The Commitment

• Time: Approx. 10–12 days per year.

• Meetings: 5 meetings per year (3 in-person, 2 virtual) plus one annual strategy day.

• Term: Initial 3-year term.

• Expenses: Unremunerated, but necessary travel and subsistence costs are reimbursed.

We’re looking for organised, reliable people to help keep our programmes running smoothly behind the scenes and on the ground. 

As a Programme Support Volunteer, you’ll help with the coordination and delivery of our community projects and activities. You’ll assist with planning, preparation, data collection and general support across our programmes to ensure everything runs efficiently and participants have a positive experience.

This is a varied and rewarding role for anyone who enjoys helping things run well and being part of a supportive, community-focused team.

• Supporting the planning and coordination of programme activities and events

What will you bring?

Experience as a trustee, a member of a commercial board, or in a senior management role with leadership or governance responsibilities is essential. This is due to the nature of our board: as a membership organisation, we have a strong representation of student voice through officers and student trustees. They are almost always first-time trustees and will benefit from co-opted trustees with strong insight and experience in leadership, governance and strategic decision making.

We value and are looking for committed and engaged trustees. However, whilst we’re relatively open in terms of skillsets, ideally, you’ll have expertise in one or more of these areas:

· Legal especially charity or company law

· Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity

· Charity governance

Most importantly, you’ll be committed to making a difference to the lives of our 32,000 members and around 400 clubs and societies.

Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil C.I.C. is seeking a skilled Instructional Designer to join our founding volunteer team. This role is central to designing, structuring and delivering educational programmes that support survivors, young people and marginalised communities to access knowledge, develop skills and achieve personal and collective growth.

Purpose of the role:

The Volunteer Instructional Designer supports our mission by designing engaging, effective and learner-centred educational materials. In this role, you will collaborate with subject matter experts, program staff and other volunteers to transform ideas and content into structured learning experiences that are accessible, inclusive and impactful.

About the Role:

As Instructional Designer, you will work closely with the Membership Director, Book Club Coordinator, and Social & Digital Media Education Lead to develop structured learning pathways, modules, and resources for our membership programmes. Your work will ensure that all learning experiences are engaging, accessible, and aligned with our anti-capitalist, community-driven, and survivor-centred mission. This is a hands-on, impactful role combining strategy, creativity, and operational delivery.

Experience Qualification and Requirements

Essential Technical Competencies:

• Experience in instructional design, curriculum development or educational programme creation in formal or informal learning environments.
• Proven experience designing and delivering community-based education, training or learning programmes.
• Experience using content creation tools (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Workspace, Canva).
• Basic familiarity with e-learning tools, learning management systems or content creation software is a plus.
• Ability to develop structured learning pathways with clear outcomes and assessments.
• Ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, accessible and inclusive learning materials.

About The Role

Love nature and people? Join us as a Visitor Engager at WWT Slimbridge.

As a Visitor Engager, you’ll be out in the heart of the Wetland Centre, welcoming visitors and helping them connect with the amazing world of wetlands. From bringing conservation stories to life at our Arctic Adventure and Mission Possible exhibits, to inspiring families with hands-on activities and talks, this is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

You’ll help visitors discover incredible wetland species, support unforgettable experiences for all ages, and play a key part in sharing WWT’s vital conservation work. If you enjoy being outdoors, engaging with the public, and inspiring others through nature, this role could be for you.

We are particularly looking for people available to help on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Unfortunately this role is not available for Under 18's.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll roam some of the most exciting exhibits around the centre, welcoming visitors, answering questions and helping them get the most from their visit. By sharing your knowledge of wetland species and seasonal highlights, using hands-on props and guides, and supporting family-friendly activities during events and school holidays, you’ll help bring WWT’s conservation work to life.

What can I expect to be doing? 

As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following: 

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with our fundraising events, attending supermarket collections or local markets. 

• Distributing collection tins – popping collection tins into local shops and pubs and collecting them when they’re full. 

• Bringing new ideas! - We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life.

We are seeking an expert, creative Volunteer Digital and Social Media Lead. You will help us promote our programmes supporting people in prison and young people at risk of entering the justice system, as well as our Community Bike Shop, which funds and strengthens this work.

What you’ll do:

• Design and schedule engaging posts, stories, and reels across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and more to grow our audience.

• Develop strategies for viral campaigns and collaborations to boost awareness and donations and share your expertise with our team.

• Analyse metrics (engagement, reach, growth) and refine tactics based on what resonates.

• Create eye-catching visuals using tools like Canva.

• Update our website as required and make suggestions for improvements.

• Work with our expert Trustee to consider how we can use online retail platforms to sell our refurbished bikes.

What we’ll provide:

· Creative freedom within agreed priorities and tone of voice.

· Access to the right tools plus shared photos, stories and impact stats.

· A named contact, light-touch sign-off, and occasional check-ins to remove blockers.

Time commitment: we’ll agree a realistic scope with the right volunteer based on their availability.

About us

UpCycle, works with individuals in prisons and young people at risk in marginalised communities.  We use bicycle maintenance workshops to help build life skills, enhance employability, prevent offending and reoffending, and foster social reintegration.  We also offer lead rides, bike fit-it sessions and other ways to engage with vulnerable people.

In prisons

· We delivered 956 un-refurbished bikes and received back 768 refurbished bikes across eight prisons and one Young Offenders Institution, training over 238 individuals.

In the Community

· Over 1034 bikes were donated to our Community Bike Shop, of those we refurbished and distributed more than 612 to underserved communities locally and overseas.

· Workshops in Bradford engaged 361 participants in diverse cycling-related activities across the area.

· "Bike to the Future" and other initiatives reached 220 young people with more complex needs.

