We need leaders who are passionate about making a difference in their communities, who care about helping and developing others, who will lead and inspire a volunteer movement across a geographical area to deliver Community First Aid, Community Education and Community Fundraising as well as develop our offering for young people. Through leading a team of Volunteer leaders, you will drive excellence in delivery, develop an inclusive and diverse volunteering experience for new and current volunteers, and help navigate through change to build a bigger and better St John Ambulance.

About the “I Wish” campaign
Launching in September 2026 and running through to Mental Health Awareness Week 2027, “I Wish” is an ambitious awareness raising campaign. People with lived experience of parental mental illness share, in their own handwriting, in their own words, the one thing they wish an adult had known, asked, or done. The photograph series creates a powerful visual campaign that calls professionals to act and invites everyone to listen.

The campaign aims to:
• Reach new audiences and reduce stigma around parental mental illness
• Drive teachers and education professionals to sign up to Our Time’s training and school support services
• Build a cohort of committed schools across the academic year
• Generate national and education press coverage using compelling human stories backed by statistics
• Engage the wider public, supporters and donors

The role
We are looking for a PR-savvy volunteer to support around media outreach for the I Wish campaign launch. Working closely with Our Time’s Communications Lead, you will help us get this campaign in front of the journalists and editors who can amplify it; from education press to national human interest desks.

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role. The campaign has a clear press release angle, strong statistics, and compelling human stories ready to go. We need someone to help us pitch them effectively.

What you’ll be doing
Building the media database
• Research and compile a tailored media list covering our priority target outlets: education press (TES, SecEd, Schools Week, Headteacher Update), national titles (Guardian Education, BBC, i paper), parenting media (Mumsnet, Netmums, Mother & Baby), mental health charity sector press, and relevant regional outlets
• Identify the right individual contacts (journalists, editors, and news desks) for each outlet and audience
• Maintain and organise the database so it is clear, up to date, and easy for the team to use going forward
• Access to Cision, Vuelio, or a similar media database is a significant advantage for this part of the role

Preparing pitches
• Working with the Communications Lead, develop tailored pitch angles for different outlets and audiences. For example, a data-led pitch for education press versus a human-interest pitch for national titles or parenting media
• Draft pitch emails and follow-up copy that is concise, compelling, and campaignready
• Help prepare supporting materials including ambassador story profiles and key statistics for journalists

Pitching and follow-up
• Send pitches to target journalists and editors, ahead of the campaign embargo lift (approx. 1–5 September 2026)
• Manage follow-up contact in a timely and professional way
• Track responses and coverage, flagging interest and opportunities to the Communications Lead
• Support any requests for interviews or additional information from media contacts

Who we’re looking for
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
• Experience in PR, journalism, communications, or a related field; agency, in-house, or freelance all welcome
• A good working knowledge of the UK media landscape, particularly education, national, and/or charity sector press
• Strong written communication skills and confidence drafting pitches and press materials
• A systematic, organised approach to building and maintaining media lists
• Access to Cision, Vuelio, or a similar media intelligence tool (desirable but not essential, we can work together on this if not)
• An interest in mental health, children’s wellbeing, education, or the charity sector
• Availability from August 2026, with the ability to commit through to October 2026

You don’t need to have volunteered for a charity before. What matters most is your PR instinct, your ability to craft a pitch, and your willingness to get stuck in.

About the role

Hours: 2 hours per week

As a Volunteer Group Facilitator, you will play an important role in supporting group sessions and workshops. You will help create a welcoming, inclusive, and comfortable environment where everyone feels valued and able to participate.

Your responsibilities may include engaging with group members through conversation, welcoming participants as they arrive, and supporting the smooth running of sessions by helping with set-up and clear-up tasks. You may also assist with taking attendance at the start of each session.

Full training and regular supervision will be provided, so you’ll feel confident and supported in your role.

This role requires a Basic DBS check, which will be arranged and paid for by Rethink Mental Illness.

As a Volunteer Group Facilitator you will

• Welcome participants and help create a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment
• Support the development of a safe space where individuals feel comfortable sharing as much or as little as they wish
• Assist with setting up before sessions (e.g. arranging chairs, preparing materials, and taking attendance)
• Help tidy and reset the space after sessions
• Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to support the smooth delivery of group activities

About the service

The Bristol Community Support Services team is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support. The service focuses on helping individuals achieve their goals, improve their wellbeing, and maintain independence while living with mental illness.

