Administration Assistant

What You’ll Do

Support the Age UK Enfield team with general admin tasks that help our services run smoothly. You’ll help with email communication, data entry, and other simple office duties.

You will:

· Help respond to and send emails from shared inboxes (with support and supervision)

· Input volunteer, client, or service data into our CRM system (training provided)

· Update spreadsheets, mailing lists or booking systems

· Support with printing, scanning or filing where needed

· Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling information

Skills You’ll Use or Develop

· Basic IT and email skills (Outlook, Microsoft Office)

· Attention to detail and a methodical approach

· Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team

· Good written communication

Time Commitment

Flexible – ideally one regular half-day or full day per week
Monday to Friday, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm

Location: Age UK Enfield office or remote
Reports to: Relevant team lead or manager, depending on the area of support

Our shops help raise vital funds, and volunteering with us is a great way to make a difference, meet new people, and join a fantastic team. Volunteering in our shops offers a variety of exciting tasks. From sorting, steaming, and pricing donations to spotting hidden gems, you'll roll up your sleeves in the backroom and assist on the shop floor. Engaging with customers is key, whether you're serving with a smile, working the till or helping donors complete Gift Aid forms.

Creating a warm, friendly and inviting space is just as important. You'll help design eye-catching window displays, keep the space tidy, and use your creativity to ensure everything looks its best, encouraging customers to return.

No special skills are needed as we’ll show you what to do, and we provide all the training you’ll need.

Overview of The Charity 

The Muslim Youth Helpline (MYH) is a national award winning charity providing faith and culturally sensitive support services to young people in the UK. Its core service is a free and confidential helpline open seven days a week via telephone, email, internet chat and WhatsApp. MYH is a dynamic organisation that puts service to its clients at the heart of everything that it does. 

Vision: A future where young people are empowered to overcome challenges and live a God-centred life of meaning and purpose.

Mission: To provide a range of culturally informed services to improve the mental wellbeing of young people.

Role Description 

The Board of Directors is opening up the opportunity for new Trustees to join MYH. If you are passionate about making a difference and have the skills, knowledge, or experience to support MYH during an exciting period of growth, we would love to hear from you. 

As part of our ongoing Board development, we welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds, skills, and perspectives who share our values and commitment to our mission. While all applications are encouraged, we would particularly value experience in governance, strategic oversight, and organisational development at this stage of the charity’s journey.

As part of MYH’s ongoing Board development and succession planning, we are particularly seeking to appoint Trustees in two priority areas:

1. Future Chair of Trustees

We are seeking an experienced strategic leader who may be interested in progressing into the role of Chair of Trustees within the next 9–12 months, following a planned leadership transition. Previous Chair, Board, Non-Executive, or senior leadership experience would be highly valuable.

2. Governance and Organisational Oversight 

We are also looking to strengthen Board capability in charity governance, legal and regulatory compliance, safeguarding, risk management, HR oversight, and 

organisational policy development.

As MYH continues through a period of growth and organisational development, these 

appointments will play an important role in supporting the charity’s long-term sustainability, accountability, and impact.

Key Responsibilities 

As a Trustee of MYH, you will work collectively with the Board to provide effective governance, strategic direction, and oversight to support the charity’s mission and long-term sustainability. Key responsibilities include: 

• Contributing to the strategic direction and overall governance of the charity 

• Ensuring the charity operates in line with its charitable objectives, governing documents, and legal responsibilities 

• Supporting effective decision-making by providing independent judgement, constructive challenge, and professional insight 

• Promoting accountability, transparency, and ethical leadership across the organisation 

• Overseeing the charity’s financial sustainability, including monitoring resources, budgets, and fundraising opportunities 

• Supporting the identification and management of organisational risks, including safeguarding responsibilities where appropriate 

• Acting in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries at all times 

  • Championing the charity’s mission, values, and impact with stakeholders and the wider community

• Working collaboratively with fellow Trustees and the leadership team to support organisational growth and development 

  • Attending Board meetings, contributing to discussions, and participating in relevant sub-groups or activities where required 

  • Supporting good governance practices, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organisation

Desirable Skills and Experience 

While we welcome applications from individuals with a broad range of backgrounds and experiences, we would particularly value: 

• Previous Board, Trustee, Non-Executive Director, or governance experience 

• Experience in governance, charity leadership, or strategic organisational oversight 

• Knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, HR, legal compliance, or organisational policy development 

• Strategic planning and organisational development experience 

• Financial oversight, fundraising, or financial sustainability experience 

• Experience supporting organisations through periods of growth and change 

• An understanding of the needs and challenges affecting young people and Muslim communities

Commitment 

Trustees are expected to commit 4-8 hours of work during each month to complete any 

necessary Trustee tasks agreed by the Board to support a rapidly growing Muslim Youth 

Helpline. 

