Positive Futures is seeking a Trustee with professional experience in children’s social care to join our Board. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced practitioner or leader to bring expertise in safeguarding, residential care, and Ofsted-regulated services to the strategic oversight of our organisation. The successful candidate will provide critical insight into care planning, permanence, and supporting excellence in residential settings, ensuring that Positive Homes continues to deliver safe, high-quality services as it grows and responds to national legislative changes.

As a Fundraising Trustee, you'll play a key role in shaping and supporting Let's Play Project's fundraising vision and strategy. Working with the charity manager and fellow trustees you'll help us build sustainable income streams to support our mission.

Main duties and responsibilities 

• Provide Strategic input on fundraising plans and campaigns
• Support and advise on income generation, donor engagements, and partnerships
• Champion a fundraising culture across the charity
• Use your networks to open doors to new supporters and opportunities
• Ensure the charity complies with fundraising regulations and best practice
• Guide and support staff and volunteers
• Assist in recruitment (when required)

As a member of the Board of Trustees 

Participate in quarterly meetings and annual strategy day, to help set Let’s Play’s strategic direction, goals, and targets, particularly in relation reaching a very challenging fundraising target to ensure the sustainability of our organisation.

Job description - Main duties and responsibilities:

• Live in Roman Catholic religious community

• Share faith with hundreds of young people on retreat

• Assist to lead and organise Salesian retreats

• Work as a team to enhance the retreat experience for those who attend

Skills, qualifications and experience needed for the job:

Mandatory:

Learning and curriculum designers wanted to help East London Waterworks Park deliver its environmental learning goals.

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are looking for volunteers to develop learning content and resources, such as lesson plans and educational materials, to support our environmental learning goals. This role will focus on creating school-friendly resources for our website and collaborating with educators to enhance our offerings.

The role would include:

• Developing online learning resources for our website (on-going project)
• Designing or tailoring existing lesson plans and activities for schools 
• Supporting the creation of ELWP’s Under 18s volunteering policy
• Supporting outreach efforts to promote ELWP’s existing learning programmes

The Learning Circle currently meets monthly on a Wednesday evening at 8pm for an hour on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely.

Ideal candidates have experience in curriculum design, teaching, or educational resource development. Creativity, strong writing skills, and an understanding of outdoor or environmental education will be valuable. Our roles are quite flexible. We hope that people bring radical imagination, peace with nature, and courageous inclusiveness to the role.  

Your support will help young people and learners improve their environmental knowledge of design and research as well as contributing to our community-owned park. This will in turn provide a sense of stewardship over the land once the park is created and student's ideas have been built into the park. Creating learning projects with educational institutions will also help our charity with the strategy to buy the land through showing the value of our environmental education programme before we create the park. 

You will have a significant impact on the creation of a new biodiverse community-owned park with free access natural swimming ponds. By volunteering in this role, you will help shape the future of East London Waterworks Park as a community-led environmental learning space. We are currently recruiting for trainee or qualified therapist placements for our Express Plus arts therapy service. Express Plus offers creative, client-led therapy for children and young people aged 7–18 (or up to 25 where additional needs are present). The service runs during term-time only, with sessions held after school in Family Hubs located in the three most deprived wards of Westminster. We work within a community setting and place a strong emphasis on reflective, responsive practice.

You will have a significant impact on the creation of a new biodiverse community-owned park with free access natural swimming ponds. About us

We’re part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, a national youth organisation empowering 12- to 20-year-olds through flying, adventure training, sports, and leadership development.

West Mercian Wing supports over 900 cadets across 27 squadrons in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, the Black Country, and Cyprus. Each squadron is supported by a committee of trustees who oversee governance, fundraising, and community engagement, helping ensure incredible opportunities for young people.

What’s involved

Being a trustee is a simple but highly impactful way to support your local squadron:

• Attend quarterly meetings (around two hours each)
• Discuss finances, fundraising, priorities, and squadron activities
• Take part in decisions, especially financial and strategic matters
• Support events, networking, or community initiatives

Typical commitment: 8-12 hours per year.

Who we’re looking for

Trustees come from all walks of life. No military, youth work, or charity experience is required. Trustees actively participate in meetings and decisions – there’s no obligation to take on an elected role.

Eligibility:

• Must be 20 years or older.
• Must have lived in the UK for 3 or more years.

Useful skills (optional but welcomed):

• Finance, budgeting, or business management
• Fundraising or grant writing
• Event planning or project management
• Governance, committee, or leadership experience
• Local networks or community connections

We particularly welcome:

This is a critical turnaround role. You will be restarting the Baby Bank from square one — rebuilding systems, re-establishing services, and creating a volunteer team to support families and babies in urgent need.

The successful candidates will be allocated to lead one of our teams that either conducts, supports or progresses our short term or long term research projects. They should have excellent writing and speaking skills, IT literacy, and the ability to work well independently and in a team.

Responsibilities:

• To lead a small team of volunteers in conducting research or developing research

• To provide oversight of a number of tasks at once while providing support on specific issues as they arise

• To provide guidance to the team
