Aged 18 years and over

• Lived experience of deafness – it doesn’t matter what level of deafness you have, or how you communicate

• Willing to share your personal experiences of deafness with a range of audiences including families of deaf children and young people in different community venues

• Prepared to answer questions that families and/or children may have about your experiences

What you will do

• You may talk about topics such as your family life, initial diagnosis, communication, education, interests and hobbies, career and challenges

• Some assignments may include additional tasks; for example, leading an ice breaker

• Create and adapt your talk to meet the needs of the audience or family

• Be a positive role model and present us in a positive way

• Be responsible for the quality of your volunteering and for yourself as part of a team

• Help families to think about the different choices and possibilities for their child, recognising that there isn’t going to be one ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ approach for all deaf children

When & Where

• Event locations and times will vary. You can choose events that suit your availability.
• Currently looking for volunteers in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Somerset, Wiltshire, Edinburgh, Central Scotland, and Manchester.

We are looking for passionate Animal Advocates to join our Events Team and help raise vital funds for animals in need in their local community. This role is ideal for someone who loves animals, enjoys connecting with people in their community, and wants to make a meaningful difference.

Animal Advocates organise and host small fundraising stalls within their local area, helping to raise awareness and funds to support animals who need our help.

Key Responsibilities

As an Animal Advocate, you will:

• Identify opportunities to hold a fundraising stall in your community at least once a month (for example at markets, fairs, community events or outside local businesses).
• Research and approach local businesses who may wish to donate items that can be sold to raise funds to support our work.
• Encourage people in your community to donate good-quality second-hand items that can be sold on the stall.
• Set up and run fundraising stalls to engage with the public and promote the charity’s work.
• Help raise awareness about the animals we support and the difference donations make.
• Be a vital part of our Events Team.

As Assistant for Recruitment, you will:

• Help identify individuals with passion, creativity, and honour

• Reach out across the world to invite new volunteers

• Help build the foundations of our hybrid and in‑person volunteer programmes

What You Will Do

In this role, you will:

• Assist in designing and posting recruitment campaigns

• Help review applications and connect with potential volunteers

• Support interviews, introductions, and onboarding

• Maintain communication with new recruits

• Work with the Volunteer Corps leadership to refine our recruitment strategy

• Promote the values of honour, service, and creativity that define Lys

You will help build the community that will one day stand on our land.

Our vision for volunteering

Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!