The specified hours above are an indication only. The successful candidate may be expected to work additional hours and on occasional weekends.

South West Advocacy Network (SWAN) want to strengthen their Board of Trustees with up to 4 new Trustee appointments. These are voluntary positions and provide opportunity to help SWAN to develop its strategic direction and sustain innovative services to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.

SWAN began life in Wiltshire and over the past 25 years has expanded into Somerset, Bristol, Dorset, Isle of Wight, West Berkshire, Portsmouth, East Sussex and Worcestershire. We deliver high quality, independent advocacy services supporting a diverse range of vulnerable people. We have developed a model of advocacy which ensures everyone, including the most marginalised, have the same rights and opportunities as their fellow citizens. Our services are free at the point of delivery, confidential and non-judgemental.

We work with people from all walks of life and have supported thousands of the most disadvantaged people to have their voice heard and their choices respected by those that are making decisions about their future.

• An understanding of, or interest in, the lives of vulnerable adults including those who have been victims of hate crime
• An understanding of, or interest in, the wider voluntary sector
• A commitment and willingness to improving the lives of vulnerable people
• Integrity, strategic vision and relationship building skills
• Governance, finance, and/or entrepreneurial experience
• Good communication skills and knowing how to work as part of a team
• For the treasurer role some experience of managing and understanding budgets and financial reports would also be required.

Time commitment averages 1 day a month, meeting locations are flexible and either face to face or virtual. Trustee expenses, including travel are paid.

We are looking for an empathic, friendly, enthusiastic and motivated female volunteer or volunteers to join our Ealing DVA team who offer tailored support to people escaping domestic abuse. In this role you will be supporting the Ealing team with their referral line services.

Volunteers will:

1. Provide effective telephone advice, information and support to women, men and children who are living with or fleeing domestic abuse

2. Advise women, men and professionals via telephone on options for staying safe and independent or to access refuge accommodation.

3. Provide effective telephone advice, information and support to other statutory and voluntary agencies who are seeking advice for their clients who may be experiencing or escaping domestic abuse

4. Cover the Referral and Information line volunteering between the hours of 10:00am - 4:00pm

5. Attend supervision sessions as and when required (face to face and or virtually)

CARA is looking for a female Advocacy Volunteer to support our Advocacy Co-ordinator in providing advocacy support to victims and survivors of any kind of sexual violence. You would have an allocated case load, and work would include support around housing, finances, health, domestic abuse and other issues. The volunteer will be line-managed by CARA’s Advocacy Manager and will work alongside the very friendly CARA team.

Our Advocacy team support CARA’s clients with a wide range of advocacy issues. The main tasks are to hold a small caseload and support victims and survivors of sexual violence with:

· Accessing benefits, including filling in forms.

· Accessing services, including mental health, housing and legal services, and accompanying to appointments, if necessary.

· Providing and signposting to financial support and debt advice.

· Accessing appropriate support at school / college/work.

· Emotional support, including aspects of self-care strategies and psycho education.

· Providing occasional support for CARA’s face to face and/or online social group

From helping someone find a perfect gift or finishing touch to an outfit, to putting through cash and card sales at the till, we’d love you to come and join our busy, friendly shop.

Volunteer Retail Assistants will be located primarily on the shop floor, dealing with queries, pricing items, using the till, and ensuring our shops are the best on the high street. Without you, we couldn't provide needed support to the York Animal Home, so we want to ensure you feel welcomed and supported. You will receive full training in all retail areas, with continued development available in your volunteer journey. If you’re looking to gain confidence to get back into work, or simply want to find somewhere to make connections, we have a role for you.

Every single penny raised in our charity shop goes directly to the York Animal Home and gives vital funds to ensure they can continue helping animals in need. Without your help our shops could not run; volunteers are what make us special and we would love to have you join our team.

• Access to public transport or a car to get to events if necessary.

Why we want you

As a community engagement volunteer you and your fellow branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community to ensure that that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

This role is diverse and allows for you to focus on the areas that you have skills or interests in. The role has flexibility and can work around your other commitments.

What you will be doing

• Activity Organisers - Love planning? Help coordinate amazing events like charity dinners, carol concerts, and local fairs.
• Event Champions - Be the friendly face of SSAFA! Help at events, chat with visitors, sell merchandise, and spread the word about our work.
• Promoting SSAFA Services - Help provide a warm, welcoming presence at Veterans Breakfast clubs, cafes or hubs - offering information about SSAFA services and signposting as appropriate.
• SSAFA Storytellers -Deliver engaging talks to organisations and groups, sharing SSAFA’s incredible history and mission.