The team includes a Service Manager, Recovery Coaches, a Digital Officer, a Group Development Coordinator, and a Peer and Volunteer Coordinator, all working together to provide a supportive and effective service.

Together Drug and Alcohol Service is the commissioned community drug and alcohol provision for Devon. It provides a range of support, interventions and treatments for those wanting to make positive changes to their drug and/or alcohol use, as well raising awareness and supporting family members.

The role:

Recovery Support Volunteers can be involved in various aspects of service delivery. It is a front line, client facing role and may involve a focus on one particular area, such as group work or Duty support, or, it may involve a combination of tasks and activities. We are looking for a team player with a willingness to learn.

Tasks may include:

• Support people engaged in support with Together to achieve their Recovery Plan goals
• Support the facilitation of structured and unstructured group work programmes, both virtually and face to face
• Support and empower individuals to engage in recovery activities, including those provided by Together and the wider community

• Be a first point of contact for individuals, professionals, or family members, taking referrals as appropriate
• Provide Brief Interventions, including those focussed around harm reduction

The difference you will make to cats and people

Every penny counts when it comes to improving the lives of the thousands of cats and kittens across the UK that need our help each year. Our collection box fundraising volunteers help our volunteer groups raise vital funds by collecting and distributing collection boxes in their local area. Making a difference can mean as little as raising 20p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day, to £150 which is the average cost of a cat in our care.

YOUR Mission

As our Volunteer Employability Programme Development Manager, you will:

1. Design and develop our full employability programme from concept to launch.
2. Create a structured, engaging and accessible curriculum for adults facing barriers to work.
3. Build modules covering CV writing, interview skills, job search strategies, workplace confidence, digital skills and more.
4. Work closely with our Careers Coaches, Mentors and Leadership Team to ensure the programme is holistic and impactful.
5. Develop clear processes, delivery plans and evaluation methods.
6. Ensure the programme is ready to launch as soon as possible.
7. Bring creativity, structure and passion to a programme that will transform lives.

To support MumsAid in understanding how effectively its services meet the needs of the mums we support. By gathering feedback and contributing to monitoring activities, this role helps ensure that service development is informed by lived experience and that accurate data is available to meet funding and reporting requirements. 

What will you be doing? 

• Review outstanding feedback responses. 

• Contact service users by phone to collect feedback in a respectful, supportive, and non-judgemental manner. 

• Assist with the design and distribution of surveys, questionnaires, and feedback forms. 

• Record and organise feedback data accurately to support analysis and reporting. 

• Support the monitoring of service delivery against agreed outcomes, standards, or targets. 

• Identify and highlight recurring themes, concerns, or suggestions to the relevant staff team. 

• Maintain confidentiality and follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times. 

What skills and qualities can you bring? 

• A warm, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach when speaking to service users. 

• Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with parents who may be experiencing challenging circumstances. 

• Good communication and active listening skills. 

• Attention to detail and accuracy when recording information. 

• Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding, and when to escalate concerns. 

• Reliability and commitment to the agreed volunteering schedule. 

• Willingness to complete MumsAid induction and required training. 

• Confidence using basic IT tools such as spreadsheets and online forms.

We’re looking for a kind, organised and proactive volunteer Operations Manager to support our Founder & CEO in setting up and running SUNSHINE from the very beginning.

This is one of our very first volunteer roles — a chance to help shape the foundations of a charity that could change lives across London.

About the Volunteer Role: Operations Manager (Volunteer)

As our Operations Manager, you’ll work closely with our Founder & CEO to help turn SUNSHINE from an idea into a fully functioning charity. You’ll play a key role in building our systems, processes and day‑to‑day operations so we can support people experiencing loneliness with warmth, dignity and genuine human connection.

You don’t need years of experience or a perfect CV. You just need to be organised, reliable, people‑focused and excited by the idea of helping build something meaningful from the ground up.

You might help with:

• Setting up simple operational systems and processes.

• Coordinating volunteers and supporting early team development.

• Helping organise community activities and pilot projects.

• Managing admin, scheduling and behind‑the‑scenes logistics.

• Supporting the Founder with day‑to‑day tasks as the charity grows.

• Bringing positive energy, structure and kindness to everything we do.

Even a few hours each week could make a huge difference.
