The Pirate Castle is looking for a voluntary Treasurer Trustee to join our friendly and committed Trustee Board. We are an iconic Camden-based community boating charity, established in 1966; we are proud to say that 2026 is our 60th anniversary.
Our well-known castle building sits on the banks of the Regent's Canal in the heart of Camden Town. We rent out our community space and offer a range of watersports for children and adults of all ages and abilities. Kayaking and canal boating are core to our work and we tackle disadvantage and support our community by offering subsidised sport and recreation, including through the school holidays. If you ever walk along the canal tow path in Camden you can't help but notice us on the water!
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis or accounting, ideally with a professional accountancy qualification.The role involves working with our contracted Bookkeeper and Development Manager to monitor and oversee the charity's finances month-to-month and to report to trustees at Board meetings. It also involves overseeing the preparation of the annual accounts, together with our external accounts inspector (our annual income level is below the audit threshold).
The charity is in a sound financial position. As the Treasurer you will also be involved in and have an important voice in the charity's strategic management and governance. We are a friendly Trustee Board and staff team, looking for a Treasurer with solid financial analysis and an ability to communicate with others from all walks of life. You can expect about 4-5 hours' work per month on average. The Board meets 10 times each year, usually on a Monday evening. Most of our meetings are held remotely though two meetings each year are held in person in our Camden Castle building.
Please note this is a voluntary (unpaid) position. As a Trustee you would be a director of our company limited by guarantee. We maintain directors and officers insurance for our Board members.

Working alongside our Chief Advancement Officer and Deputy Chief Advancement Officer, you'll play a key role in securing the funding needed to expand our work across India, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Key Responsibilities
·Research and identify funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, institutional donors, corporate partners and philanthropic organisations.
·Build and maintain relationships with prospective funders, partners and supporters.
·Develop compelling grant applications, funding proposals and sponsorship opportunities.
·Generate new fundraising leads through networking, outreach and relationship building.
·Manage funding opportunities from initial prospect through to successful award.
·Work collaboratively with programme teams to develop high-quality funding proposals.
·Maintain an active pipeline of funding opportunities using our CRM and AI-powered fundraising platform.
·Represent Project Yananai professionally with donors, corporate partners and external stakeholders.
·Contribute ideas and initiatives that help grow Project Yananai's fundraising capability.
·Support donor stewardship and help build long-term funding relationships.
About You
·You may come from a charity fundraising, business development, partnerships, sales, account management, corporate relationship management or marketing background.
·A proven ability to generate income, win new business, secure funding or develop strategic partnerships.

·Strong written and verbal communication skills.

York Archaeological Trust for Research and Excavation Limited, an educational and research charity, is currently looking for a new trustee specialising in finance to join its board during an exciting period of development.
Having celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2022, we are committed to building on the vision that began with the Coppergate excavation in York and the opening of the internationally renowned JORVIK Viking Centre, and to harnessing archaeology for educational and public benefit. Engaging with more than 1.2 million people annually, and with centres of archaeology and conservation in York and Nottingham we work throughout the UK and internationally providing leading-edge field investigation, analysis and connecting communities with their past.
We are keen to hear from those who can offer expertise and experience in strategic financial management. With succession planning in mind for the role of Chair of our Finance and Audit Committee, we are seeking a candidate with considerable professional financial expertise, ideally underpinned with a formal first-tier accounting qualification, proven commercial acumen and strong leadership skills to scrutinise, challenge and oversee the entirety of the Trust’s finances. Whilst a formal accountancy qualification is desirable, we will also consider candidates who have had substantial experience of corporate or charity governance, financial analysis and scrutiny at a strategic level.
Business experience of the charity sector from either an employed or voluntary capacity would also be an advantage.
Trustees are appointed for a three-year term, renewable to a maximum of nine years. The role includes a commitment to attend four board meetings per year and the Annual General Meeting. Trustees are also expected to contribute some additional time to sub-committees and/or Steering Groups in line with their interests and expertise. Trustees are not remunerated, but we can cover reasonable travel and accommodation expenses.

Position Overview
The Head of People will be a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO. This volunteer, unpaid role leads the People team (including HR Business Partners and Recruiting) and oversees People Operations, talent acquisition, and culture-building initiatives to ensure an inclusive, engaging, and high-performing environment. What Will You Do?
As Lead Grants and Foundations, you will:
Fundraising strategy: Design and implement a comprehensive strategy for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding foundation, corporate, and government grant prospects.
Grant writing and management: Oversee the entire grants lifecycle, from researching funding opportunities and writing compelling proposals to managing awards, ensuring compliance, and submitting reports.
Team leadership: Lead and mentor a team of grants professionals, such as grants managers and coordinators, to meet or exceed annual funding goals.
Relationship management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with foundation program officers and other institutional funders. Serve as the primary point of contact for major funders.
Cross-departmental collaboration: Work closely with finance, programs, and leadership to develop grant budgets, gather data for proposals, and ensure funded projects are implemented successfully.
Compliance and reporting: Ensure the organization adheres to all grant requirements, including financial and programmatic reporting, and prepares for audits.
Financial oversight: Manage the grant budget and expenditure tracking, and provide financial reports to both funders and internal leadership