This is a meaningful opportunity to use your skills and experience to make a real difference, while developing your own governance knowledge and being part of a supportive, committed Board.

Northumberland Domestic Abuse Services (NDAS) has been supporting people affected by domestic abuse since 2003. We provide free, confidential emotional, practical and therapeutic support to women, men, children and young people, helping survivors to cope, recover and move forward. Alongside this, we deliver prevention education to reduce the number of people who go on to experience or cause domestic abuse.

Who we’re looking for

We’re keen to hear from people from a range of backgrounds and lived experiences. In particular, we would welcome Trustees with experience in:

• Finance / financial management

• Human Resources

• Legal expertise

You don’t need previous trustee experience, what matters most is a commitment to our values, a willingness to learn, and a desire to help NDAS grow and thrive.

What being a Trustee involves

As a Trustee, you’ll help guide the strategic direction of NDAS, ensure good governance, and support the charity to continue delivering high-quality services across Northumberland.

• Board meetings take place quarterly and usually last around 2 hours, held at our Hexham office

• Additional commitments include:

  • An Annual General Meeting

  • Occasional sub-committee meetings

  • A Board development day

  • Occasional NDAS events

• The average time commitment is around 4 hours per month, with some periods requiring a little more time

Trustee roles are voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.

Elect Her is building a world where 51% (or more!) of elected officials are women. We are a non-partisan organisation working to motivate, support and equip women in all their diversity to stand for political office, in Britain, and thrive once there. 

At Elect Her, women receive the support they need on their unique political journey. Every democratic path is different and consequently we have targeted interventions, at each stage, to provide the best tools to improve women’s chances and access to elected office and, once there, help them remain in office. At the local level 50% of the women we support win - but every woman who stands makes democracy, democracy! 

Despite progress, women remain underrepresented at all levels of UK politics—only 40% nationally, 27% regionally, and 34% locally. This is not due to a lack of capable women, but because the political system is structurally biased. We’ve mapped the barriers to entry and are working on removing them and reshaping the political system so that all women can thrive once elected.

We’re recruiting for three new Directors to join our board, including a Treasurer.

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity, and our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs. 

Cats are at the centre of everything we do, and our objectives are homing, neutering and educating people about cats and their care.

We help thousands of cats across the UK each year thanks to our network of dedicated volunteers, employees and supporters.

A bit about this role... 

Please note - Due to the nature of fundraising roles, our volunteers must be over the age of 18. 

As a charity we can help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations from our supporters. Raising funds is a key role in our charity, helping to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need.

As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. Whatever your skill set, this role could be perfect for you! 

What can I expect to be doing? 

As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following: 

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with our fundraising events, attending supermarket collections or local markets. 

• Distributing collection tins – popping collection tins into local shops and pubs and collecting them when they’re full. 

• Bringing new ideas! - We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life. 

• Engaging with your local branches and Fundraising Hub and feeling like an integral part of the team! 

What are the benefits to you and the cats? 

You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge though Cats Protection’s learn online system, providing you with the skills to thrive as a fundraiser.  You’ll also have the chance to meet new people and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.
Money raised by our volunteers enables us to put cats first. Cats are at the centre of all we do. We care for them, ensure their welfare, and help others to understand and better support them.

How much time is expected of me? 

Our Fundraising Volunteer roles are very flexible, often certain times of the year are busier than others. You can choose your level of involvement to suit your schedule!

Support, guidance and keeping you safe 

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us. 

The wellbeing of our people is important and at Cats Protection we are committed to safeguarding children, adults at risk and all those that we encounter as part of our activities.

Trustee (Estates and Property)

Location: Much Hadham, Hertfordshire

Commitment: Approx. 10–12 meetings per year + preparation

Type: Voluntary position (reasonable travel expenses reimbursed)

St Elizabeth’s, a national charity based in beautiful Much Hadham, Hertfordshire, is seeking an experienced and values-driven Trustee with professional expertise in Estates & Property to join our Board.

Set within 60 acres of countryside, St Elizabeth’s provides specialist education, residential care, therapy, and health support to individuals with epilepsy, learning disabilities and complex medical conditions. Our School, Sixth Form, College, Children’s Homes, Supported Living and Adult Day Services work together to enable every person to thrive and live life to the full.

As we move through an exciting period of modernisation and growth—including significant site development, investment in digital transformation and strengthening of our long-term strategy—we are looking for a Trustee who can bring insight, challenge, and expertise in:

• Estates, property, or capital development (essential)
• Facilities management or compliance (essential)
• Strategic planning (advantageous)
• Digital/IT infrastructure or transformation (advantageous)

What You’ll Do as a Trustee

You will play a central role in the governance and strategic leadership of our charity, ensuring that our estates, buildings, environments, and long-term capital plans support high-quality services and the wellbeing of the children, young people, and adults we support.

You will:

• Provide expert insight into estates strategy, asset planning, and capital investment.
• Offer appropriate oversight of major projects, compliance, and risk.
• Support and challenge the Executive Team to ensure value for money and long-term sustainability.
• Contribute to shaping our digital, estates and organisational vision.
• Uphold our mission, values, and Catholic ethos.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from experienced professionals who can contribute to effective governance, bring independent judgement, and work collaboratively as part of a committed Board.

You will have:

• Senior-level experience in estates, property, construction, capital development, or facilities management
• The ability to analyse complex information and ask constructive, challenging questions.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, inclusion, and ethical leadership
• Alignment with our Catholic ethos (you do not need to be Catholic, but must support the ethos)
• Trustee or non-executive experience is welcome but not essential—we provide a full induction and ongoing training.

Time Commitment

Approximately 5 Board meetings per year, committee membership, and occasional site visits. Meetings take place in Much Hadham, with remote attendance possible when needed. This is a voluntary role; travel expenses are reimbursed.
